I missed your thread, up till now.

What I am finding out, is this "curriculum" is part of the Common Core "standards",
we can thank Bill Ayers, Bill Gates, and Obama... I guess Saul Alinksy too.

There is another aspect to this story that is not so obvious in these news articles,
which is the fact that all of these students are also monitered, and tracked now
and the results of this are to be logged into a data base that has been funded by
Bill Gates, Rupert Murdoch and other "elites".

What many here fail to understand, and it was just laid out for me in
another thread...perhaps this excercise is done with the technique of persuasive writing...

I sincerely doubt that this is presented to the students as such, therefore the

Even if it was a legitimate assignment, it was in poor taste. I imagine that these educators live in a universe far from ours.

I remember when I was a kid reading Anne Frank's diary for the first time. I was in Junior High. I had been raised on WWII movies - and of course I knew the Germans were the bad guys - who didn't?

Until I read that book I had no idea - none - what human beings were actually capable of doing to each other

I hated the Germans. Hate. I thought they must be inherently evil. This is how we think when we are children - it's them - never us

I suppose it's possible this teacher is an anti-semite and he got his jollies from all this. I guess he could just be dim. I'm going to go with brilliant - an give him the benefit of the doubt

I had several teachers in high school that might have done the same thing. They were good at making us feel uncomfortable - and demanding that we use our baby brains. They wanted to see us grow

Anyway - I grew up to realize - it's not just them. Under the right conditions it could just as easily be us. It wasn't until I was older that I learned that one of my grandfathers lost most of his family in the Ukrainian anti-Jewish pogroms at the beginning of the last century

I find it interesting and comforting to find out that so many students refused to participate

It was an excellent lesson - even if he didn't intend it the way it played out

You keep your kids safe and home school them beezzer - you wouldn't want them being exposed to anything like this - imagine the consequences

I dont think most parents are aware of this, when they find out they are outraged.

My son is a rare treasure. He is smart. Much smarter than I. I would be doing him a disservice placing him in a public school.

He is active in scouts.
We go horseback riding.
He is well spoken for a 10 year old and we would be doing the world a disservice keeping him hidden away from everything. We have immersed him in German culture. He's more fluent in Spanish and German than I am.

He wants to learn latin.

He thinks algebra is a game, a treasure hunt where the answer is the prize.

Since living in Germany we have visited several countries. I've tried to teach him that America has a culture, but so does every other nation. No culture is better than another. Just different. Respect for the people living in these different cultures. Honour. Dignity for those that live differently than we do.

That is my son.

Well - nothing I can add to that - or take away from it either. He's your son - and you're going to do what you believe is best for him

This entire discussion (here - and out there) is about educating kids. Public schools aren't what you think they are - there are a lot of amazing teachers out there - and schools full of amazing kids. I seriously don't get the paranoia

They come with a lot of problems - and that's the truth. It would be wonderful if more parents got involved - and worked to make them better
