Taking shots from the outside just a few feet over the blueline on-the-fly is a strength of Jesses and of Connors....both can close on rebounds with above average speed for different reasons....Connors body gets there first and Jesses stick gets there first....soooo....as we saw with that post to end the Period Jesse can unleash it hard from the outside and as we see with Connors whippy hard wrister he can also boom it on-the-fly then follow up....its another way to split the defense really early and catch the them napping.

Leon....give Kahun possesion earlier and be the Pivot of the give-and-go so he can finish...using a quick-release shot like a tap-in or a deflection or a snapshot....if you hold possesion to long in the O-zone you force him to become the Pivot.....mix it up more....and when he hits you its up to you to shoot or become te Pivot man....you have been using him wrong OK ?....understand ?.....you have to make the Pivot man decison to shoot or pass because his first pass to you will usually be hitting you in a prime shooting area....however if you can slip it back he will always be backdoor open net.

The Oppositions 1st line CANNOT OVERCOME THE PRESSURE... the stifeling 200 foot Fore-checking pressure....the 3 zone pressure and ability to transition from defense to offense on a dime makes this a POSSESION PLUS LINE.....this allows a Team to do what Gretzky could do...create DEFENSE FROM THE FIRST LINES PUCK POSSESION /PRESSURE DOMINANCE.....it by Proxy shuts down the Opponents biggest weapons....when the Oilers first line plays exactly like they are playing...however---whatever it took to get them to this point---it doesnt matter because right now they are doing something extremely rare and special....just keep them doing what they are doing... they are smothering Opponents with their constant excellent high speed puck hunting forechecking/backchecking and its resulting in dominant puck possesion time and its snuffing out any spark Opponents hope to get from their Big Guns in a wicked wicked way.....this allows the rest of the Oilers Team to grind down Opponents on the Scoreboard without massive pressure on them....it also keeps game scores down.....most importantly the 1st line is NOT PLAYING DEFENSIVE STYLE HOCKEY --- its extremely aggressive puck pursuit hockey based on speed and determination and with Connor now hitting more and Jesse asserting himself this line is scary good.....and its not about the Goals they score or dont score....its about how bloody hard it is for Opponents to simply gain and hold Possesion long enough to set anything up....when you have Connor McDavid comitted to the Fore/Backchecking and Hitting like he is and you have Jesse also playing that same style and you have Nugey who is the best 2-way Oiler on one line....man how do you ever get touches if you are the opponent...those 3 all pursue pucks like Dogs chasing Bones man...and all 3 are extremely skilled and smart....that line has been making plays out of every single Possesion and has been recovering more pucks and creating 2ndary Opportunities by everyone being smart enogh and skilled enough to transition IMMEDIATLY to OFFENSE the millisecond they gain Re-Possesion like nothing we have seen in DECADES..... when it comes to utter Domination of broken Playactions this Oilers 1st Line is the best Moma2 has ever seen on NHL ice....and it has been together long enough for us all to see this....its a brand new look for the Oilers...for gods sakes its Tippet Hockey 101.... If Connor and his linemates just keep doing exactly what they are doing for Dave the Oilers will begin to put together long Win Streaks....If Opponents fail to Score from their 1st Line and expect to outscore Leon Draisaitles line they are nuts....once Yamamoto and Kahun begin getting confident and smart enough to understand they need to shoot to support Leon not look for him that line will begin to rip Opponents up every night...they are that good when they play right....when they defer to Leon they take away his ability to use his guile and evasiveness to get into optimal shooting positions...they telegraph his location to much and give Opponents to much time to locate him an track him....Leon is like Barracuda when he strikes...faster than a Shark...but hes at his best when he comes out of nowhere exactly like a Barracudda.....Leon doesnt need bumper Passes....just follow his lead...and finish off his passes without holding he puck to long....no more of that...Leon hits guys in the right spots for them to shoot consistantly better than anyone in the NHL right now.....and if his linemates take those shots ASAP Quick-release then pursue rebounds hard immediatly it MANAGES THE CLUSTER---remember that---- it allows Leon time and space to work the zone and to pop in and out of dangerous areas at the right times .... you respect Leons hard work by getting those initial shots off ASAP to give you the power to immediatly close on rebounds and manage the Cluster by collapsing it to the net....then you give Leon the tiny edges he needs to MAKE THEM PAY....and trust me he knows how to do that.

Possesion Plus means that Connor and his Linemates are holding their share of Possesion and then TAKING AWAY ABNORMALLY HIGH DOMINATING VOLUMES of their Opponents 1ST Lines expected Possesion time....this stifles them....it shuts them down....its creating Defense down the Team by using Offense in the right ways on the 1st line..... its because all 3 Players have elite level strengths and are all using them optimally the right ways together in support of each other....these are 3 SELFLESS PLAYERS who are extremely skilled....they have proven they can trust each other....and all 3 BRING THE SAME 110% EFFORT AND PASSION AND HARD WORK every single game....its the hardest working line in the NHL IMHO right now.

