Do they go in people's homes and start rearranging the furniture ?

Perfect analogy. I'm guessing people are annoyed at their own operator error and haven't yet figured out where to keep their mouse pointer so you don't open a new page with every click.

I think it's incredibly rude to tell someone what to do with their own site. And frankly for a site who's political face is the picture of socialism paranoia... there seems to be quite a few who don't appreciate capitalism. The show is starting to make it's mark on social media, advertising is everything.

Oh, the Conspiracy Chicks! I remember after one show people were putting one of the presenters down, arguing with her that she had a speech impediment, because she spoke with an English accent. I literally wanted to cry, I hated the insults so much. Inexcusable.

This is nothing on that level, and the wording is maybe not my cup of tea, but nonetheless, it's really not a big deal. Just read it or not, and move on to the next............. What difference does it really make?

Done with this thread because it shows constructive criticism isn't acceptable unless it's answered with childishness.

Where was there something constructive? If there was, I missed it.

can you alter the strapline to something more fitting like ..

'Deny constipation'

exposing the # maybe difficult, you should start having more advertisements for ex-lax
, or start a small sister firm, in fertilisers

It's just a little embarrassing to call out the site owner in this way.

Do they go in people's homes and start rearranging the furniture ?

You are correct in that anyone in authority can tell those below them what to do and not do...for instance I can tell my kids to not drink and drive and then I can proceed to do so.

But think if you invite a bunch of friends and acquaintances to your "home" and tell them not to smoke, but then you proceed to puff away in their faces what are you conveying?

I am not accusing anyone of doing this here but no doubt there are double standards.

We're experimenting with trying to make a difference.

Journalism is dying a horrible slow death. What was once (seemingly too long ago) a sacred public trust that presented hard truths to the public, consequences be damned, in the effort to ensure that an informed public is a sovereign one.

I can't find many original sources of important news/analysis any more that isn't horribly biased in a way that is counter to the core principals of journalistic integrity.

Consider O'Reilly recently on the protests: “They are well-planned disruptions from professional, anti-establishment provocateurs,” O’Reilly said, slowly, using graphics to illustrate his point to confirm the bias of his audience. “That’s important to understand, because it is the American system that is being attacked, not the individual sagas of Michael Brown and Eric Garner.”

There's two important to notice deceptions going on here.

By blaming professional protesting groups for the protests, he's suddenly diminished the value of protesting.

And by brushing off the "individual sagas" of Brown and Garner, he's also diminishing the importance of what happened.

In one breath, he and his extremely-biased Fox News, attack the "American system" by calling for the impeachment of Obama. But in another breath, condemn others for attacking the "American system" just because the motivations are not in alignment. Hypocrisy defined.

But we're in this quagmire because of the Internet and social media. The value of truth has been diminished in favor of the value of first-to-post and total number of reTweets. Accuracy takes a far back seat to trending and likes.

Much of this is due to two very large factors: news organizations became way too corporate and untrusted, and the online culture evolved to value sensation of information.

NLBS is an experiment in form, function, and style to see if we can find a way to help unbiased truth gain traction again.

And if you examine the catalog of topics in our first 26 shows, you'll see that, for the most part, it's also all the issues and concerns typical "conspiracy theorists" would have, and call "conspiracy theories." But what we're doing, is essentially reclassify "conspiracy theories" as Next Level BS, for those audiences who have become wary of the term "conspiracy theory."

And you wouldn't get frustrated after years of working on this site and all you get is bitching and complaining? Usually from the same few people? I think he's showed remarkably "adult" restraint myself.

Apples and oranges, and given your position, you're biased. Being frustrated by complaints does not justify presenting the site as some sort of teen-aged fart joke. It may be funny to seventh graders, but as a way to present and advertise a serious site to the public, it's an Epic Fail. That's not the way to show that ATS is civilized and educated. Language like that shows only that this site is not to be taken seriously. It's a joke.

