Will this law make it illegal for my grandfather to own his hunting gun with pistol grip? He has a pistol grip because has arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome and can't hunt without a pistol grip.

If something like this passes nationwide it will put thousands of people out of work and shut down hundreds of small companies manufacturing and selling AR15s, parts and components.

Just what we need.

Our Govt has truly gone full retard and Obama is going to surround himself with children tomorrow during his speech ??

It is truly disgusting and makes me want to puke.

These people will use anything, any method to strip away our rights spiraling right down into communism and at the same time In ChiCongo dozens of kids under the age of 18 are shot weekly under Rahms strict gun laws.

Obama supports Abortion and he is using kids to support his F'd up agenda of Gun Control ??

I just hope he doesnt sign that UN gun control treaty. If he does that we are screwed.

Thats the way I feel.

I am sure Brzezinski and Soros are right in there in the thick of it along with a few other despicable a$$holes.
This is a major step of many to attempt to dismantle the constitution, reorganize North America and put the entire shebang under the domination of the UN, and I am sure OZero has a place at the top of the UN if and when it happens.

Law abiding but as of a few hours ago labeled a criminal in New York, time for mass disobediance, physical relocation or revocation and impeachment of politicians responsible.

Which will it be New Yorkers?

This will legally be an interesting "cake and want to eat too" case because the NY constitution if upheld as a 10th amendment states right specifically conflicts with the "supremacy" doctrine as determined by SCOTUS.

It seems to me if politics comes into play at SCOTUS and NY prevails then all other states that do have specific state constitutional individual rights to bear arms should then prevail on the same basis.

In order to preserve the "supremacy" doctrine then the court must rule this is violation of the US constitutions second amendment rights and nullify the legislation.

Looks kind of difficult for the commies to actually eat that cake they've baked IMHO

I think NY is a test bed for what will happen tomorrow.
I dont think its an accident that NY passed this law the day before Obongo gives his speech.

Although this may stop people from seeking psychiatric help, it is a great set of laws. If a professional psychiatrist is going to label you a danger to yourself or others... then you shouldnt have a gun.

I hope other states follow.

www.huffingtonpost.com... well it seems some members were right and all this is gonna do is keep more mentaly ill people from seeking treatment for their illness for fear or loosing rights or being branded as mentaly unfit

In interviews Tuesday, one expert called the new law meaningless and said he expects mental health providers to ignore it, while others said they worry about its impact on patients. Dr. Paul Appelbaum at Columbia University said the prospect of being reported to local mental health authorities and maybe the police might discourage people from revealing thoughts of harm to a therapist, or even from seeking treatment at all. "The people who arguably most need to be in treatment and most need to feel free to talk about these disturbing impulses, may be the ones we make least likely to do so," said the director of law, ethics and psychiatry at Columbia. "They will either simply not come, or not report the thoughts that they have." "If people with suicidal or homicidal impulses avoid treatment for fear of being reported in this way, they may be more likely to act on those impulses," he said.

With the mind reading technologies we have currently they might not have to say anything.

psychiatry could use a bit of an upgrade, wouldnt you say?

THANK GOD FOR THIS LAW!!!!

I can see it now:

A dark and stormy night. A horrible shell of a man, bent on causing terror because his dog growled at him the wrong way: he decides to go on a mass shooting spree at a movie theatre. He gets his AR-15 and starts to load his 30 round magazine up. As he begins to add ammunition to the magazine.. one, then two.. he has an uneasy feeling. "What is this strange feeling?", he asks. He then loads a third, fourth, fifth round. He begins to sweat.... six rounds, and then a seventh..... he picks up his eight round to press it into the top of the magazine - when it finally hits him, "Oh my god!" the horrible man cries out. "I can't possibly add any more rounds to this magazine, it would be ILLEGAL!".

.. and so another mass shooting was prevented by a sensible law and a man who understood that 7 rounds does not a mass shooting make.

Perhaps I should flesh this out a bit and start a thread, but I'd like to draw everyone's attention to the buzz phrase being used on EVERY MSM outlet regarding gun control:

"Gun Violence".

"We need to get rid of GUN violence." As if "gun violence" were somehow more heinous and reprehensible than say, baseball bat violence, or sexual violence, both of which occur WAY more often than "gun violence". And where is the uproar over domestic violence against children?

It is a little semantic trick to get people believing that GUN = VIOLENCE. It is not coincidental that the term is repeated over and over. It is classic conditioning.

GUNS = VIOLENCE.
GUNS = VIOLENCE

Get the picture?

Since guns = violence, the way to reduce violence is to get rid of the cause, which is of course - guns.

Socialist conditioning propaganda at its finest. Many of you are falling for it.
