Ew, Final Fantasy has such an overrated soundtrack, along with Zelda. Pokemon HeartGold has the best video game soundtrack ever. Every single song is marvelous. The music from Spyro comes very close too.

I've loved this song since I first heard it.

The National - "Exile, Vilify." from Portal 2.

Here it is in game:

Here is the winner of the video contest for the song:

Here is the runner up of the video contest for the song...the video that I prefer:

Most beautiful? Maybe its not the most beautiful, but when I'm roaming Fallout or Elder Scrolls games, the sounds of nature are very soothing for me. Not to mention all the old 50s songs in the Fallout games.

Most memorable? Driving around San Andreas GTA and listening to the country station because I found it the only tolerable station, aside from the reggae one.

This is my favorite piece of all time, in any video game. The first few minutes give me chills. Martin O'Donnell is a master! Halo 4 really missed his genius music.

The Entire Metal Gear series had fantastic music, from the MSX-2 originals to the modern console versions.

Anything composed by Jeremy Soule is awesome, Total Annihilation had a GREAT score, a game I still play and am an author of one of the more popular mods, Skyrim has a fantastic score.

Anything composed by Konami on the MSX, esspecially with the SCC sound chip, their NES games were awesome as well, esspecially Castlevania.

Frank Klepecki's first C&C titels had great music as well, especially the first Red Alert.

My two favourites are the music from Dragon Age: Origins and the music from the Silent Hill games. I love listening to soundtracks from games (and movies) so the actual list is quite long
Also the soundtrack from the Elder Scroll games and Mass Effect games are awesome.

My two all time favorite songs:

Laura's theme from Silent Hill 2

I'm the one from Dragon Age: Origins
