Numbers you probably never heard of

I was bored and asked Google what comes after a Trillion and found this on Yahoo! Answers:

10^15 = quadrillion
10^18 = quintillion
10^21 = sexillion
10^24 = septillion
10^27 = octillion
10^30 = nonillion
10^33 = decillion
10^36 = undecillion
10^39 = duodecillion
10^42 = tredecillion

I have no idea if the person is 100% correct or not all the way through, but damn he/she deserves praise for the effort he/she put in with that reply.

It also got me thinking: I wonder what use these numbers could have in the practical sense. What is something so abundant that it could be counted using such extensive measurements? My proposal: the number of bacteria present on planet Earth...

Any suggestions?

I'm not sure that's accurate, "tre" is from latin meaning 3. But then, I'm not a numerologist.

Almost every situation that uses numbers in excess of a billion uses scientific notation. This allows us to go to any number we can think of both big and small.

Give the link a read if you have not come across it before.

As an Electrician, you would learn about the charges of electrons. The units of measurement are called coulombs. They re some thing like 1.6 / 10^ -19
