I did not knew that for someone to enter Iraq he must have an invitation from you.

Are you the new Iraqi president?

Regardless American bombed a british convoy in Afganistan, even though the convoy had a British flag.

They bombed A canadian convoy if I remember rightly. U.S have quite a high friendly fire rate by the sounds of it.

Well done!

Maybe that is the reason for the US having so many enemies.

Its because its dangerous to be their friend.

Wrong, the tide was already turned with the Red Army joining in so German would have lost anyway without the help of US. BUT this is NOT the subject of this thread so please, everytime somebody mentions France or French people, DO NOT use WW2 as excuse to bash that person and the subject of his thread.

[edit on 2-10-2004 by Samiralfey]

The tide turned in the Russian front when Germany had to split up it forces out of fear of a second american front, Germany was preparing for such a attack long before America attacked. If Germany could have used all its forces on Russia it would not have been a sure victory for Russia at all.

The truth is Russia didnt really liberate anyone in WW2 they fought back a German invasion and took the fight to the Germans. Russia would have kept on rolling right through Germany and into the rest of Europe. France under Russia's rule might have been worst then German rule.

Silverthorn I understand your feelings on the war and of course the immediate situation of your comrades in Iraq. It's a terrible situation everyone is in.

I am an American and embarrased on the Bush administrations policies. I am however not embarrassed of the troops over there away from their families fighting a war they did not ask for. They were sent there by greedy politicians with their own agendas, having nothing to do with making America safer or the world for that matter.

You must understand Iraq is a combat zone. The troops over there have a duty to protect their own lives and the lives of their men. In war people die - mostly civilians, but you won't hear that on CNN or any network for that matter. Instead you hear phrases such as, 'insurgents, strongholds, operation,' and so forth. Who is getting wasted? - civilians, anyone that thinks differently has no idea what war is about they are just flapping at the jaws about # they don't understand.

The french journalists are no doubt pissed about getting shot at but they knew what they were in for. Any combat zone, I don't care where your at, if your on the road with people who look like the enemy or if your in an area where you are not supposed to be you are going to either die or get shot at - that simple.

In chechnya the russians didn't have mercy on anyone, especially journalists (they were targeted) so really there is no bitch here it's combat plain and simple, men, women, children die that is the unfortunate atrocity of war.

The french journalists knew what they were in for when they went to Iraq to cover the war, that they could possibly die under friendly fire or enemy fire. They are pissed about it but they know the Americans WERE NOT targeting them because they were french. They just blew off a little steam for having a botched mission - understandable. Don't think they hate Americans because they don't. American soldiers are there because the government sent them there and the world knows that.

If asked if the troops could go home, you bet their arse they would, but we can't just leave the Iraqi's hanging out in the breeze after destroying their country and toppling their government. We have an obligation to not only secure Iraq but to rebuild their economy and that is going to take years.

Worst case scenario we have to deal with the Bush administration for four more years. Thats the great thing about America we only have to deal with an administration for 8 years and then we have a ne president and a new administration with new policies. So hang in there Silverthorn don't hate Americans we have to work together for a bright future. I certainly do not want to see young 18 year old kids drafted and be car bomb fodder for the next ten years.

Some people might get offended by the lack of compassion for life in this comment. They might even get angery and post an aggresive response.
then the whole thread might get messy....maybe?

Can you not see Interearthlings comment basically translates to a French men as 'they are french it doesn't matter if they die'??

The Frogs are the most corrupt, self serving, (and as all records of deodorant sales in Europe testify), smelly people in Europe.

Their politicians are corrupt - can you believe their last President had an illegitimate child and the press never reported it even though they knew?

Their current President is as corrupt as an African dictator.

There are two reasons why France opposed the removal of Sadaam

1. They are cowards - the history of France in the 20th Century is one of cowardness and weakness

2. They are corrupt - France was regularly breaking sanctions against Iraq - making a lot of money selling him weapons.

It is such a delicious irnony that these cowards, who present themselves as opponents of the war, then get two of their menfolk kidnapped. Why? Because the Muslims are crazy and hate all Westerners and want to kill them all - making French opposition to the removal of Saddam completely wrong.

France - old Europe, corrupt, diseased, irrelevant.

Jesus Christ. I knew that you can't take the ATS [edited comment] as example for the average american citizen but this thread gives a good impression why bored people invented terrorism against the USA.

Come on folks, re-read what you all wrote. This isn't funny and most important: on the level of humanity the opinions here would even frigthen Adolf Hitler.

EDITED: to remove never appropriate comment.

DENY IGNORANCE, MODERATE WITH BIAS......!

Moderating the thread and opinion of the thread should be kept seperate imo. If you learn how to do it successfully please pass your information onto Fox News. They need a hand seperating opinion from news reporting.

.

and Im American and have for a very long time have understood why nearly as many if not more French fought for the Nazis than the allies. So to pretend that it is something new is rather disingenuous. Anyhow even if you give this report credence as it is from al jizz-era and their number one correspondent fanoose; what kind of an idiot enters a combat zone gains a combatant escort and is surprised when the other side lobs something in their direction?

Wow, as you probably know how to read it sure is a shame you are as misinformed as you are. You might investigate the dummies line of books and see if they have a WW2 for dummies book it will probably ease you into it.

No, probably once they integrated with the French theyd have been accidentally defeated by a Boy Scout troop on a weekend retreat.

Gallic Wars
- Lost. In a war whose ending foreshadows the next 2000 years of French history, France is conquered by of all things, an Italian.
- American Revolution
- In a move that will become quite familiar to future Americans, France claims a win even though the English colonists saw far more action. This is later known as "de Gaulle Syndrome", and leads to the Second Rule of French Warfare; "France only wins when America does most of the fighting."

Truncated for brevity. FredT, that was great!

Oh yeah, don't forget all the Tour de France's!

Uh, does anyone see a problem with this?

Julia's assistant, Philippe Brett, had persuaded the kidnappers to release the Frenchmen and they all left in two separate convoys from their place of detention, both of which had come under US fire, the MP said. . . .

Can't see Anything 'mysterious' there. . Philippe Brett and the French journalists left in two separate convoys, they were escorted by iraqis and the MP. Both of the convoys came under attack, six iraqis were killed, the convoy that carried the french journalists returned back, the convoy carrying Brett kept going to the Syrian border, When he arrived he knew about the mission's failure (journalists were not there/freed) so he went back again to iraq (journalists' captors).
