Cold Tracks Poetry Writing Contest [CTPWC] [Winners Announced]

Listen to Jadea Kelly while thinking on life... its heartbreak and joy wrapped in one song. Reflect on those you love, have loved and lost.

Put into a poem, however long or short, the sweetness and bitterness of companionship, whether it's a favourite pet, a family member, a husband or wife or even the other half of your split personality (if you happen to have two).

Enter as many poems as you like, but post them as seperate threads in the Short Story forum.

No upper or lower word count limits

Any poetic writing form acceptable

There will be three winners chosen, based solely on the number of flags their story receives from your fellow members.

The contest runs until midnight, November30 and the winners announced the following morning of December 1.

Winners only will get writer status, 5 'applauses' each and included in the Showcase of Winners

Okay you got me all sappy from the song.. So I will throw my heart into the ring here

So far I have seen some great works done already! This should be a good turn out. Something about this topic, will bring out the best in us here.

Are poems written in one's younger day...and already published, acceptable for submission?

As long as its written by you, and follows the guide lines of the contest. Then anything you have written can be submitted. As long as it follows the guide lines in the OP, and does not break TAC. Then you are good to go.
As the OP did not directly say no on your question.

There is also no word count limit, or requirement.
I feel if these submissions where to be created after the OP was posted, it would have been a stipulation.
I presume as much. Correct me if I am wrong, anyone.


As my submission was written after an event in my life. But it was not until today, that it found a great place to be put, and shared with the world.

I'm enjoying reading all the submissions, too. I accidentally submitted this poem twice, once without the CTPWC in the title, so I am hoping I can figure out how to delete one of them!!!
