I wonder to what lengths he will go if he really feels he's going to lose. Are we going to see what Charles1952 alluded to (Chavez - tanks in the streets)?

Embarrassed by Obama? Hardly. Embarrassed by the fact that so many americans can be duped into believing the bald-faced lies of the republican echo chamber? Without a doubt!

There's a couple of old sayings that should be considered when thinking through what we saw at the first presidential debate. It is my belief that the Obama campaign just demonstrated a near perfect execution of the first of these, which is; "Give a man enough rope and he'll hang himself." After witnessing the debate, I now fully understand Ann Romney's concern for her husbands mental heath. Hell, the man is clearly schizophrenic.

The second of the old sayings applies more directly to those who actually believe that Romney's debate performance has "turned the tides," which is; "It ain't over till the fat lady sings." I think the OP has mistaken the voices of a bunch of fat-headed pundits for that of the "fat lady," when in actuality she hasn't even begun to warm up her voice yet. So if I were you, I wouldn't "count my chickens before they hatch."

In closing, let me be clear. While I have indeed been disappointed at times by decisions made by President Obama, I have never once been "embarrassed" by his actions.

I have to know in my heart that I have not walked in his shoes and I am not privy to the information afforded the POTUS when making these decisions. Therefore, I am hardly in a position to ridicule him for making a decision that I myself, may very well have made, had I been given the same information. I don't agree with the renewal of the patriot act or the institution of NDAA or the fact that GITMO is still open, etc..., but then I'm not privy to classified intelligence information either.

On the other hand, Romney is mentally unstable to say the least and he embarrasses me damn near every time he opens his mouth. He embarrasses me as an American. It's embarrassing to have the rest of the world witnessing an american political party repeatedly promoting idiot candidates like Sarah Palin or pathological liars like Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.

Which campaign are you watching?

The one that is leading in national polls, leading in electoral college votes, leading in almost all swing states, and that just broke a fundraising record last month?

Or is there another Obama campaign I don't know about?

I’m watching the campaign whose lead went from double digits to within the margin of error on polls despite obvious over sampling of democrats.

He's sinking fast......

IM watching the looks on peoples faces:

Faces like Gloria Borger
Faces like Brooke Baldwin
Faces like Axelrod
Faces like everyone who was at the DNC

There are some seriously sad and long faces,

Buh bye now.

The problem is Obama could even not show up for the next two debates and he will still win. So many bought into the "hope and change" that they are unwilling to realize they made a mistake or were fooled.

The same people who say Romney is some evil Mormon overlook Obama's 20 years connection with the radical Rev Wright, AND that his church has been Obama's largest charity contribution.

The same people who say Romney is some evil rich guy who cost 100s their jobs overlook Obama's connection with some really radical supporters in Chicago, and the true lack of experience he has.

Same people who say Romney is a warmonger overlook all that Obama has done...Not sure why they call him that..I guess it was all the warmongering he did in the Winter Olympics and as Governor.

This all and more speaks loud and truthfully that America doesn't care what Obama fails to do and he will get a second term all the same.

Dont bet on it. I bought in, as did my wife (she's a life long Dem voter). Neither of us are voting for him this time.

I've read the rest of this thread and have been contemplating this issue. I've come to a conclusion. A significant portion of the American people dislike being told the truth. I had been honestly confused as to how people could blast Bush and love Obama (Bush 3.0) as he was just continuing Bushism (the eradication of our rights), but I've figured this out now. Obama will always say one thing and then turn around and do the opposite. Heck, there is even footage of him blasting Bush policies and then turning around and promoting something worse- in the same speech!

Y'all like Obama's pretty lies. You can then blame his actions on 'confidential' information that only a president could be privy to- and because he said he didn't really want to do it so it must be true. Whatever gets you through the day, I reckon.

Add Code Pink to the list of disgusted libs that have seen the real, unpolished man in the Oval Office...

www.usnews.com...

...Code Pink member ...Alli McCracken, who said she was one of the 24 American women in the contingent, said via an E-mail that Obama is "worse than Bush in some respects; he uses drones significantly more than Bush ever did, allowing him to carry out covert wars all over the world with zero accountability to Congress or the American public."

Obama, according to McCracken, has shown "total disregard for international law" when authorizing these strikes. Asked if Obama had authorized "murder," McCracken said, "Yes, as far as we know - and we know very little, since the drone program in Pakistan is operated by the CIA, and therefore cloaked in secrecy."...

I have a number of previous Obama supporters. Some will vote for him no matter what. Some, more than a small number, are disaffected with Obama but refuse to support Romney.

