Again, the problem is the surveillance of the people, and the state supporting that.

Most of the users here are concerned with that "surveillance state" and censorship.

20+ years down the line, is more than what most people can comprehend; but we must if we are to ensure our freedom and counteract abuses of power.

And again - if people used Facebook properly, then there would be no need for concern. That was the point I was getting to. Be smart about what you post and who you share it with, then there is no need to worry about what is associated with your account (real or fake). And there will be no need to worry later on down the road should people find themselves in court. It's not rocket science. If you keep your account open for all the world to see, and link your profile in anyway to organizations that may be involved in illegal activity then you're asking for trouble.

Surveillance is going to happen whether we like it or not - all the more reason to be more conscious of what you post.

I see your point...use Facebook wisely. Its a good point but as soon you start talking to your friends and talking to them as equals you show your personality. Think about it...They have technology that can sense the inflection in your voice over phone calls. The littlest of comments on the Internet show so much. You think they can't analyze what you say on Facebook and know EXACTLY how you think? In all reality, We're risking a lot just posting in this forum. All of this stuff is logged. Remember that every computer when connected to the internet has a unique IP address, identifiable to the computer.

People don't realize that what they choose to say...however across the board and "non personal" it may be..it still identifies them within a group. To the on looker, your words can be quite revealing. Gotta be careful man. The best thing to do is to stay away from facebook all together. At least on Abovetopsecret.com there's less information on users for the rest of the public to see (keep in mind, the government can see anything and everything you do on the internet, if they so choose to.)

It ain't paranoia....it's truth. You can know all that and not be paranoid. If you're paranoid...they've won.
