last night, I was at the casino playing blackjack with some really nice young black men. You know "those scary ones' who call each other the N word for giggles...

I had the greatest time! but I know many people unfortunately who would have steered clear of them in the parking lot just because they were young black men.. that is the shame of this society.. we are still very much racist and not just against color, anyone who is less fortunate who have to survive to live.

Yeah. Good thing the Indians at the Casino you were at weren't as despicably racist as so many whites are, huh? Talk about a group of people who REALLY have right to be pissed off and take a few scalps....

You know, even when somebody DOES make some crazy statements I find a largely disempowered, impoverished black man expressing his anger and frustration a HELL of a lot less worrisome than a spoiled brat who inherited his station in life with nothing standing in between him and a couple thousand nuclear weapons other than his magic underpants and a space alien on the planet Kolob.

Christ...give me a Black Panther or two ANYDAY.

We stole this land.. we spilled it's blood.. then we went and kidnapped more blood and put it to work.. both WHITE and black.( White slaves were most commonly referred to as indentured servants.) Honestly i think you just like to fight to fight... is this your thread? Are you lonely? there are nicer ways to go about a conversation. Yes the chinese were immigrants... were they paid fairly? no.. unless you call $28/month to go and hopefully not blow yourself up a good living. The railroad men would say just send out more coolies... because the chinese were hard workers who did a better job than the whites on the line. So yes your right they were paid workers who took over the job because the whites did not want those jobs.

Well...what's your definition of a "slave"?

On the Transcontinental Railroad, the Chinese workers were not allowed to become citizens, vote, own property, testify in court and were forced to live in certain parts of town/camp. Whites were $35.00 per month and the Chinese were paid 25 "dollars" per month in scrip which was ONLY redeemable at the Union Pacific Company Store...where they were obligated to purchase all of their "supplies" like food at clothing using only the monopoly money that Union Pacific gave them.

In the end...they worked in exchange for only substandard food and clothing...just like a slave. The only difference is that Union Pacific did not actually buy, sell, and trade a title of ownership to them like an African slave. Not that it mattered...75% were worked to death anyways and the resale value of the remaining one's wouldn't have been very monetarily significant anyways.

I'd call that a "slave", wouldn't you? Bear in mind before you answer that you can't hardly call that the "free market at work" and then later whine about paying income tax is "slavery" to the IRS or whatever.

Close...but not exactly. the chinese workers were paid in scrip redeemable only at the Union Pacific store. The net effect was that they worked only for the substandard food and clothing that they were permitted to buy. See my previous post for a few more details.