My hope is that many will just "not vote". Perhaps enough of previous Dem. voters will "opt out" of voting to offset the mule-headed "Ron Paul only" morons.....

I'm so sick of people focusing on crap like this, instead of really worrying about the issues. The president is pretty well reigned in by congress, and that is where the vast majority of important decisions get made. I know a lot of liberals, and I would say this is just propaganda, because from what I hear, they are not sick of Obama.

Your liberal friends may not be sick of Obama, but Congress is, and that's what really matters after all, isn't it?

Congress wants a leader who will work with them, not talk smack about them at every campaign rally and embarrass them to a point where they try to distance themselves from him, which is what most of them have done.

Senators and comgressmen from his own party have been complaining privately since he took office that they never get to meet face to face with him. They are forced to deal with his "people".

But for the last year or so many of them have been public with this claim.

So if he won't even meet with Senators who agree with him most of the time, when will he find time for differing viewpoints?

The answer is obvious, and that's why he's leaving.

I know a lot of liberals, and I would say this is just propaganda, because from what I hear, they are not sick of Obama. But the morons claim that Obama is a liar, while planning on voting for Romney despite the fact that he is a notorious liar, with documentation and videos to prove it. He only lied 9 times during the debate, but that isn't important. What is important is to attack Obama right?

This is what will happen if Romney wins. Things will get worse, and all the republicans will blame Obama. But what happens when Obama tries to blame Bush for some of our problems now? The republicans aren't having that. Hypocrites. Obama has done more constructive things, or attempted to, than Bush ever did. So why in the world would we want republicans in office again, because they are just going to run the economy even further into the ground.

Trickle down economics is how the rich get super rich, and the middle class turns into an amalgamation of lower class. THAT is republican ideology. That, and outdated beliefs and ideas. It is no coincidence that the majority of racists, per polls/surveys conducted, have republican leanings. I have also seen it in my own family, and others who I have heard discuss politics. It is sickening.

Grow up. Get your facts straight. And then attempt to post something of this nature again please. I have a strange feeling that debating you would be much like the debate I watched last week where your hero fumbled around with broken promises and lies while staring down most of the night. This is a complete joke.

Bush was in office when the cards came tumbling down, when your in office you are supposed to protect your nation from that happening. Bush failed, he was too busy riding the artificially empowered economy which was essentially being driven by money that did not exist. Bush did not want to regulate the banks because if he wanted to he would have done it.

Breaking NEWS!

Bush isn’t running in 2012

Obama had 4 years to at least get the country going in the right direction and he’s done the opposite. That is the point here….

Breaking NEWS!

you are making things up!

The economy went from 10% unemployment to under 8%, manufacturing is experiencing a resurgence and
exports are up 35%

You should buy a clue.

When somebody's 99 weeks (enough time to garner an Associates Degree) of unemployment dry up, they are dropped out of the equation of 'unemployed people seeking work'.

They're treated like a self-employed individual who one day....decides to padlock his business and quit.

When you add all those people as 'unemployed, seeking work", the percentage of unemployed is over twelve percent (12%).

Obama is nothing more than an agitator....an anarchist who sincerely would celebrate if our system crashed and burned.

Why don't you know this? Are you purposely obtuse? Or, simply not informed?

Wow. The US was more ready for a Black President (planned) than a Women President. There is plenty to be worried about Hillary being President just like we should of worried when Clinton was President. The Economy was good yes, for a reason. But the War's were still going on under your Clinton loving ways.

Looks like the Republicans set the Demo's perfectly by having Obama inherent a screwed up Economy (he knew this) but preached the same "Change" speech being brought to the other Countries looking for someone to change something. But, what is actually changing?? Nothing!!!! Nothing is changing just like if Romney is elected.

What is Romney going to do that anyone else who preaches a "Saint HOOD OF CHAINGE".... NOTHEN!!!! Either way, just look for our first Female President in '16. This Election is like Obama vs Mcain Reagan vs Mondale...it doesn't really matter.

You'd have to show me what wars were happening between 1993 and 2000 where the United States was in command or even directly influencing things. Somalia was a hangover Clinton was fixing from Bush's screw up. We never should have been there and in terms of Clinton's term, it was a flash in the pan for time and events. A short and fairly isolated thing, even if it was the world to those men involved.

Kosovo was happening..and STILL IS for that matter. US troops are still stationed there, last I knew. U.S. troops under blue helmet command of the UN and greater NATO structure for the bombing of Serbia. I recall that clearly..and calling it a war is absurd. It was a shooting gallery led by NATO Command and the European powers. We supplied some hardware. MUCH like Libya more recently.

