Sheriff Joe Arpaio Kicks Lawless Obama's Ass on FOX 06 25 2012

In 2008 Judge Neil V. Wake made the ruling that Maricopa Counties jails were kept in unconstitutional conditions. He specifically focused on the conditions pretrial inmates were kept. I can't emphasize enough that these were pretrial inmates. In other words they were innocent in the eyes of the law. Among other violations that the MCSO was guilty of were packing inmates in like sardines in hot, poorly ventilated, cells, serving rancid and rotting food, and denying inmates medical attention and prescribed medication. The MCSO were then given two years to fix things before conditions would be once again investigated. In 2010 it was once again ruled that the conditions in MCSO run jails were unconstitutional. I'm not sure where things stand on this matter now.

The reason why Arpaio has not been ousted is because he is an elected official and the most flagrant violations he has been guilty of can be pinned on the MCSO as a whole. The only charges you can really pin on Arpaio himself are the charges of abuse of power but that really only gets him a slap on the wrist. I can guarantee however that if Arpaio were the manager of a company his actions would have gotten him fired long ago. Under his leadership the MCSO has cost the taxpayers of Maricopa County millions. They have had to pay $50 million in lawsuits alone, then there's also the money they've also had to pay in fines. I don't want to even know how much federal funding they've lost over the years due to Arpaio's actions. Then there's just the bad reputation the MCSO has picked up under Arpaio. He is a horrible sheriff and if he were in any other profession he would have been fired long ago.

Since when does the US run on mob rule? The Supreme Court isn't there to determine what is popular. It's there to determine what is Constitutional.

You don't have to answer that, we pretty much know your response.

I'd say the pricks are the ones that attempted to pass an UNCONSTITUTIONAL law..and the ones that continue to support it despite it being struck down by the SCOTUS.

Well said! That has been my beef with this mook for years - that he treats people that have not been convicted of anything the same way he treats those that have been.

Which means he believes anybody he or his boyz n girlz arrest is guilty. Which means he thinks he is all the Authority that is needed. He is a dangerous blight on this country.

But he goes after the coloreds and poor people, who "might" be here illegally, so he's the darling of the right wing hate crowd. But he is an embarrassment to any decent human.

So basically, Sheriff Arpaio could literally sexually molest ten year old boys and girls in front of millions of people on national TV and the birthers would turn a blind eye to his crimes because he's going after obama and trying (and failing) to drum up "evidence" that Obamney is born in Kenya.

Gee, this hero worship. Arpaio derangement syndrome.

As bad as the obama bots.



I guess the ends really do justify the means. Scratch that, it doesn't matter what means any characte does as long as they get Obama out.

It all sounds good in theory but they will and do arrest people who can not provide information on themselves , that is the real world not the paper one .

They get away with it because the average person in america today cant be bothered to research for themselves, and instead takes law enforcements' word on what is legal and illegal.

I hate taking sides here as you are clearly passionate in your feelings towards him but...
I would imagine the conditions, food, housing, etc. are because Arpaio does not release prisoners as they come in and fill his jail up. He erects tents for the overflow and makes room. I like that about him.

The funds to the jail(s) remain the same while his occupancy increases.
The funding ratio to population for NOT releasing criminals based on threat level such as most cities do, effectively turning the jail into a revolving door, is not the way Arpaio likes doing "business." Despite the quality of 'service', he keeps them in jail. GO JOE!

As far as Pretrial inmates having to endure this while they are being held. That is almost as unfortunate to a death sentence for an innocent person. Nothing is perfect.. Except God. Until the Catholic church changed that. *laugh*

I spent 123 days in a youth center for receiving stolen property. Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Years, and my 18th birth day. A time I will never forget. I am in my mid 40's now and have never broken the law since then. Oops, wait. I had a DUI 10 some odd years ago and got a few hours in holding but, point being.. it straightened my ass out. I will never break the law therefore, I will not be subject to 'Lord forbid' an Arpaio Jail.

That would be my advice for any about to break the law. Do not do it! Simple as that.

After your post, I still fail to see what he has done so wrong? If he had more money, I am sure the food would not be rotten. What gives?

And frankly, the idea that, since occupancy is up but funding is not that unconstitutional treatment, not only of prisoners, but of those that are PRE-TRIAL, should be accepted is ludicrous.

PRE-TRIAL. It means they have not been convicted. Which means THEY ARE INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY. Which is where Joe steps across the line the most. ONE DOES NOT HAVE TO PROVE THEIR INNOCENCE IN THIS COUNTRY. It is up to the accuser to prove guilt.

Joe REALLY doesnt like that. Hed rather be judge, jury, and executioner in every single case, innocent or not.
