The "I like the new ATS.5/3" thread

I am seeing a lot of complainy wah-wah threads about the rollout of ATS.5/3.

Like so:

I am not seeing as much positive acceptance or adapting to the changes as there should be.

I like the new look and layout. Anyone else?

It takes about 5 minutes to get used to, and it has more navigation options. I don't use ATS on a mobile device, but it probably will blow the pants off the old version when all the kinks are worked out.

So the emoticons need a little work, big deal. It's already getting handled.

Let's stop the crying and get on to enjoying the site! Happy like this guy:

I like it too. Change is good. Even if there are some SMALL inconveniences during the transition, it's still worth it for overall progress.

Yup.

I like it just fine. But people will complain about anything just for the sake of complaining.
I'd be willing to bet that a good portion of the folks who say they are leaving because of the new format will be back within the week.

Compared to the other conspiracy sites ATS looks like a luxury automobile sitting next to a golf cart.

I like it too. It's much easier for me to see.
I do miss the auto refresh on New Topics but all in all, I like it very much.

This format is easier on the eyes.

It's also "less busy".

Change can be hard for us mere mortals....myself included. It just takes time for the adjustment period to settle in and the new norm to be accepted.

I don't really have any problems with the new version...sure, it takes time to figure out the "in's and out's" but that's just life.....change is a constant event in our journey.

For those complaining....I say...consider it a new adventure and make the best of it.

It's been a rough road, but in the end I personally consider this my best work.


One request for the dark-side lovers out there. Give the light version a chance.

The original concept was conceived and designed for the light version which is a very subtle very light warm gray, not white, which is the optimal on-screen background color closest to paper (especially for flat monitors). At first it seems monochrome, only because you're used to lots of colors around the edges of content calling for your attention.

But that's to focus on the center -- the content.

Most of our staff who have given it time ended up reporting that they now prefer the light version -- even Springer who was bugging me about a dark version every time I showed a new update to staff.


Step into the light!

I don't mean to sound whiney, but I preferred the old version.

I joined ATS not only because of it's user base, but because it's format was user friendly and right 'up my street'.

This one seems a bit to 'bloggy' for my liking, and the green? ehh.

This box I'm typing into right now isn't so bad - but I'm sorely going to miss the live thread feed in it's previous format.

I must admit, Im liking the dark version now. And my android phone is working alot better with ATS now. I can upload my pics directly from my phone now, Unlike before

Seems more busy in my mind, maybe that's just me, I do have my tendencies.

ETA: I figured it out - it's because the avatar box isn't the same length as the text box, and because the text box is an inch or two from reaching the other, blank, edge of the screen.

I do my own head in some times! lol

I love it. It's crisp and it loads fast.
