Money will be a bygone concept in 50 years.

(Also, I'll do ATS a favor): If Romney wins, I'll move out of the United States within three years (have to finish law school first).

I've heard that with every election since Clinton. Yet, not a single person I have ever heard say that has gone through with it.

Sorry, I don't believe for a second that a Romney win will be what causes you to expatriate.

From Rasmussen

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Ohio Voters finds Obama and Romney each with 49% support. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate, while one percent (1%) is undecided.
That was November 2nd polling and their margin of error is +/- 4.

Reuters is a statistical dead heat along with CNN and Institute for Public Policy. Many of those are leaning on the so called independents and in some cases casting them in to the side of Obama. There are instances where they are cast into Romney's camp too.

Point being, the polls are just polls. 1000 people doesn't represent political views consistently enough. While it may be statistically sound, politics are never that black and white as other polls may be.

I am not cheering anyone on here other than pointing out that pointing to polls and proclaiming a winner is as much a gamble as me going down to the local casino and playing blackjack. Statistically I should win if I play by the book; ask any gambler and they will tell you bull-squeeze.

The same applies to the polls; for either side.

Although the fact that Mr. Obama held the lead in so many polls is partly coincidental — there weren’t any polls of North Carolina on Friday, for instance, which is Mr. Romney’s strongest battleground state — they nevertheless represent powerful evidence against the idea that the race is a “tossup.” A tossup race isn’t likely to produce 19 leads for one candidate and one for the other — any more than a fair coin is likely to come up heads 19 times and tails just once in 20 tosses. (The probability of a fair coin doing so is about 1 chance in 50,000.)

Yup! Certainly looks like a Romney landslide

I assume you've never spent a little time at a roulette wheel?

With the flick of a switch, you'll see a run of black, red, even, or odd, sometimes stretching well over 10 in a row. If you still have the heart, and cash, to turn back and look at the next roll, you've got more than I. Usually this happens on all tables at once, wiping out progressive outside betters in time for the fresh meat after dinner crowd.

There appears to be no set weight for roulette balls, and I suspect technology, static blasts, or some kind of plasma thruster is the culprit.

There's no law against cheating, for the house. And there's no such thing as a fair election. The deck is a forced hand, from the start. If you enter the casino, you lose. Similarly, no matter which 'candidate' is elected, selected, or otherwise installed, we lost the very second that we allowed the continuity of the bush nwo rocket ship to evolve. Once all the real men were eliminated, the 'big boys' don't have to cheat any longer. The work of the zionists is complete.

There's still a lot of jostling at lower levels, however, if only to impress the ones above, to keep the patronage intact, and put the bacon on the table so to speak. We are supposed to be excited, and play along. Or no soup for you.

And who was the President in office that gave all those companies like Goldman Sachs a nice big bailout. The same President thats currently leading the "polls". I'm from Australia and have no bias towards either Republican or Democrat, and when you have no bias towards either candidate, then its a lot easier to see that most Governments [including the US] are OWNED by big business.

And when the choice is between either a giant douche or a turd sandwich, then is it really a choice ?

Picking between Obama and Romney is like being asked would you prefer to be punched in the left temple or the right. Yeah sure, you still get a choice, but you never win no matter which way you choose !

The only difference between a dictatorship and a democracy is that the dictator makes it a known fact that you're say doesn't matter, where as a Democracy will give the impression of having a say, while giving all the power to a select few.

I understand that people are brought up with the belief that their vote counts, but we also believed that the tooth fairy put money under our pillow, we also believed that a man in a red suit and a white beard scaled down the chimney and left us presents. There comes a time when we realise what we were told was told with best intentions, but it wasn't the reality. So why is it that people can accept that the tooth fairy and santa don't exist, yet just can't let go of the concept that their vote counts. Most of us knew way before our teenage years that the first 2 were a lie, but as grown adults, people still can't let go of the voting myth and accept the reality !

Women are half of the voters. Romney believes that women should be cared for, like any other chattel. Why any woman would vote for Romney, is beyond me. Yes, Obama is winning, not because he is a good president; it's because Romney, the candidate of the very rich, cares not for anyone who is not rich, you know, the voters.

How accurate can this info be when the average poll is 1500 people or less. I think Tuesday will be interesting. You know the great thing is we can still speak freely about who we support and better yet we can actually vote for the person we want without having to worry about being shot or killed (for the most part). Freedom to vote, speak and not being thrown in jail is very important. I just hope it continues for some reason I feel it is under attack by a bunch of nutbars. Well, may your guy win and if so please be respectful of the decision that is made. Crying, and stomping your feet like my 6 year old because your guy lost just reflects poorly on your party. Good luck.