"Clinton Loving ways"? Clinton is a scumbag and a piece of crap. I simply said as a PRESIDENT...I have to admit, he was a good one. That's honest and something FEW around here seem capable of doing just recently. Giving an honest and unbiased evaluation. Clinton is a Dem...and a Liberal's Liberal. I hate liberal ideology so badly it vibrates...but that doesn't mean I can say he was a Bad President. Sorry..the numbers...they just flat out say otherwise.

Just as Obama's numbers flat out say he's been a loser and a failure. However popular or likable he's been. In some ways, he's been precisely opposite of Clinton in strengths and Weaknesses. Hence..why I said Hillary would beat the hell out of Obama for a President right now..and likely beat Romney with his Rhino ways. (Gov of Ted Kennedy's state..let's never forget that one).

So.. Oops.. You kinda missed on all bases in pigeon holing where I fit on things. Then again, many do.

................ One other thing. Clinton ALSO inherited a screw up and nightmare of an Economy. He walked into unemployment of 6.9% on Inauguration day. He DID NOT spend 4 years crying about George H Bush and how it was all his fault and lets have a pity party. Clinton was Presidential about it and he went about fixing it...unlike the Whiner-In-Chief we have now.

Obama has the liberals secure, the media (the myth of the liberal media just got exposed, to those with eyes anyway) is a different matter... they're paid by corporate owners to report the news with a certain tone. Very few break with that. Anyway, my point is that Obama has the liberal vote locked down tight... it is the Left that he has lost, though he never fully had the Left to begin with.

Don't mistake the idea that "Obama does not measure up the standards of Liberals" as an idea that Romney has a chance of winning the election.

It's like saying we have a choice between two pigs, and one is prettier. Just because we aren't interested in the pretty one, does not mean the ugly pig has a chance.

No offense man, but what exactly is the point of this thread? You're a little late... the debate was last Wednesday - almost a week ago already.. there's been several speeches by both of them since then and Obama's done 100% better than he did on Wednesday. Is no one allowed to have a bad day anymore?
Get over it already people.
Besides, no matter who wins - we're screwed. The country is 16 TRILLION dollars in debt. Even if we stick to our current plans, it will take over 40 YEARS to get out of debt - use your heads.

1) What do you think he can legitimately do to salvage this campaign?

2) What do you think he’ll actually do to salvage his campaign.

yeah, i don't get it either....so they would rather vote for a multi-millionaire from a wealthy family, who is the owner of an financial investment company, with off-shore tax-haven accounts, that has been an insider of wall street for most of his life, has closed down american companies for his own personal profit, has invested in companies that sent american jobs offshore......he's the one that is going to save the middle class and poor......right!....sure!...i believe that!

Hate the man for being successful? Really? He closed down companies that were going to close down anyway. He saved a lot of companies, too - ones that would have closed down anyway.

Obama's done zero for either the middle class or the poor, unless you think you help someone by giving them unlimited months of benefits intended to be used only for shorter periods of time. It's like giving a stray animal food every night. Take it away and the animal is like "I have to fend for myself now?"

I'm not trying to change your mind, but it completely baffles me that there is this hatred from Romney for being a successful businessman, for being in a long-term stable relationship (a poster on another topic regarding evil people suggested Romney couldn't possibly related to people because he didn't come from a broken home and wasn't ever poor - not sure of that's code for Romney's not black, but).

I think Obama's record speaks for itself. Bad policies domestically, and very inconsistent foreign policy. As Mitt rightly says, "Hope is not a strategy".

The only reason liberals are angry with Obama is he didn't effectively reveal how big a scumbag Romney is.
He convinced the moron low information voters but anyone who has a clue, knows Romney's a pathological liar. Check politifact , check any unbiased source or check the data yourself and you'll see who actually won the debate.

Republicans trashed the economy and now that Obama isn't fixing it fast enough let's let the a554o1es who trashed it back in? As a dog returns to its vomit we go. Idiots need to wake up and get off the Fox News crack.

One debate. Liberals are embarrassed by Obama's performance and the tides have turned??? HAHAHAHAHAH On WHAT planet do you live???? You DO realize that those polls taken not a couple days after the debate (PPP) but those taken this weekend show Obama settling back to where he was just before the debate? You DO realize that Obama had a MONSTER polling day Sunday to bring Romney's numbers back to Earth and where they were? You DO realize that there has been NO change among Obama support with women, minorities etc and that ALL of Romney's gains are GOP enthusiasm?

But, hey . . . whatever helps you sleep at night. yeah. Liberals are so embarrassed that they will stay home and/or vote for Romney. No. Liberals are not cowards like TeaBags. We will vote in legions. It won't even be close. Obama in landslide.