Or is it all about page views and click thrus? Do you think such a presentation shows an edginess? Sarcasm? Cynicism? Sophistication? Erudite knowledge of the world as it really is?

No. It's just stupid. Shame on you.

I was referring

It's just a little embarrassing to call out the site owner in this way.
Do they go in people's homes and start rearranging the furniture ?
to this.
But if you mean the double standards I am referring to many things, like having a thread removed when it is titled something the same as hundreds of others that were not removed, or having a post removed when there are so many saying the same but not removed...having a Mod start a thread with the word A-hole in the title.
Having rules that say no using swear words even in another form but having threads titled Sh*t G*dDamned, Fuk, whatever, you get my point...no problem for me as I do actually move on if I don't like it as I do in all forum on the internet.

I once had a post removed because I linked and pasted a paragraph from a science journal which spoke of (pey*te) :-) as used by the Indians who made cave paintings. But then I saw dozens and dozens who did not link said science but only their own experience...yes I know I could have reported them.

kidding aside , I would have thought it obvious why it not so good ,and can be easily misinterpreted , it can be easily read as meaning opinion

lets substitute the ambiguous word bull# .. what could it mean

my opinion ,
my belief,
my point of view
my god
your god
your philosophy

etc etc etc , exposing bull# could be said to mean, those that post on the threads here at *ATS , or the *couriers of horse#

not really a great way to facilitate conversation in my eyes

the straining bull is funny though , did make me chuckle some

Since the Rubicon Project has really started pouring it on, logging on to ATS has reminded me somewhat of this:

I don't mind the advertising here so much, the approach of those doing the advertising is usually pretty creative and cutting-edge, so a lot can be learned from trying to understand how it's done, and what it means that it's being done (things about web-commerce and Web 2.0, the “semantic web”).

As far as NLBS is concerned, I'd like to hear more criticism of things like industrial design, but aside from that it's as close as ATS has gotten to having a voice that, for the most part, is congruent with the general sentiment at ATS, or at least is captivating enough to get non-politicos like myself to listen for 10 minutes.

Joe's good, but he should should stay away from the Stone child: that boy's got no brains and he's dangerously stupid.

All that to say: I for one am okay with the NLBS stuff, in my mind, ATS is NLBS, NLBS is ATS. I don't mind saying that the quality of the information presented in the shows is surprisingly (for me) very good and the team seems sincere about working hard to provide an authentic alternative to most of what offerred as 'news'.

Also, you #ers made SO put on his sad-Christmas-avatar. I can't even believe you.

Spurious reasoning. And wrong. Personally I don't follow NLBS. Not my thing. Ooops. Did you think of that? I also don't follow aliens. So I just don't read that unless there's a complaint. I don't whine about these things though. At least it's an attempt at something positive. Not just more of the regular BS. "Shame on me?" I have shame for a lot of things in the past, this isn't one of them.

OK then. Lets take this criticism of yours and do something with it.

Challenge time.

Do better.

Lets see your video.

I've got nothing against turd jokes, in fact, they make up 95% of my material. I don't like the name 'Next Level Bull#' though for reasons I can't really explain. It just annoys me.

As for the show itself; I have only watched one and a half of the actual episodes but I think they look decent. I just worry they aren't as engaging as they could be. Getting regular viewers might be a long, hard slog but, hey, that's just the way it is sometimes.

We need more of these types of attempts at creating our own roadshow. Of forging a new 'New Media.'

Good luck with it, I say.

I totally agree! Let's see what Joe can make of the petty complaints leveled at the site owner and at ATS's latest (and greatest, IMO) attempt to deny ignorance with some great in-your-face journalism.

I can't wait to hear all of the F-bombs.
(and I love the idea of donating to charity! That's making lemon out of lemon aid)

I cannot BELIEVE some of the complaints here! But as has been said, people will complain no matter what!

The focus could be on how people see things.

Perception.

Like for example, take any simple news story and watch the 5 or 10 different interpretations.

We all know what happens.