The only poll that matters will be taken on Tuesday.

Exactly.

Polls can be made to look however you want them to. The left wing sites have Obama way ahead and a sure win. The right wing sites have Romney way ahead and a sure win. Both claim to have the 'correct polling data'. But the race is so close and the polls keep changing .. NO ONE KNOWS who will win until it's all over. And I predict recounts because it'll be so close that whoever doesn't win will demand them. It'll probably be days before we know who won ....

Probably because women are concerned about the economy ... concerned about Benghazi-gate .. concerned about Fast and Furious .. concerned about the unsustainable Obamacare being forced upon America .. etc etc etc.

Romney may be no prize, but neither is Obama.

The formats are negotiated between the campaigns; the “moderator” is given a list of acceptable questions and the candidates rehearse the answers. Even the supposed town meeting format is carefully controlled.

If you believe that Obama is a Marxist Muslim from Kenya, nothing he can say will change that opinion. Likewise, if you believe that Romney got rich by laundering drug money for Mexican cartels, you are unlikely to suddenly support his candidacy.

Lets pretend our vote really counts& "they, them,"that owns everything will let us choose our leader...........

Another factor that might affect the outcome in close votes is voting for a third party candidate. In 1992, Ross Perot took votes away from both sides, but probably took more from Bush 41, ensuring a Clinton victory. It definitely made a difference in the 2000 election. Ralph Nader took virtually all of his votes away from Al Gore and if those people had voted for Gore, the election would not have been close enough for the Bush schemes to be effective.

With the two major candidates being less than desirable to many, there is a strong temptation to say that there is no difference and voting for a third party candidate to make a “statement.” As much as it may pain you, the next president will be Obama or Romney. Accept that reality

Polls, when looked at over a long period of time and at many different polls, have a very very good historical track record on predicting the results of elections.

Polls aren't some new thing that just popped up, they are proven statistical models. You can get a clear picture of what is going on by only sampling 1000 random people over and over and over.

The trend in Ohio is that Obama is leading by 2-3 points and Romney can't close that gap.

I still don't believe these polls. Does not compute.

Obama enthusiasm is not what it was in 2008

Romney closed a 16 point gender gap with women and now leads by 2

Romney is up by 14 points with males

18% of white democrats may vote Romney

Religious leaders and community leaders that once supported Obama have changed that position.

Small turn out at Obama events, massive turn out at Romney events. Almost a complete reversal of party enthusiasm from 2008.

And don't count out last minute decisions to vote Romney in the privacy of a voting booth.

Undecided voters usually break for the challenger.

All logic points at a Romney victory, contrary to these polls.

We will definitely find out in the coming days as to the accuracy of the polls or the will of the people.

Romney enthusiasm has enthusiasm from usual older voters which is not surprising and usual war hawks. Even though Obama and Romney both are war mongers and have the same polices as there previous counterparts.

massive turn out at Romney events

You must be thinking about that Rally in Ohio where supposedly it claims that there were 30,000 at the rally? well sadly i looked at the footage from that and photos from previous Romney supposed Massive rallies, the images and videos completely tell a different picture, from the reported numbers.

Does not compute.

or the will of the people.

I think Chris Christie as a moderate Republican will be the best choice for the GOP in 2016 if they want to remain relevant in American politics.

Christie is already being written off as a Rino. a northern liberal yadda yadda..aka, he was supposed to give the POTUS the finger when he arrived and said he needed no help or some such.

____

As far as polls..well, the left believe what is reported. the right believe what is not being reported.

Come tueday, we will know which media is spinning nonsense and which is reporting facts...I do hope that once the dust settles, those whom have been duped will demand those whom mislead them be dismantled as organization, be it rasmussan, msnbc, fox, cnn, etc...until then...well, just watch what happens...game is already set now.

Tuesday is coming. We'll see how accurate these polls are. I think they are simply last-ditch attempts by the left to sway the vote. The zeitgeist does not favor Obama. For that many people to ignore that would be very suspect.

Many Obama supporters arent bothering to post much any more.
The threads started by GOP supporters are usually based on twisted Context, and Pipe Dreams.
Ill be glad when this Election is Over, and Romney Supporters regain their Sanity.

Wow, another comment by an apparent Romney supporter/Obama-hater that ignores the facts. What polls weren't included? Oh yeah, Romney campaign internal polls. How biased of this report.

Furthermore, this wasn't just one "cherry-picked" poll; it was multiple polls for multiple swing states (although I don't know why Maine was included in this category).
