It's a test scene for a movie special effects sequence. YOUR FB friend may have been passing it off as real, but that's between YOU and YOUR friend.

FB does have T&C. Report the video if you think it's in violation.

I'm sorry, I don't follow you. while you do have every right to oppose this video, your rights are not being violated at all. I have personalty swore an oath to defend your rights an an American citizen. At no point did I swear an oath to defend your thin skin from something you feel is offensive. I did, however swear to defend his first amendment right to free speech.

Back in the late '70's, while working for a TV network, I was called into someone's ongoing interview to be asked my opinion of some photographs.

They were of a supposed actual airplane disaster.

The pictures showed an airliner crashed into the side of the WTC.

I said they looked fake.

The guy being interviewed was a special effects man and the photographs were his resume.

He still got the job.

Don't mistake a moral obligation for being thin skinned. There's a difference. It's my choice being the man that I've evolved to be decide what's right and what's wrong. If someone is into special effects then cool, not an issue. But if it gets manipulated to be something that it's not, then that's when moral line has been crossed. imo

That's exactly what happened in my case.

Someone tried to pass off F/X as 9/11.

I didn't consider it an immoral act at the time, but in light of history, any attempt to pass off fake pics of the WTC on fire with a plane sticking out of the side of it now WOULD be over the line.

Because OP doesn't want to put up a link, I have to assume it is the "OKSANA trial shooting vid". Is it that one you mean OP?
Because if it is then I am very disappointed, as it is so obviously in "jest". Even if you only got a clip from the end, the facial expressions are clearly acted.
I often get to see clips that seem too weird to be real. What I do then is a quick Google search which reveals usually within the first link that the clip is a hoax or from a film.

I have to agree that you should be angry with your 'friend' on FB if he managed to trick you so easily in thinking it was he himself; but the whole clip is not to be taken seriously.
If a WELL KNOWN clip is getting you into a state before you even check if it is real then the problem lies with you.

I am a horror movie fan and appreciate this clip on a completely different level, mainly that the special effects are quite well done even though I have seen better.

No, I think none of you understand. The context of the clip is "Cheat, and get your head blown off" glorifying violence against women. I guess none of you have a problem with that. If it said "my special effect demo" then that's a whole different ball game.

TO THE OP: There's a bunch of these videos out. Absolutely disgusting. They will be removed eventually, but not before they take their toll.

There doesn't need to be a loss of free speech but people should also have a choice to be exposed to some things. If I want to watch a horror movie I will. If I don't, I change the channel or turn the tube off. If I have an age appropriate movie playing for my kid, and a porn movie comes on right after at 9 pm at night (this happened), I'm going to be pi**ed. I wasn't given a choice. By the way, the title of the intermission before the next kid show was misleading (seemed like it might be a half hour of advertisements).

I had a 5 year old kid tell me, with no emotion other than excitement, how in his video game he ripped half a guys face off by grabbing inside his mouth, and how he also slit another guys throat. The parent made a choice to let the kid play this, but the gist is - this stuff impacts people.

FB has drawn millions in worldwide so they can stay connected, and then pull this auto play without caring what might make it out there? A surprise waiting at every corner? Post what you want but if logging on means I have to watch even a tenth of the videos people put up I personally would see that as a reason to drop that site altogether. It's already annoying enough.

It's conventional wisdom. Or has conventional wisdom changed so much that porn and violence are now going to be accepted as everyday sensory experience.

Seriously... that was messed up!!

Basically the autoplay function for videos needs to go. You should have the choice to read what's in a posted vid before you see it all play out.

Some of us have small children who don't need to see some things, and autoplay robs us of that choice.

I did that here once. I clicked on a thread, and the link in the OPs post and watched someone get beheaded before I even knew what I was watching. It was very disturbing.

It happens every once and a while. I wish people wouldn't share that stuff on FB though. I often will see pictures of abused animals and just yesterday someone throwing puppies into a river...

I block the video, sometimes the person, depending, but it just seems unavoidable that you are going to see something you shouldn't.

And my daughter wonders why fb and the internet in general is off limits...

Call me crazy, but I disagree. Why? Because I'd rather see a murder video than have Facebook censor every little thing out to fit into some sort of political agenda and try to sell us things. But hey, if you want Facebook telling you what you are and aren't allowed to see, be my guest.
Bad things happen is real life. Trying not to see those bad things doesn't mean they don't happen.

If your emotions were tricked by a fake video, then your emotions were tricked by a fake video. The truth is hard to swallow, and it's frustrating, but it's still the truth.

Most people express embarassment by getting angry. When you've been had it's humiliating, it's nearly impossible for most folks just to agree that they've been had and stop there.

The problem with this situation is that the anger will blind you to the truth: the internet presents a very particular threat to the hearts of the people that interact with it. Your emotions can be manipulated by what you are shown.

A hair trigger emotional reaction will not serve a person in this case. Although we all want to respond immediately from the heart to confront what we percieve as wrong, it will only make things worse in the case of the sort of social-media shennanigans that are being discussed here; the more pissed you get the tighter the python will squeeze.

I know, it's frustrating.

Well I just watched the link and (a) it is titled "Trial Shootings" and (b) half of it is made up of blooper reel-style outtakes with the actors falling about laughing.

Colour me Not Very Offended.

That said, the Facebook auto-play feature does totally suck.

We are all different. Some of us can watch a video like this without
any distress. Some of us are squeamish at the sight of blood. Some
of us are frightened by the cliche Hollywood "starle-scare", like the
Youtube "sudden-scary-face-scream videos."

Personally, I hate the fail videos where people get hurt. But films like
Faces of Death, and IRL death don't faze me. Unless I see suffering,
or the grief of someone who lost a loved one, I have no problem.

Still, it is pretty insensitive to the reactions of others (enough of them to
be significant) to post something like this without a warning label.

Of course you could delete your Facebook account in protest...
