I couldn't disagree more, but sure, like you said, just an opinion.

When you say wrong morals I assume you mean religious morals, ie. killing the infidels.

Surely the best morals are those of a secular humanist.

what i meant was, i dont know the moral boundaries of an athiest....would he put practical capital decisions over humanity concerns....im just saying i dont know HOW they base their decisions

if you dont have faith....how does an athiest mind/brain work when it doesnt have an answer?

Just from my very very limited amount of Hawwaian knowledge, it does resemble many things native to the islands...
This has prolly been stated....but just in case....I have not read all pages....

What I mean is that:

a) the issue isn't communicating (or not) "through emotions" and
b) we do NOT at all want the same thing

Finally, no group, be it believers or atheists share a unified monolithic sense of morality... you misunderstand what religion is if you think it makes people moral in a specific way (and atheists moral in another)...

The truth is even if you have someone who claims a religious affinity, you still don't know. All you really have is a presumption. That's it.

I see no reason why even atheists should not be given a presumption that they will act morally.

In the end, only actions demonstrate the substance of an individual. Labels of affiliation are meaningless, imo.

Again, their is no single "atheist".

If you look at pretty much everyone in the US military, they're all "believers" - same goes for the majority of bankers and politicians... now you may not believe they are "true believers," but guess what, no perfect believer exists.

If you want to know how "people" base their decisions, talk to lots of them - no unified "people" exists.

Take a look at any other countries elections, any other country. Not a single one will have this level and volume of stupidity and banality. I mean, jesus.....imaginary arabic words on the presidents ring....do you realise how dumb, ignorant, stupid and vacuous you guys come across with this crap? The rest of the world is laughing at you, at America...

Seriously, no other countries voters sink to the depths of stupidity as American voters do (not all, of course, i get that)

Its like children fighting in the playground....the mind boggles. You guys have shown your cards...and they are all jokers...

To be completely clear:

the VAST majority of this conspiracy crap (e.g. Arabringgate, Birthergate, Fakejobsnumbersgate, Schoolfoodgate, TurningAmericaMarxistgate, etc.) comes from the right, because they know, like Rick Santorum said, their supporters aren't smart.

So instead of appealing to their brains, they appeal to their irrational fear, and their inability to use google (whoops I almost forgot Googleisliberalpropagandagate).

The Left in America is FAR from perfect, but sure, they don't ENDLESSLY generate crap like this to fool people into voting out of fear... not that they don't use fear, but it's not fear about imaginary crap, but legitimate fear about, say, WHICH Romney would actually become President - the moderate centerist, of the crazy right-wing nut... a reasonable thing to worry about IMO.

You stole my quote. I am guessing that the ring was his Islamic father's. Plus, in reading the article, Obama probably has strong fond memories of his Islamic education. I can imagine that it is a good way to grow up, possibly more gentle with strong purpose and morals. This is unlike our public schools that give children no sense of purpose unless they are in the 'in' crowd. Doubtless, he is more likely to favor the Islamic people over the Jewish people. Doubtless he is a border line Christian. He is too socialistic for me but we voted for him.

Loam, maybe its prejudice but I remember the twentieth century where atheism was more the norm than is ever recognized. Stalin, who raised his fist to God while dying killed millions. Hitler, a backslid-den Catholic embraced the occult and killed millions, Mao Tse Tung embraced the state and killed millions. Pol pot and other Vietnam era atrocities, I don't believe we'll find any faith of God there.

If these people were Christians (or other faiths), there would be no Christianity for its terrible witness. Why is it that we always forget this and point to faith accusingly? If "there isn't one" than basically moral behavior doesn't matter and we really can't assume that it does. Unless we are gullible, that is.

.im sure if humans learnt to communicate through emotions...we would realise that we all want the same thing.

Humans communicating through the emotions of anger and envy are a major part of wars.

Take those two out and we might get somewhere.

Hitler was a Christian. What about the Christian and Islamic crusades. What about the inquisition.

Religion has killed far more people than atheism ever will.

Okay Stalin was an atheist. Does that mean all atheists are like Stalin? He also had a moustache, dies that mean all men with a moustache are like Stalin.

Religion doesn't give a believer a higher moral stance than an atheist. The difference is that a religious person can reason their atrocities on whichever god they choose to worship.

I personally am convinced there is no god and I have a strong moral code. I'd never kill anyone who didn't share my beliefs.

So is this still skunk works or official?

There's a crap load of a.m. news stations and internet news stations talking about this as if its officially proven or something.

So which is it? This has HUGE implications

A politician's morality should not depend on his religion but his truthfulness.

I would much rather have an Atheist president...

no you wouldnt

to me..athiest means = questionable morals and principles!

peace

As opposed to someone who believes in something that has never been substantiated and remains believed in but un-proven and ridiculed by science ie dinosaurs never existed but yet we know they did and we know approximate age of the earth which goes against the books..

I'll stay with my Atheist views thanks.

I'm pretty sure he IS a Muslim, the question while he remains in office is , which type of Muslim.

Normal, Moderate or Radical..

I'd plump for the rather worrying moderate based upon his pandering to radical groups.
