what's your point, radiation is good for the environment? there has to be some kind of tipping point with it and once it's been tipped and the radiation leads to a chain of events that ultimately wipes out the food chain or at the very least makes the food inedible, then your argument will sound even more silly than it already is.

What you are experiencing is the lack of news coverage regarding the situation. Mainstream media tends to distract viewers from worthy news by presenting mindless crap to keep you entertained. Who gives a damn about the latest antics of Miley Cirus when we are down wind of Japan's open sore?

Obviously you've decided the threat to our health is overstated and the "ones" who know the potential of the disaster are merely people addicted to gloom porn.

But alas, don't worry and get excited of the "boogy man," for he doesn't exist. That is what mama says...huh? Pay no mind...or at least until you receive a cancer prognosis from left field or you wife delivers a child with two heads, ignore the obvious until you realize the "professionals" was right when they warned us of the realities associated with spent rod radiation of a nuclear meltdown of mass proportion.

Then, you may be asking yourself why you were not informed of the situation and what you may have done to protect you and yours in the main times. But, alls not lost because you got the news of Miley's debut in slutdome.

For someone who claims that fukushima radiation isn't going to stay in fukushima, but to migrate to the rest of the world and kill us all...

Shouldn't your rational response to people who say that fukushima is nothing to worry about to people outside of fukushima be:

"Stay in your own country if you are so confident that Fukushima is doom porn"


I mean, I don't mean to pry... but if people are saying that fukushima FALLOUT isn't anything to worry about, why are you telling them to GO TO THE REACTOR ITSELF?

So those of us who read the scientific papers to educate ourselves on the situation don't care about "us and ours" and are akin to those who read the tabloids to get information about someone named Miley because we have come to a different, probably more accurate, understanding of the situation?

Fukushima.
This word will live in history as the end of humanity. It may take generations but this word will become the most hated in the world. We wisper now of what's to come but our childern will scream in out rage. Their is not much we can do but remember this monent before we broke the earth. Its not a if question its become when. And we can only blame ourselves. After chernobly the leaders or this world had a choice an we chose wrong. We knew the dangers and now we can only sit and watch. Its hard to dream of the future anymore and I'm not that old only 24 but I'm scared cuz I don't see anything.

WTF, I have to admit it is hard and difficult for people to stand-under things.

You need some under-standing as to how this is NOT good for any of us ANYWHERE, and that fools rely on trillionaire conglomerates that tell us that all of our health issues in this world are because of things we do to harm ourselves, mostly in the kitchen.

Trying to live with the realization that many things are not capable of entering the consciousness of most people is tough, but we can proceed onwards without ya.

Chernobyl's radiation didn't kill anyone and neither will Fukushima's.



Littering the ground with Depleted Uranium is good for the locals too.



Don't worry guys no one has ever died from radiation and the Fukushima crisis is really nothing to worry about.

Thank you. This is what I have been saying since the beginning. Arnie Gunderson has a hard-on for panic, I think. This has never been a rationally viewed phenomenon, from "tidal waves of radiation" to "radioactive ocean currents" to radiation in the atmosphere months after the event. SO STUPID.

Yes

Nuclear Meltdown vs Nuclear Explosion is still contested but most experts agree on some things

1. A meltdown is at least equivalent to a hundred explosions
2. Nuclear explosions have less total amount, but higher quality, shorter lasting, but more lethal radiation

Point is

No matter the difference, if it was going to destroy the world, there have been MORE than enough "testing" done to have finished us off

So yes

Meltdowns are worse..

Just not worse than the total number of tests by a LONGGGGGGG shot

Here is the difference, there is no off switch this thing is going 24-7 with no end in sight. Nobody has an answer think about that and compare it with the tests. Do people live in those areas?

Suggesting that the colossal radiation leaks from Fukishma is unimportant
deserves a Darwin award. Perhaps trolls of this thread would be
happy to demonstrate their faith in the harmlessness of the Fukishma
incident by visiting the site, up close ?

I understand that experts are now arguing about whether Fukishma
is 400, or 4000, times worse than Chernobyl (sic!) But at Chernobyl,
engineers were able to contain and seal up the nuclear material.
At Fukishma, they seem to think it's a reasonable strategy to
inflict a global extinction event on the planet... by dumping the nuclear
material into the pacific. Nobody is going to be safe eating pacific
fish, for thousands of years. In 10 years time, no one will be safe
to eat any sea food... from any ocean. Asian populations typically
eat an abundance of sea foods. Asian populations will be the first
to report horrific birth defeats and staggering rises in cancer frequencies.
And then the prevalence of those cancers and birth defeats will spread
around the world.

