Russia would love an air war.

Too bad its going to be a naval war. Russia has never won a naval engagement. (Prove me wrong, I'm genuinely interested in broadening my knowledge of Russian history.)

DO some research! Please! Just try google "Russian Naval Victories". There have been one or two.

The US Navy would never bring its Carrier Task Forces in to attack range of Russia. Russia has ballistic missiles that no power on earth has an answer to. They have ship to ship and ground to ship missiles that would kill a Battle Group if it was silly enough to enter the region.

It does not matter how good you anti missile defenses are, fire enough missiles and some will get through. The Ballistic Missiles come straight down ......... goodbye Carrier!

The point of aircraft carriers is to keep them out of range of the other persons navy i guess you dont know this. The aircraft do the fighting not the aircraft carrier. It can set safely in the Aegean and take out anything in the Black sea. Not to mention i wouldnt want to try to drive that thing through the Bosporus straight. It might make it but wow that would take some serious navigating and its an aircraft carrier there not going to turn on a dime.You really dont understand military combat very well do you seems like you got all your info from a Russian recruitment poster. If NATO wants in conventional combat Russians navy and air force would be gone in a couple of weeks. Then only thing is i dont think it would stay conventional at that point so its best to be avoided if possible. i personally don't like being radioactive and im not putting alot of faith is shooting them down like the Russians are worried about all it takes is one to get through.

You can't keep a Carrier out of range of a Ballistic Missile. One missile, one hit, one dead Carrier.

Both Russia and China know this which is why they have never invested heavily into Carriers. Both have invested heavily into Carrier killing technology. A US Carrier Group, during war games, has a Chinese Submarine surface in the middle of the task force. Enough said. Had it been real, one dead Carrier.

I agree with you completely on that point. I have been trying to get the Putin worshipers to wake up. If they knew anything about American foreign policy doctrine for the past seventy years, they would know that 'encirclement and containment' is not an accusation, it is stated policy. They would also know that the United States will not shy from using military force if this containment is breached.
