Yep this is what America is nowadays... Most people refuse to face the truth. We finance the war with our tax money, we allow the Government to do whatever they want. Better there than here right?

It is sad that most people don't even see the resemblance of our military activities to the Nazi in the WWII.

Just like Americans, the Germans refused to believe that they were the aggressors.

THE HORROR: NYC Schools Give Innocent Precious American Children Books About War!

Learning about the horrors of war is fine for some children in other countries, like when somebody has to explain why a kid's entire family was just blown up in a drone strike. But it is NOT OKAY for American children to learn about all the wars their parents' taxes finance abroad. At least that's the moral of today's NY Post "exclusive," which insinuates that "city and state education bureaucrats" are going to traumatize third graders by recommending illustrated books like The Librarian of Basra, which shows airplanes dropping bombs on Basra

Good! Teach them about this worlds crap. They will be more motivated to stop it when they are older. I'm sick and tired of parents sheltering kids from truth.

If it stops them joining the army and killing children in Yemen, Libya, Iraq, Afghan then it can only be a good thing.

The reason why kids join the army, is because it's glorified by media and morons.

Having read the artcle the following can be stated:

What do we want in this country, and for the children? Do we want them to think about guns and violence or not? Are we wanting to be careful about what wars the government gets involved in or not? What kind of a society do we want and want for our children?

What is the problem with this book, if it is done in a tasteful age appropirate way, there should not be any controversy. We punish children for being children, for their natural tendancies to emmulate what they see. Can't let them play cops and robbers, can't have them play cowboys and indians, can't let them play soldiers at school, yet the problem is that we do not let them be children, nor are they showing that there are consequences to the use of guns. We tell them bad, have to shield them, perhaps it is time that we show them why such is bad. If it gives them nightmares, but keeps them safe, perhaps we should go for the nightmares and know that they will be hesitant before joining the military or picking up a loaded weapon and pointing it at someone else.

I believe it is not good for thrid-graders.

Overally I believe schools should handle such subjects, although not in third grade, but later on.

In here we have a bit different system.

In 5th grade we learn our country´s history, not to this day, but till around the First WW.
After that every year before high-school, there is one period :
6th grade .Ancient times (beginning - end of Roman Empire)
7th gradgeMiddle Age (Roman Empire- around 1500) ,
8th grade Early Modern (1500- First WW) and Modern History
9th grade (First WW- nowadays + our countrys recent history).

In Highschool the system is pretty similar at was in the 6th-9th.

Every period is gone through again, although now in more detail and analysing more than in previous years.

Very smart, why teach children about war in school where they can ask questions about it, when they can learn about it on TV from a single slanted point of view?

Hmm, I guess they don't join because they are patriots and simply want to defend our rights. Seems to me the things being glorified by the media and morons are drug use and gangs. Military heros should be glorified! Without them you wouldn't even be allowed to spew out this nonsense. It's obvious you don't have a clue about the true patriots serving in our military. Believe it or not, most of the people in the military feel a moral obligation to serve because they love this country and want to defend our freedom.
