Today, Bethlehem, as well as other parts of the Palestinian Occupied Territories, continues to be under an illegal and brutal siege.
Confronting this weary family is not the occupying forces of the Roman Empire, as in ancient accounts of the nativity, but rather it is the occupying forces of the Zionist Israeli regime.

Oh, nonsense. This is just Islamist propaganda. Bethlehem proper (the city) is under Palestinian control. I was just there, had to go through separate passport control and everything.

But beyond that, who built the 2nd temple in the first place? Muslims? No, they built the Dome of the Rock ON TOP OF the temple after they sacked Jerusalem and took it over from, guess who? The Jews. It's Islam that is occupying the Jewish temple--not the opposite.

On 23rd of December 2013, Bethlehem Unwrapped festival opened with the unveiling of a 8m high life size replica of the separation wall that has been built by Israel in the West Bank. It has been constructed over 8 days in the church yard of St James' near Piccadilly Circus in central London in a bid to bring some reality of what it is like to live in Bethlehem in 2013.

They should fight out to see who's right.

Or enlist the aid of radical bhuddist fundamentalists to sort it out.

There are Israeli checkpoints you have to go through. When you control access to a place then you control the place.

The Muslims took Jerusalem from the Jews?? Jerusalem hasn't been a Jewish city since the Romans kicked them out. Ever since it's been the Christians and Muslims fighting over it. To this day Jews have no real claim to it.

Well this makes sense. One side is given the latest weapons and the other side is lucky to have Vietnam era weapons. Make both sides equal then let them go at it.

Forget it Shuyler..... the user 'buster' is illogical.

They fail to see what you have pointed out..... its too hard for them to admit they are in the wrong with this thread. They seem to forget that the Jews were there before the British, the Muslims or Palestinians or even Christians!

In like 70 ad they were removed from that land by the Romans not the Muslims. By that logic, us Americans have even less right to the land that we directly took from the American Indians only a few hundred years ago. If you think that the Muslims should have no problem with giving back property they have owned for thousands of years to the original owners, then you should have no problem at all with giving your property (assuming here you're an American), which you or your family have paid for, back to the Indians...

I'm illogical? I am not the one denying reality.

In Little Town Of Bethlehem, U.S. Aid On Display At Christmas Market

Israel's tall concrete separation wall surrounds part of Bethlehem. Visitors go through an Israeli military checkpoint at the main entrance.

And here is the timeline of Jerusalem it hasn't been under Jewish control in a long time and it wasn't the Muslims that took it from them. And even now by UN mandate they only have half of it.

And by your logic that land really belongs to the Canaanites whom the Jews took it from.

Yep, you got it.
There's got to be some point where an old claim to land is trumped by newer claims, and I'm pretty sure that almost 2000 years is way pushing that cut-off point.

You do realize that bethlehem sits inside palestinian controlled area. And in fact israelis are barred from entering bethlehem. The only reason you actually go through an Israeli checkpoint is if your traveling from Jerusalem because you have to enter into Israel. You know like every other country in the world they have border guards who will check your passports i know ive been there. The only walls around bethlehem is one that separates it from a poor area in GAZA they didnt want to ruin the tourist trade. So they kept the wall and infact expanded on it even the palestinians know better then giving some groups direct access to bethlehem.

The palestinian authority could remove this wall anytime they want but they wont for fear of losing tourists. So this exile is self imposed they purposely trying to maintain a border and palestinians arent even allowed to go in without proper paperwork. As far as Israel occupying anything its a joke i dont think people realize just how much they already gave the palestinians control over.

Darn nice of them to allow them limited control over their own land. Sort of like how we let the American Indians control all the casinos and other bits of land that we have no use for....

It makes no difference who it was that took it from them..... you just prove my point by showing me a diagram of how the Jews are the original inhabitants of that land (since none before them are around today to claim it e.g. Canaanites).

Correct.... if any Canaanites came forward today to reclaim that land, according to Jewish law, no Jew is allowed to step in their way. However, they don't exist anymore, so your example is irrelevant and hence the land is rightfully the Jews' homeland!

No.... during wartime they conquered, they eventually lost the lands they conquered as the kingdom fell, and the original syrian and lebanese descendants of that land reclaimed there land, and lived their until today!

If no Jews were left living today, the land would go to the Palestinians since they lived there for the last few decades (or centuries - if you define a Jordanian refugee as a Palestinian). But Jews are alive and well and they remember where they came from!

No wonder Israel is ethnically cleansing the Palestinians, you don't want any heirs left to dispute your land claim

That 'cut-off' point you are talking about is called extermination of a nation. If you want the land, then there is no other way, otherwise the descendants of any nation will always come back to haunt you.

You cannot expect people to just sit back and pretend history never happened!
