No, the only way they could connect SN to "you" is if you give personal id info on here, ATS gives up your IP or your ISP is already monitoring your activities.

There is a 2 billion dollar data center for the National Security Agency going in at Tooele, Utah to say that isn't accurate any longer, if it has been for years anyway. Echelon is all but openly acknowledged anymore. The Hoover of data suction and correlation systems.

To be completely realistic and in terms of technical computer security, your anonymity online was shot the first time you used the same connection, during the same session to read a message at ATS while logged in and then checked a bank account.... logged into face book... Email... or any of a hundred other possible things we all have and do.

The main problem of being 'secure' is never, ever even open sites that relate to you in a real sense and sites where you don't want to have a connection on the same computer and/or same connection method/proxies. It's all technical stuff and network related at the ISP and server levels but what it means is that for Uncle Sam with billion dollar budgets, we have no anonymity unless constant work is put into it and it can never have a screw up. Not even once...if someone really cares enough to watch at all. Personally? I've never bothered trying to hide. Too much stress for little difference made in the end.

I understand that you went through all of that in an attempt to rid of yourself on facebook. You don't think they don't track every deletion, untag, and unlike with algorithms? I'm sorry to say even your hard efforts to delete all that you could is still going to be there. They track everything. I just stick with keeping myself on facebook. I don't care what they know about me. Oh no! They can see I may enjoy watching some twisted porno's, post pictures of my snake, and I play sims on my phone! AHH! I'm terrified. ...Not. They can't harm me and I have nothing to be afraid of.

That is ok for YOU. I hope that mentality works out for you.

If you are assulted by the biggest meanest baddest guy in the bar, I am guessing you just hit him back because you aint skeerd of NO ONE hu?

Not the smartest approach.
You WILL get your ass handed to you but I suppose you proved something..........TO YOURSELF!

OR

You could live to fight another day.
You could control yourself and be patient.
Wait.
Wait for the right moment.
Stop drinking!
Let him drink, and drink, and drink,
Then wait for him out in the parking lot with a Louisville Slugger and show him why assulting you was a very unfortunate choice.

Two ways to go about it.
One, you lose
the other, you win.

You keep being a bad ass on facebook all you want to.
I can tell you where it will get you but you probably don't care cuz you're such a badass.

I, as many others, preferr to be patient and choose my battles wisely.
There is always a time for everything.
You can fight THEIR battle or you can force them to fight YOURS.

But hey, what do I know?

I just feel better not having the distraction and not adding to the already bulging file I'm sure they have on me due to the political ramblings I undertook while having facebook, linked so many articles from ATS exposing all the BS we put up with daily, Ron Paul news galore pictures of Herr Harper with a facist stache you name it, I used it as my personal outlet for frustration. So saying that I know I am better off without it. And agree even with my efforts there's still a file out there with my name and image and aliases and such but as you said why worry, what they gonna do come for me?, and if they do oh well, pretty sure I wont be alone, so I'll just make the most of it LoL. Or go down guns a blazing either or I guess we cross that bridge when we come to it.

Facebook is a tool., Social media we talked about in that link there being a tool used by humans.

So lets say you use a hammer to bash someone in the face with. And you have your day in court. They can use that hammer as evidence in that case. A tool is a tool. And its up to the user to use it correctly.

So if you go on facebook, and start picking on people, using it to hurt, and or otherwise support those who hurt.

It is in essence, like using a hammer to do stuff except remove nails, or hammer in nails to a board.

The human user gives the tool its "good" vs "bad" value.

Facebook as a tool is good for those looking to spy on you, and get all the information they could ever hope to have given to them freely.
Facebook as a tool is bad for those who do not like to be spied upon, and is bad IMO all the way around.
Its just all context, and who you talk to about it.

Yes a fellow Canadian worried about the Vic Teows bills going through the house of commons, and all the other issues concerning the net and cyber spying Herr Harper and his rubber stamp senate have tabled for us, and I wish I posted more funny pics such as Juan there on mars, but most of mine were outlining failures or our gov. the Amerikan Gov. the horrors of Monsanto, the screw job doctor Paul got, so on and so forth stuff that likely ends up on a fusion centre harddrive labeled "INSaneThinking" LoL

Plan to move to the dirty Bert if the BC gov continues to screw us over, at least I can still buy land and a house in Alberta with out selling my first born and all the rest of my bodily fluids.

I do have FB after a long time of not having it. One page is a "political type" page but I use a vpn to log in. the other is one that I use, to obtain updates for things that interest me, movies, shows, games, etc..
Neither have my real name though.
I dont need FB to contact friends or family, since any friends or family that I want to contact are in my phones contact list.

I grew tired of posting political posts to facebook because essentially -- nobody cared. No matter how deep the subject was people still went about their daily postings about how their job sucks or what the weather was like. In reality people don't want to hear the bad and know just how miserably twisted the government really is. When I tried to post things I got alot of "lol tinfoil hat" or "ur fuked up" kinda response. Nobody believes whistleblower anyways. Oh but I post a picture of a cat and it gets 17 likes and 9 comments??

