If this isn't all boast and hype from a group of kiddies that are capable only of brief DoS attacks then I pray they don't lose sight of who they claim to be, for now they mostly have my support. The criminals in control of the world need to be brought to justice. The problem is they have bought justice so it isn't through our current systems that we the people will see justice, but apparently there is another way.

ALL serious criminals need to be brought to justice, and are we so sure that anon doesn't have their fair share?

For a group that talks a lot about exposing truth, they sure go to great lengths to hide what they do online.

I know someone quite well affiliated with this group. He ridiculed for for years when I said 911 was an inside job, and every other conspiracy theory I questioned, and looked into. He has only been affiliated with anon for a short time, but he gets off on the power, and thinking hes a hero.

When I told him I had little respect for anon, he told me I should be careful what I say, because they don't take kindly to being disparaged, and would retaliate. Sounds like real freedom lovers to me..

Their motto "respect us or expect us" shows exactly what kind of power they like to lord over others. Reminds me too much of Animal Farm.

They are trying to look like heroes, and I'm sure there are a few, and I mean a small number who actually are really decent. Most are hung up on power and ego, and can be petty ,mean, and vengeful. If they could ever manage to knock out the 1% , I fear they would be far worse to deal with.

I abhor people who try and control by fear , and that is their number one ammo.

They aren't all sitting in their mommas basements, and they are not all kids. Some are long time hackers, for decades , but they are not the heroes they like to portray themselves as.

They love wielding the power they have over others (the majority), and it feeds their egos.

Anon arent what they say they are.

When we`ve got all this hype about the internet basically becoming life its self , and we`re talking about a "hacking group" that has access to everything online .... who make weird videos and wear masks , whilst "challanging" the likes of th FBI , The CIA comes to mind first.

Its kind of like wikileaks ...... if you have access to what you claim to have access to , and also claim to be helping people , why wouldn`t you just come out with it ?

I think they would hit us with the things like SOPA anyway. They really don't need an excuse and they want the control.

On the other side of that, the more control they will put, the more people will join the collective resistance. I don't think it will be possible to stop the internet and spread of information. Look how quickly pirate technology such as decrypting DVDs, program hacks, etc. evolves.

It's so easy to work under the banner of Anonymous - I'm sure some pimply faced kids do things under the guise but I believe there are others that are quite capable IT professionals. I do believe that some of their targets are a bit misguided.

You know how we got access? We didn’t hack them. The access was given to us by the people who run the systems. The five-star general (and) the Secretary of Defence who sit in the cushy plush offices at the top of the Pentagon don’t run anything anymore. It’s the pimply-faced kid in the basement who controls the whole game, and Bradley Manning proved that. The fact he had the 250,000 cables that were released effectively cut the power of the U.S. State Department in half. The Afghan war diaries and the Iran war diaries effectively cut the political clout of the U.S. Department of Defence in half. All because of one guy who had enough balls to slip a CD in an envelope and mail it to somebody.

If everyone worked on common sense, everyone would have a meltdown just reading that comment and trying to comprehend it.

It doesn't seem legit to me. The top system administrators just randomly give access to someone external?

Wether Anon is good or bad, goverment or not I sincerely do not care.
Unlike many, I am not afraid of martial law or the "internet killswitch" or any law against internet, to the contrary I would welcome any of those things with a smile on my face.

Why?

Because martial law or taking away the internet would finally wake the people the hell up.
As long as people are comfy with their T.V's, internet, video games, etc, they will never see or stand up
against the horrible things the goverment is doing. If something drastic doesn't happen people won't know what's going on until it's too late.

Take away the games and bread and the people will see the emperor for who he really is.

There is nothing that Anonymous enjoy more, I tend to believe, than the public viewing them as being more important or significant than they really are.

I'm not saying that the entire collective is composed exclusively of attention whores, no; but the whole idea of "dark, shadowy, omniscient hackers," is one that they themselves enjoy a lot more than they at times make out. It's not all media misrepresentation of them, at all.

Anon have their role to play at times, like anyone else. Overestimating their importance, however, is as ill-advised as doing the same in the case of anyone else.

