I have seen this issue brought up many times on ATS. Many have thought about this in regards to many theories.

So here I am to ask:
Would any active-duty military, if ordered to, fire upon US citizens?

If so, why?
If not, why not?

Definitely deserves an answer, IMO

I have seen this question many times on ATS...quite a few threads as well.

The short answer is no. But the situation dictates, ya know?

If US troops won't fire on the general public, then I'm sure there would be no shortage of Arabs that would be eager to step up to the challenge.

You sound like about 12 years old which makes your question excusable in its innocent ignorance. Kids like you need some lesson reminders in your own history.

Remember the Nixon year "Ohio" (1970) Kent State University much? If not, ask your daddy or mommy.

I believe your countrymen would. If they were told that the people were evil communists or socialists, they would. Although, the USSR, China, Cuba, North Korea, etc... are and have been state capitalists. They will follow whatever lie is currently being told. The very fact that they volunteered for your armed services implies that they are sheep.

It's going to depend on the level of brainwashing.

Hopefully there is enough individuality left to realize what is right and what is wrong.

Peace

The thing about the Kent State Massacre is that it was the Governor of Ohio that ordered up the National Guard (Not active duty troops) at the request of the city of Kent's mayor.

The rest though is just tragedy that is disputed to this day.

i do recall an article about this though
a u.s. commanding officer asked this to a national guard troop
if they would fire upon unarmed u.s. civillians
one of the ranks
stepped up and laid his rifle down and said that was an order he'd disobey
he was then followed by the rest of the troop
this wasn't all that long ago either

Posse comitatus has to be suspended first of all.

Let's say that it has been and US Troops are now patrolling your city due to some calamity, whether it be Natural or manmade.

They are there to provide assistance to the local government or FEMA. Naturally, people congregate to the assistance points, which often get out of hand.

Active duty troops are rarely in riot control mode as that has to be organized. So they do what they can to restore order. Sometimes in a violent manner.

Shots ring out from the crowd. The military will act accordingly, try to identify the shooter and take him/her down. Unfortunately, in this type of scenario, innocents will be shot as well.

It’s called, “The fog of war.”

Not if the Govt. tells me to. Not in uniform I wouldn't, I swore an oath.

But I'll be in my window picking off looters on my free time.
You've got to have principals.

How is it any different than gangsters shoot police officers or other people?

You people don't understand that this planet is crap. It is evil by human nature and very rarely do we see acts of compassion. I wonder why that is? Maybe since religion is dying, that has a play into it? Just my humble opinion...since most think that everyone in religion are evil.

Besides Kent State its been done before. Against veterans if you can believe it. I posted this info in another thread. Totally blew me away being a Mac Arthur admirer.

At 4:45 p.m., commanded by Gen. Douglas MacArthur, the 12th Infantry Regiment, Fort Howard, Maryland, and the 3rd Cavalry Regiment, supported by six battle tanks commanded by Maj. George S. Patton, formed in Pennsylvania Avenue while thousands of civil service employees left work to line the street and watch. The Bonus Marchers, believing the troops were marching in their honor, cheered the troops until Patton ordered the cavalry to charge them—an action which prompted the spectators to yell, "Shame! Shame!"

Sure, why not. Soldiers are people too, ya know? I'm retired now, but most of the people I served with were good people. Oh, yea, there are always dirtbags...but they are everywhere.

The question is a honest one that deserves a honest answer.

But the answer really is in a grey area don't you think? As I said before. The situation dictates what actions are taken in any given scenario.

They will not be "US Citizens" - they will be "Terrorists".

Take the chip - or be labelled a "Terrorist".

All terrorists must be killed.

Then the sheeple will live happily ever after.

Hope that answers your question.