Definition of Maturity for a Team.....Connor and Leon are both held pointless but their Team wins the Game and goes above .500 for the first time all Season long.

Leon and Kahun have been silently providing a strength the Oilers have not enjoyed for a very long time that provides them with the Possesions they need to make their System run.

They are providing critical Face-off production CONSISTANTLY....no Team wins without this kind of support and the Olers dearly need more strength here...now they are getting it from a surprise source....Kahun....he is putting up very very nice %s....exceptional numbers.

You cant do anything with the puck if you do not have it.

The hardest part of Hockey is taking or gaining Possession of the puck...its the grunt work that feeds Winning Teams everyone takes for granted.

Dont think that because Moma2 snaps out a little that the Big Picture is being ignored.

You dont ever let the Opposition see your real emotions....is called wearing a Game-Face....Leon is a Pro at it....when he starts getting over-emotional on the ice he appears over-animated if you dont know him..... its because he is usually leading by silent All-Star example that when he finally does speak up it is so impactfull.

Moma2 saw one of the Oilers 2 Engines needed an Oil change....so we used Shock and Awe as a Tool....we OVER-REACTED in the moment to ...show Leon how it feels.....we made a Mountain out of a Molehilll .....to show him why we all do that action .... because we are under pressure and dont have a functioning outlet that can handle our volume.

Leon is likely the most respectful Teammate I have ever seen in Oilers silks and its his now MORE VOCAL on-ice communication with his Teammates that is allowing his Leadership qualities to grow and mature....we want that to CONTINE.....The entire point was to show Leon he is putting to much pressure on himself and its leaking over..... relax Leon....you have improved at the Elite level every single Season and this year is no exception....your Faceoff sucees is a result of above average comittment hard work and desire to be a Great Teammate and Leader.....all of these things are happening now....they are ongoing and all arrows are still pointing up.

Kahun...and Yamamoto....you both have unique skillsets...same as Archie.....you little Spuds can change Angles in different ways and speeds than EVERYONE ELSE....clearly.....its why all 3 of you are playing Professional Hockey in the Worlds best League.....you have all learned to optimise your strengths to execute your Roles....all of you belong where you are......however.....because of your hard work and efforts you frequently end up diggin pucks off of the walls especially behind the net....lets just see a few more wraparound attempts and little soft shots bounced in off of Goalies from BACK THERE behind the GOAL LINE.....mix it up....once in a while use you ability to change angles so quickly to wrap-it.....we just need to see 25-30% more of those Possesions behind the net be driven into the net without kicking the puck back outside of the Cluster.

Nugey....try your 1/2 Slapper....because to set it up safely you have to start looking at the Net from different areas at different times...its your inner timing you need to work on... mix it up more.....and dont forget your Backhand no one ever comments on it but its very very accurate and snappy....under-utilized and under-rated....means room to grow ----make it so.

So we can see how much of a massive difference that EXTRA 4 INCHES of Goalie Pad makes to the NHL Fanbase....it screws us out of dollar value.... Bettman screwed us out of these Goals and ALL THE HUGE VOLUME OF GOALS that Faceoffs created when players could still pin the puck to draw one.

Make them pay by holding it dEep In your zone and forcing those 2 forecheckers to commit DEEP TO YOU....and when they predictably do no....flip HEADMAN LOB PASSES over their heads to STREAKING tEAMMATES.....SKIP THE N-ZONE.

Dave...I get that you did not take your foot off of the Gas...that you did not pull the men back....but it was your failure to tacticlly recognize and react to what was happening for the entire 60 minutes including their final System adjustment that resulted in the "lull"....so by not recognizing their adjustment late in the Game to the Quick Release catalysed 2-Layer Deflection setup you in effect HIT THE BRAKES...you lost speed and momentum...so I didnt know where else we could put the tack besides your shoe to stop that from happening again......but I clearly got your point Post-Game that you did not intentionally hit the Brakes that you were firing on all cylinders and had cut the Dogs loose.....believe me Dave I know very well you realize how valuable Pre-Game data from Moma2 would be....incredible in fact from your perspective....but now you truly understand what prior Coaches and Players have faced when trying to turn things around in Edmonton....People say the is "Something in the Water" in Edmonton....but I can tell you firsthand its not anything in the water....its about principal.


Evan Bouchard was left EXPOSED and kind of hung out to dry....BY HIS COACHES AND TEAMMATES WITH NHL EXPERIENCE WHO failed to read and recognize WHAT THE JETS WERE DOING TACTICLLY TO YOU ALL.

Truth is he was going to the right spots.

Had everyone including Evan been told what was coming and what to look for he would have been taking away the sticks of those Supports looking for deflections...hes smart and aware...but he could not read what was happening any more than all the other Oilers who missed the ball ..... however had he known the Jets had adjusted their focus to the Quick-Release catalysed 2-Layer Deflection Playaction ... then Evan would have been policing opponents sticks a lot tighter and would have known here to be to interrupt their flow....Evan was in the most correct positions to be honest... but had no one to hit because they were setting up fly-by deflections not fighting for real estate and he had no one to stickcheck because no lateral passes were being made...