Well said, petrus.

Anon has a role to play but people who overestimate their importance are being a bit dramatic. It's a group of hackers...not MLK or JFK! Get a grip, people. Stop idolizing a group of cyber snipers as if they were our saviors.

Erm. I'm not saying I normally agree with neo96's opinions, at all; but you are aware that he's a veteran, I assume?

Its wrong calling Anonymous as "organisation" since it has no leaders and people are connected very loosely and they have different goals. Some just want to be trolls and some fight for human rights, environment or to end elite power. And anyone can be Anonymous.

We are Anonymous!

I support these guys 100%. Sh#t, i'm one of them!
Everybody is Anon and nobody is Anon

Once you accept their ideals, it's plain and simple: If you don't like one of our operations, you don't support it!
We have operations that focus on helping animals, stopping child pornography, even the Occupy Movement!

I know not everybody on this site likes Anonymous, but im sure that alot of people like Anonymous because the get the secrets out. Abovetopsecret is a website dedicated the exactly that! To try and expose the secrets or to share your take on the unknown.

i'll stop rambling now

May the Force be with us all.

Having witnessed their actions in the past, I know what they are capable of and what they are not. Anon is a group that is in it for the long haul, and no amount of bills will stop them. Especially the old anons. And to say a bit more,

even if they cut the wire to the entire internet, anon have developed ways to counter that scenario, and the idea spawned a few years ago.

Search "anonymous meshnet"

Whether or not this is already operational remains to be seen, but if you ever seen the movie "Pump up the volume" starring Christian slater. It would be similar to that pirate radio show. only a network of computers linked to eachother.

Several years ago I had a vision, after seeing the results of Project Chanology. Anonymous is the perfect force to spark up a global revolution. Why Global? because "members" are literally from every part of the world. It has no leaders, and that is why they are powerful. What they represent can never truly be defeated. They may arrest 50, 100, or even a thousand. But from each one that actually goes down, more and more will spawn out from their hive, and the thought of that alone is scary, because we aren't talking about a few thousand.

We are talking about possibly a force of over 1 million and counting, and the grand majority are computer savy. Anonymous have accomplished what politicians have failed to do.

Unity of the world and getting them to work together against a common foe for a common goal. The foe being the machine and the goal being liberation. Aye, I am aware of both sides of anonymous. Anyone can be anonymous, and it's name cannot really be corrupted, because it has no identity.

Anonymous as a whole can very well represent both faces of God. (If you think about it metaphoricly)

Here's a hint: "The collective conscious"

I am indifferent about Anonymous. Don't know what to make of them or what their intentions are? However, I am against hacking whether it is proprietary or governmental. To me, it is no different than breaking into someone's house and stealing stuff. It has always been the job of the MSM to uncover corruption, lies, and deceit among companies in the private sector or the government. That used to be their marching orders. As of late, they seem to be more interested in useless tripe like Octomom or the latest celebrity rehab stay. That has got to change! The guy hiding out in Canada has actually lauded breaking into DOD computers. That is aiding and abetting the enemies of the United States, and making it more dangerous for our forces in current wars and future ones.

Furthermore, we have governments dangling the sword of Damocles over our heads in terms of restricting access and expression on the internet as a response to these breaches. They are feeding the beast! Giving the politicians more reasons to take away liberties. You know how the saying goes, "All it takes is a few to ruin it for everyone." Lets try to look at the big picture as objectively as possible. Some of the proprietary sites like Sony contained peoples' personal banking information and such. I wonder how many of the users had their information compromised as result of Anon kicking in the door? Lets view Anonymous with a grain of salt, because in the long run they could being doing more harm than good? The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Something to think about.

I personally do not like anonymous. Why you say? Because they are messing with the most powerful weapon and good thing we have: the internet. The more they mess with it, the more they can try to regulate it. Information is the most powerful weapon. For instance I honestly think that they would have invaded Syria if it were not for the negative reaction of everyone online and all the comments. A lot of things are being spread online. It is a powerful tool to transmit ideas and they should not mess with it.