If you want to ignore these warnings.. then go ahead.
But remember... Complacency kills.

Point is with enough constant rads hitting you it will cause an impact on life..your life.

Yeah. Not saying it is not serious, but people love drama, whether legit or not. I live on the Gulf Coast and people still think it covered in oil and lifeless (It has been pretty much normal since 9 months after the explosion). Occasionally weather will stir up some sunken oil and there are still signs of it here and there, but if you go out there (I have, and often), you will see pods of dolphins, tons of birds, and catch lots of fish. And the seafood is the most tested on the planet. Chinese seafood is much worse for you than Gulf product at this point.

Point being - people love their drama and love to play the self righteous freedom fighter whether they are actually just being self indulgent and catering to their own narcissism (99% of the time) or whether they are right (sometimes, occasionally it is justified).

There are hundreds of billions to trillions of tons of radioactive uranium in the ocean, NATURALLY.

Not to mention Carbon-14, potassium-40, radium, etc....


HOW MUCH radiation is released into the environment isn't the issue...

It's the relative concentration of it, and your proximity to high concentrations.


What you are saying, is that a single drop of cyanide released into the ocean will kill everything that lives in the ocean.... it's patently false, dose rate MATTERS.

It is what it is, and whatever it is, it has happened. We can't stop it...

I tend to think that everyone who is hyperventilating now is missing just exactly how much water there is in the ocean as compared to how much is leaving the reactor. So far, it's not good, but it's not a death sentence, either.

The big issue would be another disaster happening before they can really get in a stabilize it. If that happens ... well, it will be what it will be...

But there is very little sense in worrying about it day in and day out.

Emphasis added by me to ask, What does that phrase even mean? I hear/see people saying it sometimes and I don't understand it's meaning or it's point. Not to bash you, just kind of annoyed I have no idea what that phrase means and how it relates to the discussion.

But also it hasn't just happened, it is happening everyday, and has been since March 2011. 300 tons of radioactive water into the ocean every single day, with no way to stop it so there's no telling how long this will go on for.

The biggest concern right now is if one of the 1,000 or so spent fuel rods are dropped in the removal process, and strikes another rod, it will start a series of mini fusion reactions that will spew endless amounts of radioactive particles into the atmosphere and will absolutely be unstoppable.

We're not all dead yet because there hasn't been enough time for the radiation in the atmosphere to reach concentrated levels and spread around the globe. With this ongoing event however, it is bound to happen sometime.

Take this article as just one example.

"We are just now starting to get our hands on recent data from 2011. It means that we start by looking at the fetus and the newborn because they are the most susceptible to radiation. And we are going to be looking at not just hypothyroidism but at further birth effects: infant deaths, babies were born underweight; babies were born prematurely- things of that nature to see before and after Fukushima if there was a difference. It’s gonna take decades to know what the full casualty list of Fukushima is because sometimes it takes decades, for example, for a cancer to show itself, to manifest itself after the exposure," Joseph Mangano explains to the Voice of Russia’s host Jay Johnson, who conducted the interview.

He goes on:

Recently, Japan has surveyed 200,000 children near the Fukushima plant in 2012 and has found out that 56% of the children under 18 have a precancerous lesions which is absolutely off the charts, as it should be almost none, says Mangano.
"It’s an ongoing study by Fukushima Medical University. They also found as many as 59 kids had thyroid cancer and that’s a condition that’s very rare in kids. We would expect in three years maybe one or two. They confirmed 26 and they suspect another 33. So, this is just the beginning. So, as I said once enough time passes for enough concentrated radioactivity to circle the globe, people are going to start dying, if not from the hot food they'll be eating, most likely from hot particles being carried by the gulf stream, and storm systems.

I mean, personally since there is nothing I can do about it, I don't let it worry me day in and day out. I try to live my life as best as I can. There's no reason to harp on people that are concerned with this really. Where else are we going to talk about it? The media sure doesn't report on it, and don't tell me it's because it's not a big deal or else TEPCO wouldn't have any reason to cover up the actual readings of radioactivity in and around Fukushima. If you have a problem with people speculating a very real possibility of a lot of people dying, then you may be on the wrong conspiracy site.

I think this phrase is slightly misleading.... and you should probably stop using it.

To say that 300 tons of radioactive water is leaking into the ocean, implies that every molecule is radioactive.

Which it is not.

We have 300 tons of WATER leaking into the ocean, which contains a few milligrams of radioactive material in it.
