You've been doing this for years!

Yes.

A silent cheer for ArtMap, yay, and thanks for doing such a good job.

Thanks, although my user name is ArMaP, not ArtMap, but I am a patient person.

In those years have you ever seen anything that's gotten you excited, one that you think is "other then a simple rock"? thanks again.

I remember one that, although I think it's a rock, the presence of that rock on that area is strange, even to me.

It was posted some years ago, along with a "monolith", but most people (and the media that reported it) mixed two photos and ignored the one that was, to me, the most interesting. I will look for it (I should have created an archive long ago).

Edit: I found it, it was this one, found by jkrog08 on an Italian site.

It's nice to see the monolith pic, is there a thread of analysis?

Not that I know, with all that confusion with the two photos this one was mostly ignored.

Well, sir, please do the honors. Or then again, we can do it on this thread and add to its "value".

How tall? How exact are the monolith's faces which can be seen? Who's on first? The shadow shows a very regulated rectangle shape, with little variance. And it sits on a very flat surface, with no other major surface rocks in the vicinity except a collection of smaller ones near its base. And have any of the orbiting Mars imagers taken a closer look at this from slightly different angles?

Yeah, this one seems to be a very black rock, or a sleeping black cat, or a dark day on just a very tiny portion of Mars. Darkness falls, but not very much of it.

that is one interesting  have you any information on that where it is

It's somewhere on photo PSP_006737_1265, as this was in 2009 I don't remember it well, but I think it was close to the top of the photo.

The one closest to the camera looks like pumice, that's why it looks darker, as it reflects much less light than the other rocks around it.

I think Buzz, if I'm not putting pebbles in his mouth, is saying that what he sees is like a meat-eating plant which has a mouth on the end reaching up. He has a very cruel mind, as can be seen by his eyes (the eyes are the window to the snow). That last is sarcasm of course, Buzz wouldn't hurt a fly (but his Mars pitcher plant would).

But what it may be is two rocks which come together in perception to form a familiar image, augmented by the light and shadows on the two rocks.

Triffids! What a great movie. I actually feel bad about recognizing that those are possibly two rocks with the coincidence of the light shining off them which make a really cool image - a Martian-flytrap. It shows I've been on this thread too long, and am learning how to look beyond the obvious shapes, a lose of innocence that reminds me of a girl named LuLu.

EDIT: I was going to post a pic of a Triffid, and just read that someone's doing a remake of the 1962 movie. Never trust a triffid, is my motto.