Harper is the worst PM we've ever had. We can say hello to child labor and internet censorship anytime soon with him selling us to China (pretty much what's going on). Come to Alberta
There's lots of work here. Moving up to the Edmonton area sometime soon.

A, I don't hang out in bars, B, I don't drink . C, I would probably be the smallest guy in the bar if it was the scenario you described. But through all this did it ever occur to you we are in the mess we are in because people like yourself didn't stop it right then and there, turned the other cheek waiting for a below the belt shot one too many times. Yeah and you are calling me a bad ass!!!!? No I am not a badass I supposed I was just instilled with different values growing up, and I wasn't the bully either. I stopped giving a crap. If they are going to come for me, they are going to come for me whether or not I have facebook. Maybe one more tool that could be attempted to be used against me I suppose, but it's not like they couldn't just plant whatever they wanted on my computer, and have some computer expert make people believe I had put it there.

Since I lost the girls, I don't got much to lose anyway, so screw it. Come at me if you want I guess

By the way, if anyone believes using screen names at ATS makes us anonymous, you're nuts. We're anonymous to each other and anyone can lie to ATS staff and ownership...but Uncle isn't fooled and only slowed down a little by that. Those Alphabet agencies like FBI and DIA wouldn't take but a few minutes to hook screen name here to real name and our street address.

You'd be surprised. If you do the thing right, you can buy an inordinate amount of time. Definitely more than "a few minutes".

Here's some handy tips based on my personal experience:

1) Generate a new name for the site you're going to be political on. It has to be new, something you've never used, something that doesn't relate to you. You might try flipping a phonebook open, randomly opening a newspaper and touching your finger to the page and find a usable word nearby.

2) Get your password the same way. Don't use a password you ever use anywhere else.

3) Generate a set of gmail, yahoo or whatnot generic email addresses in another town at the library or an internet cafe. Do not use your phone or computer to do this. Your browsers have an amazingly unique fingerprint that most of these sites log. Let them log someone else's. Never log on to these mail accounts even once from home.
Name them the same way you did your user name. Don't put wrabbit2000#1 or something.

4) Sign up on your target forum using the fake email at the same out-of-town computer. Do not use your granny's computer, either.

5) Never acknowledge anyone at the site. Even if you know them. Do not post to people you know IRL. Ever. Do not U2U or PM them from the forum. Ever. Don't "like" them. Don't "star" them. In fact, randomly like, poke and star people you don't know as much as possible.

6) When possible, do all your posting from afar, on computers you have no allegiance to. Try to randomize your times.

7) if that's not possible, use an out-of-country proxy, preferably one that's been left open by accident. Alternate your proxies a lot. Don't count on pay proxy sites - they log everything you do and some of them are likely to be Agency affiliated. The donkey one comes to mind.

8)If you're in a big city, get you a really nice wi-fi directional antenna and booster, and find a fool who's using no protection OR is using something easily crackable. You should consider in that case posting from a computer you buy at a yard sale or Salvation Army with cash unless you know how to alter your mac address occasionally. Definitely don't get an all-in-one like a Dell or laptop and then register it - the mac address is known and can be tied to you. Most of the box computers have means for giving up a unique ID too. And don't trust printers you own. Or copiers.

9) Never give anyone any personal info. Don't post photos.

10) If you have reason to believe you're made, jettison your entire setup. Never copy files from it to anything that's around your house. Don't make backups. It's hard for them to find files if they're not there.

11) Don't post about work related stuff. It's easy to find patterns, and they'll look for the guy that worked at LANL and was in the Army and was stationed in Germany from 84 to 90, and started a business and has done contracts for x, y and z, and then Bob's your uncle. Similarly, keep any health related stuff out.

12) Don't trust TOR.

13) and lucky 13, try to come up with some idioms you never use in real life, and don't use ones you do.

I have fingered a couple of people's real life id's here because they posted phrases they habitually use in conversation that were pretty unique, when combined with the topics they chose, it was a dead giveaway. Being me, I then had to mess with them. Alas.

There's you an example. I say "alas" IRL, I do it here. Bad bad habit if I was worried about that sort of thing.

Do all that, and they'll play hell getting you. I did some of that, and it took DIA literally WEEKS to get close to finding me IRL, and in fact the way they managed it in the end was by two things - I had posted one too many identifiable project descriptions, and was on a long long list of possibles, and I obviously knew one of the guys on the forum IRL, at least to some extent. So since it wasn't going fast enough finding who I was doing the Jay and Silent Bob method they hauled poor Jeff in and gave him the third degree, and he got word out to me that he was getting the all-but-waterboard treatment, so I called them and told them to stop.

I would absolutely be afraid of a 5'6" 160 lb man "IF" he were able to use what he has to his advantage.
Post all you want to on F.B.
It's ok with me but remember this.

WHEN the # goes down you aren't going to be doing anyone any good sitting in a prison cell.

There are WAYS to stand up to tyranny and oppression.
YOUR "way" is doing nothing but potentially getting YOU in alot of hot water.

My way.....well.....I am smart enough to not even discuss MY way online.

Either way, it's all good because I am not going to be living in the totolitarian nightmare that is fast approaching.
I feel for those who will be though.
