Here is another couple of articles with info on the action near the Turkey border, as well as info about what areas the 'rebels' have claimed to have seized power of in the last few days.

Again, this is the exact same narrative they used with Libya right before they pushed through the no-fly zone. It does appear to be escalating quickly now...

Not sure about that myself...No doubt there's no way to verify if those are legit...

This is the first confirmed hit of a Syrian helicopter by rebel forces. They have claimed several aircraft shot down that have proven to be faked.

This one shows an Mi-17 helicopter, you can hear a shoulder fired missile launch, and then see the hit on the side of the helicopter.



Another view that shows that it crashes shortly after being hit. It looks like he autorotates in.

Syria Claims Turkey Committed “Air Piracy,” New Documents Say

Documents posted online Monday by hackers associated with the online group Anonymous appear to give new details on a Syrian passenger flight from Moscow to Damascus that Turkish fighter jets forced to land last month. The incident sparked a diplomatic row between the two neighbors that have grown increasingly at odds as the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad attempts to crush a popular uprising.

I have also gotten a hold of the emails and documents associated with them. Some collaborators and I are reviewing them. There are quite a few, but the above report is among many to come within the next day or so.

I have just seen a report on CNN from a journalist inside Syria. I cannot verify the report as it most likely wont be processed into an article. The journalist met up with an Assad soldier who gives her a brief tour of what has been happening in one of the cities and the damage that has been done.

He goes on to take her through a hole in one of the buildings and show the reporter where the FSA are hiding in buildings within the city. They are snipers, the conflict has been labelled as a deadlock and this is just more proof that the FSA are hiding amongst the population of Syria.

But with that, it seems the Syrian Army are in control of the area and it doesn't seem as though they are slaughtering the population in that part of the country either.

Russia printed money for Assad's regime in Syria

According to the New York-based nonprofit corporation for investigative journalism, ProPublica, an examination of flight manifests obtained by the organization and published on its website proves that a Syrian Air Force Ilyushin-76 cargo plane made at least eight round-trip flights between Moscow's Vnukovo Airport and Damascus between July 9 and Sept. 15 last summer – each time hauling home 30 tons of freshly printed Syrian banknotes.

That means that Mr. Assad received about 240 tons of banknotes, which experts calculate would be about 240 million crisp new Syrian pound notes of various denominations. One Syrian pound is currently worth about 1.5 US cents.

Because we now have documents proving its all true. Propaganda? not at all. There are more documents inside of the emails we see on the web. Pages and pages. Letters to the UN etc...unfortunately all of this is going to take a lot of time to translate. Why doesn't MSM report on it? Maybe because they see this as being too much work to do with not enough of a payout.

Well, it will be interesting to see what comes out of it, and if the documents can be verified to be genuine.

I think what Penny was getting at was the (MSM) idea that Russia printing their currency is somehow wrong or illegal or secretive, when the SANA article dated Aug, reports govt statements about it. Hence, the propaganda label. It's no secret, and Syria can have their money printed by and wherever they want to.

Just b/c these countries - who've illegally overthrown govts more than once remember, illegally invaded countries and murdered over a million people based on proven lies (no sanctions on them?!) - just b/c they continue to be able to sanction other countries, continue to be seen as legitimate, to even be allowed to be part of the UN at all, based on their spurious claims, outright lies, and illegal actions, doesn't mean Russia or Syria have to comply with their pressure and pronouncements.

The 'baddies' are the ones who are in compliance with International law.

But, perception is everything....

In turn, Finance Minister Mohammad al-Jleilati pointed out that Syria had contracts with a European country to print currency, and due to the sanctions this country refrained from delivering this currency which is why Syria turned to Russia and printed currency and stored in to replace damaged notes, in addition to introducing extra currency according to changes in the GDP, affirming that the printing of currency has no effect on inflation.

Al-Jleilati said that there's a possibility for Russia to provide foreign currency loans to help Syria during this crisis, adding that Syria has sufficient reserves but the current conditions require extra reserves.

Hersh's report would also include:

"the Saudi government, with Washington’s approval, would provide funds and logistical aid to weaken the government of President Bashir Assad, of Syria. The Israelis believe that putting such pressure on the Assad government will make it more conciliatory and open to negotiations."
Clearly, that is exactly what is playing out now in Syria, despite the Western media's best efforts to portray otherwise. The US Army's own reports indicate that very hotbeds of violence in Syria today, match precisely with 2007 identified Al Qaeda-Muslim Brotherhood epicenters that were supplying terrorists to Iraq to fuel similarly deadly sectarian violence there.

Also a note, the Russians may have been printing currency for Syria, sending it to Damascus, but why was Syria sending plane loads of cash back to Russia via Ukraine? The files show that the money was moving in both directions. They also note that the planes either made stops in or flew over Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq and Russia. The plane used was a civilian aircraft.
