Its strictly business you must understand.

The QE that America will not end has really hurt Australian exporters. America has forced Australia to dump the USD in International Trade with China who happens to buy a third of Australian Exports. Now that Australia has shown that business is more important that 'friendship' you will see Australia make more announcement's of direct trade with other nations.

But if America was really Australia's friend would they be attacking our exporters by manipulation of their currency through 'Unlimited Quantitative Easing'? We get the message America. You do not value friendship with Australia. Thats fine. Australia is an Asian nation and we are well positioned to enter the Asian Century.

Australia is the first of America's 'friends' to jump ship. We have seen the BRIIICS members agreeing to direct trade deals and some western nations have been doing it here and there. But this is different. China and Australia are going to agree to use our own currencies for all trade between our nations. The Australian Governments 'white paper' on The Asian Century has given us many idea's on how Australia can fit into the Asian Century. Having America as a friend is a burden. Having America as a friend is Australias's greatest challenge heading into The Asian Century.

I think other Western Nations will see what Australia is doing and follow suit. Sorry about that mates. Just business you understand. Money talks and America walks.

You do realize the China's currency is heavily manipulated, don't you? In fact, much more so than the U.S. So if somebody manipulates their currency in your favor they are a friend, and if it is not manipulated in your favor, they are not. Your understanding of the currency trade is lacking.

F**k the Asian Century... How about we just stay out of everyones business and look after ourselves for a change? Piss in the USA's pocket and we are on our own, simple.

We actually could now that we found all those trillions of oil in South Australia.

Australia has everything. But we do rely on inflows of capital and that is where China comes in. Not to mention all the other benifits of being an Asian Nation in the Asian Century. We will boom and boom if we can ditch America.

Why cut ourselves off when we are the most well positioned OECD nation? We rule.

Yours is lacking.

Unlike China the US holds the Reserve Currency.

Ever heard of Triffin? I am guessing no.

Why nations like Australia and Japan are angry at America is because America are driving up the price of our currencies and this is hurting our exporters. What China does is of little concern. And the only ones complaining about China manipulatng their currency are America and friends.

America has a responsibility to manage the Reserve Status in a sensible fashion. Instead America uses the Reserve Status to attack its so-called friends.

America is our leader? No wonder the world is such a mess.

Thank god for the BRICS who have been working for years to unseat the USD as Reserve and liberate the world. The job is almost done.

Shame on America for using the Reserve as a stolen Credit Card. Shame on America for running up 17 trillion in debt plus unfunded liabilities that they will never ever pay. Shame on America for failing to be a good leader. Shame on the American people for continuing to vote for the REP/DEM duoploy regime.

All hail China! Our new superpower. All hail the BRIIICS. The power bloc in the world. All hail the BRICS Bank that will destroy America's Imperial IMF.

RIP America. I dont think you will be missed somehow. We will not forget though.

The day Australia has a deal to install a military base in the United States, and not the other way around, you let me know and we'll talk about how much you "rule".

This is true, but on that note... we seem to also class entire countries by their leaders.

In a school yard, you will see the person as representing himself. Unfortunately in this world, we have the decisions of one influence the image of many.

You have slagged off the British in another thread now you slag off the Americans - your gloats are not amusing and deliberately provocative.

I am guessing you are an asian Australian which is why you rejoice in your delusion that Australia is now going to unite with Asia.

Good luck with that when the Americans remove their bases and the British leave you to fend for yourselves when Indonesia and China come knocking - looking for land ....

Hahah are you Chinese ? Good luck with your new leading super power ..

China is truly a benevolent ally - oh yea ......

BTW the Queen is still your head of state .. and the US still provides most of the defensive military capabilities that Australia has.

I am guessing you are very young too - maybe a teenager. It shows BTW.

Sorry, Mates, Strictly Business: Australia Wants To Cut Out US Dollar In Trade With China

By Ryan Villarreal | March 29 2013 7:42 PM

Australia is seeking to bypass trading in U.S. dollars with China in an effort to avoid the commercial uncertainties that come with the recent fluctuations in the greenback. For example, just a half a year ago, the dollar traded at about $1.20 to the euro; by February, it had weakened to $1.34 per euro and now it is going for $1.27.

...
Sponsorship Link Eliminating the dollar in trade will be the focus of Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s trip to Beijing next week. Trade with China, Australia’s primary trading partner, totaled $120 billion in the last fiscal year. China buys nearly one-third of Australian exports

Im not Asian.

I am tired of waiting for the western fake left.

I waited for all the wars to end. I waited to get rid of Howard and Bush. I waited.

It only got worse.

China is a new hope for the world.

How can good people continue to support our evil western governments? You bag them for your own selfish reasons. Think the IMF has done a good job? Think OECD nations and 'upward mobility' have worked? I do not.

China and the BRICS nations know what it is like to be dominated by us OECD nations. They understand the problems of the justice seeking nations of NAM. We do not.

We are barbarians in trousers. We should all be ashamed.

Baby boomers should be unable to look in the mirror. But if the rest of us want to perpetuate this evil then shame on us.

I am with China.

All hail China!

Now would be a very good time to dump the US as an ally as well militarily, they are heading into a seriously aggressive phase with this currency/cyber war and we should not get dragged into another one of her wars. We have blindly followed the US into every war that it started and got nothing in the way of loyalty back so I say good riddance to the selfish big brother who never once offered anything back but tarrifs and taxes on our goods.

Do you think you would be sitting so pretty right now if it was not for the protection afforded you by the US and her military bases in Australia ?

What about the war in the pacific that the US fought and stopped Australia being invaded.?

Without America you would have been Indonesia or China mark2, years ago ..

www.theage.com.au...

What has US done for us? A lot, actually

If there must be one superpower, let it be one that shares our values, writes Peter Costello.

Last Monday was the 60th anniversary of the victory in the Pacific. Australia and the United States went into World War II separately but came out of it together: as allies, as friends.

By February 1942 the continental mainland of Australia was under direct air attack. Australia faced its gravest security threat. But beginning with the naval battles in the Coral Sea, with the Australian land defence of Port Moresby and the island campaign under Douglas MacArthur, the war began to turn. It ended in circumstances that are well known.

Anyone who lived through that period knows that in Australia's greatest hour of need it was the forces of the United States that stood with us in the defence of Australia and ultimately secured victory in the Pacific.

Yeah...he reminds me of a lot of Aussie posters who kicked the bucket for no apparent reason.

I do know who you are talking about, but i will not divulge his name. The fact is that a lot of Aussies share the OP's sentiments, and such ideologies are volatile on ATS, because ATS is an American website.

The truth is that some of the Americans here cannot take these things lightly. A lot of you skitz out...

You're right. We don't take these things lightly because they're so hilarious. The idea of Australia---the prison state----ruling the world or economy is just so hilarious. We like you guys, we WANT to like you guys, we have blockbusters when you dress up in crocskin hats and tell us "that's not a knife; THIS is a knife." But we laugh our @sses off when you say you're going to "rule" anything. Because we would have loved to have that "ruling" attitude when we were saving the world from WW2.

ETA: my apologies if you're not Australian. I direct that to Australians who share the sentiment.

There seems to be a lot of paranoia regarding Australia's future in the region.

Prison Population Per Capita
USA: 716 per 100,000 people
Australia: 129 per 100,000 people

en.wikipedia.org...

Times change--I think from the above metric it is far more apt to call the USA the prison state
