So then I'd have to ask, would you rather pay the tax/fine or would you rather get something for your money and have health insurance?

I'd rather my government follow the Constitution and not demand I enter into a contract with anyone, under threat of violence. But, call me old fashioned.

If you're irresponsible, that's not my fault but it is my problem. You make my insurance rates go up because of your negligience and willful ignorance.

It is no fault of mine that you choose to enter into a contract with an insurance company, or anyone else for that matter. You feel I should be forced to buy insurance, but why shouldn't you be forced to pay for my healthcare? Either way, it is robbery, by definition: Taking something from someone, under threat of violence.

So I'm being forced to pay for your health care because of...violence? What? You're not making any sense, there's not violence anywhere in this equation.

The bottom line is, you want to be irresponsible and have the rest of society pay for your mistakes.

That is the typical socialist response. Because I do not want the government involved in healthcare, you jump to the conclusion that I do not want health care for anyone.

I do purchase health insurance. However, I believe it is not Constitutional for the government to force me to do so. We have the freedom to enter into contracts with whomever we chose... Or, we did.

There is no more constitution and I don't believe in it anymore. I could care less about that worthless piece of paper anymore. I am going to be the nastiest slimiest person anyone has ever come in contact with now. I am joining the ranks of all the other scum of this planet. You wanna know why? Because that's what everyone else is now.

Guys things evolve. To think that society will/would always fall into the confines of the constitution forever is/was shortsighted. That is why we have amendments.

The fact of the matter is simple,

The government ALREADY makes sure we go to school to become educated or we are punished. What is the difference with healthcare?

Too many people are being punished for having healthcare by those who don't have it and abuse the system.

Get Healthcare for your own good. The penalty is nearly the amount of coverage. SO GET SOMETHING FOR YOUR MONEY.

Those who harp that it's unconstitutional, they are just mad at change.

2). Insurance Companies can no longer deny claims because of pre-existing conditions.

So Now they can say "sorry you have cancer and we won't cover you", but when this bill takes affect they can say "oh you have cancer? No problem, that will be $8,954 a month you, or 45,876 for you're family of 5.

Just because they can't say no does not mean they can't charge you anything they want, or am I wrong?
Is there a cap?
Will it be a set rate for people of the same age?

Yeah I didn't think so.

Oh, and if I wish to get rid of my private healthcare and pay the "tax", do I still get to go to a doctor or hospital for free, or would i still have to pay out of pocket for everything?

So poor people who can't afford healthcare now will be exempt from the tax? And how would that be any different then now?

Damn I'm happy you told me this. I was about to start a new thing called "home schooling", but I don't want people to be punished by the government because they got a real education.

Yeah, the government does a lot of things that are wrong, but I choose to not just throw up my hands and accept it, without a fight. Some day, on some issue, you too will decide to draw a line in the sand, with government intrusion.

Wow...the answer is staring you in the face and you cannot see it....where do we rank academically because of government mandated education??? You need to make the connection between govt, and failure.

Con ...

From this day forward, any American citizen from the age of 3 years old until the day they die will owe private insurance companies money for the privilege of being alive. The insurance companies will tell you how much you can afford.
