I'm very excited to announce that my former representative to the US house, Virgil Goode, a man I know to be of good moral character is running for President on the Constitution Party ticket.
My parents' neighbor was his secretary and he would drive his old beat up Honda civic over 100 miles a day to his office. I also knew him through our local NRA chapter and through various conservation programs that he endorsed to expand wildlands in Virginia. He represented my district in Virginia for 12 years and while there voted against Congressional pay raises and refused freebies

He has a rather hick accent but please don't let that throw you off, listen to the man for this ideas and ideals. I really believe him to be a fit candidate for the highest office in the land and a man of his word.
I don't agree with him on everything (I'm pro-choice, he's pro-life) but I have yet to find a candidate who holds all the same views as I do.
Here's a quick rundown on his stand on the issues:
Abortion - pro-life
Balanced budget now - yes
Eliminate foreign aid - yes
Audit the Federal Reserve - yes
Moratorium on 1.2 million greed cards - yes
Automatic citizenship for children born of illegals in the U.S. - No
Support for CAFTA/NAFTA - No

Here's his website - www.goodeforpresident2012.com...

Glad to see it. I'll check him out. Glad to see more choices other that Obamney and Robama.

This is good in the aspect of another option, but bad because it may fracture the third party vote and reduce the potential for impact from either Johnson or the new candidate, who's name I've forgotten since I pressed reply.

Going to read some threads on improving memory now.

Would have been better if a candidate ran with dual support from libertarian and constitutional and got a spot on TV debates. Maybe 2016.

Virgil Goode! Man, how that should be unforgettable.

We still build cars in America. Why is he driving a HONDA? Buy AMERICAN whenever possible!!

Be patriotic and support the AMERICAN working man!

Remember when Pat Buchanan as presidential candidate always trumpeted "America First" but drove a Mercedes.

Bad Form...

Sounds like a good candidate.

I am still for Gary Johnson, but ANY man, with integrity, and morals, should get a good looking into. I will actually do some homework on the guy.

I've never heard of him. Where would you rank him on this political spectrum? Is he a Jefferson/Madison conservative?

Really? More of my Tacoma is made in America than a Dodge Ram or Chevy Silverado. The Honda Ridgeline tied the Ford F150 for the #1 spot(Truck-wise.)

For those of you interested, here's a recent thread introducing the Constitution Party. Just be careful what you wish for.

You just lost me in promoting him as a man of good moral character.

That usually means religious.

Sounds like a GREAT party! What are you scared of? Do you not like the founding principles?

We affirm the principles of inherent individual rights upon which these United States of America were founded:

• That each individual is endowed by his Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are the rights to life, liberty, property and the pursuit of happiness;

• That the freedom to own, use, exchange, control, protect, and freely dispose of property is a natural, necessary and inseparable extension of the individual's unalienable rights;

• That the legitimate function of government is to secure these rights through the preservation of domestic tranquility, the maintenance of a strong national defense, and the promotion of equal justice for all;

• That history makes clear that left unchecked, it is the nature of government to usurp the liberty of its citizens and eventually become a major violator of the people's rights; and

• That, therefore, it is essential to bind government with the chains of the Constitution and carefully divide and jealously limit government powers to those assigned by the consent of the governed.

Or was it the mention of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? Have no fear…

The Constitution of these United States provides that "no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States." The Constitution Party supports the original intent of this language. Therefore, the Constitution Party calls on all those who love liberty and value their inherent rights to join with us in the pursuit of these goals and in the restoration of these founding principles.

Religious = bad?
Depends on your point of view. There are many Christians who can keep church and state separate, Goode is one of them who can. He is a devout Christian but he doesn't wish for Armageddon and wants to stop foreign aid to Israel, is that all bad?
In his personal life his beliefs are paramount, in political life he wants to do whats best for the Nation. That is my understanding of the man.

Probably most can not.

But - I did not say Christian.

IMO

Saw him on Stossel the other night. Although he has some good ideas, I feel he's too extreme on immigration, he's for tougher drug laws and is opposed to gay marriage. Sorry, not my ideal candidate.

That is like saying probably most women cannot keep their legs closed, or probably most black men cannot stop themselves from committing crime.

What a bigoted way to view the world.

I'll be sticking with Gary Johnson. To me, it is the only answer. People getting all into each others private business has no place in the land of freedom.

I am for freedom first....everything else will work itself out if we actually have freedom. Which we don't by the way....it is an illusion.

True freedom opens the doors to opportunity....anytime someone thinks their personal philosophy can dictate my life....fails. I am quite capable of knowing right from wrong...but it is not my place to tell you how to live behind closed doors.

Gary Johnson is the answer....thanks for bringing an alternative but they seem to fall into the ranks of radical....I don't like radical...I like free.

We have folks that want to regulate everything....and that shiz never works. Just be free.....and the rest will work itself out. In this I completely believe....

Johnson here as well. Although the Constitution Party has alot of good aspects, they have a very strong religious vein running through it and that, IMHO, is a deal-killer.

'We The People are PISSED!'

Why does this man get his panties in a wad about a muslim rep using a Qur'an to be sworn in, and why does he care if more muslims are elected as reps, or if they would want to do the same and use the Qur'an?

I've voted for the Constitution party since Clinton was in office. Voted for Buchannon twice even.

I bought into the hype last election and voted McCain to my everlasting shame because I thought Obama would be too horrible. See how much my piddly vote made a difference then huh?

This year, I have decided not to validate the corrupt electoral system of the US and have resolved to write in Cthulhu for president. Sure, its throwing away my vote but, I'm throwing it away on MY terms.

Voting for either of the establishment candidates is a thrown away vote IMHO anyway. The election has already been decided by the elites and we only get the illusion of participation.

Vote Cthulu and don't settle for the LESSER evil!

I think the problem in many states is that some/many parties are not even listed on the ballots. They fail to qualify. I was looking at the major polls and you only see democrats and republicans all the time, with 5%-8% percent supposedly going to small parties and independants.

I am no expert when it comes to the campaign election process but I do remember reading about the republicans suing the libertarians to cause problems. It seems not enough people care enough to make a stink about it!

Democrats and republicans. Vanilla or chocolate. black or white. night or day. up or down.. yada, yada.

I feel bored participating in rigged politics!

Constitution Party

I think the constitution and libertarian parties are right wing orientated parties. Basically milder forms of the republican party. The libertarians are financially conservative and socially liberals. The constitution party is basically strict constitution following and we all know the constitution in its present day format leaves a lot to be desired.

I feel pissed that left wing parties such as the green, socialist and communist parties get almost ZERO mention. What could be better than the workers owning the means of production? We complain about big business all the time, masonry and the huge military industrial complex declaring war at will and destroying our budget, YET we are hypocrites(not me) in voting right wing.

The hell with america. I think people get close to what they deserve. The media(owned by people like ted turner who wrote the georgia guidestones) don't help inform america. They do the exact opposite; MISINFORM!