Dave this is just another example of the levels of damages being done to your Team by this feud....Boosh would never have been hung out to dry like that if Moma2 had everyone ready and on time.

Smitty was also hung out to dry....I knew what they were doing to him immediatly.....and I also immediatly knew you DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS HAPPENING AGAIN....had you not pulled Mike they would have blown him up completely......they simply followed last year Play-In advice on how to sink your Ship...you could tell from the 2:00 mark forward what they were doing....even Smitty should have remembered the feeling and recognized the patterns he was facing.

Evan....relax man....it was a System tactic your entire team missed on....its was an opponents System adjustment....and specific Playaction execution....Pre-Planning co-operation and sheer speed of execution mean you really had no chance to stop them if you had no prior knowledge of this attack or focus..... and @ the NHL level those Deflections and Tip-Ins DO IN FACT GET EXECUTED PROPERLY AND GOALS ARE SCORED CONSISTANTLY.......and more importantly Evan....pay attention here Son.....there is a SPECIFIC TYPE OF CHECKING REQUIRED TO COUNTER THIS TACTICAL FOCUS AT THE NHL LEVEL....... its here on this thread...you will need to learn it....ask someone to help you find the data.... or bring an Oilers Coffee Mug to Timmys on a Sunday when you are in Town and we can chat about it.[

By the way... Pionk did a crap job covering McDavid....he is nowhere near good enough defensivey to do that job..... I counted 12 clear Penalties on McDavid the Reffs did not call.....you see People....the reason 1 on1 coverage or "Ghosting" is not done @ the NHL level is because it is nearly imopssibleto do without committing CLEAR obsruction and interference FOULS on Connor McDavid.....

You see.....if you re shadowing McDavid you are NEVER FAIRLY COMPETING FOR PUCKS BY THE RULEBOOK...sooooo.....if you cut McDavid off from getting to a puck using your body to deny him space or time or impede him even with a bump ..you ARE NOT BY THE RULES CAUSING INCIDENTAL CONTACT....you are NOT COMPETING FOR PUCKS WITH HIM....you are obstructing him and preventing him from getting to pucks illegally......

So Pionk the League via Officiating is setting a horrible example....Pionk is an underskilled player who only has wheels to keep up to Connor....and the Reffs are lettng him foul Connor OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER.....and the Officials in this way are setting or are CREATING a PRECEDENT that will impact ALL SKILL PLAYERS OF CONNORS LEVEL...and this hurts the entire NHL BY PROXY AND BY PRODUCT.

The Officials came out calling for the Jets last game...it was clear.....they let the Oilers know who was Boss....arseholes....they also ALLOWED PIONK to impede obstruct and foul Connor Mcdavid all night lon....really nice work by he idiot Zebras....we hate power ripping Reffs....might be time to look at their work soon.

If Officials allow 2ndrate players to Shadow Superstars we will see an immediate degredation Leagewide in the quality of Hockey the Fans recieve for their dollars....a really dumb ass way to go when the NHL will soon NEED EVERY FAN IT CAN GET to come back to games.......

I thnk its time for some changes @ the top of the NHL...between no Faceofs from pinning pucks on the wall which removes critical offense and excitement to Goalie Pads so big all we see in net now are Giants which makes again for boring hockey.....and now setting a precedent that Teams who dont have the skilled players to handle Mcdavid teams that CHOSE TO NOT INVEST IN HIGH QUALITY 2-WAY fORWARDS have now got a FREE TICKET TO DRAG HM DOWN UNTIL SOMEONE INJURES HIM ON A NON-HOCKEY CONTACT FOUL.....

Remember when Gretzkys back was injured by a cheap-shot crosscheck from behind ?.....that happened ONLY BECAUSE THE OFFICIALS HAD BEEN LETTNG TEAMS SHADOW WAYNE AND ABUSE HIM AWAY FROM THE PLAYACTIONS.... the Officials were partly to blame for that injury and Wayne was never the same again.....it was another 1/2 assed NHLer called Csasper I think that hurt the Game Greatest Player because he could not fairly defend him.

Brian Burke mentioned a huge tough guy who was and still might be available....methinks its time to load up for the Playoffs right now....and to go back to protecting Connor....so now we need 1 or 2 McLellands and Raffi Torres style Players who can go out and kick the puck out of guys like Pionk who shadow Connor.... Lucic and Nurse arent chasing little beestards around they cannot do it....the Oilers need a couple of Nasty Boys now who will get the job done without explicit instructions required....Nurse is not expendable and really neither is Kassian.....the Oilers need to put a couple of weapons on the 4th line now that they are using it properly as a Bullpen.....guys who know their jobs and who are ok with doing that job....Expendables...... the Oilers have good balance on the Roster the problem is that out of their fair share of smaller players they dont have a Little Misery type with a chip on his shoulder to take care of the Pionks...they need a Midleweight Shadow-Buster.

The Jets took Nurse out of the equation early....it was tactical not emotional.....that freed up Pionk to Shadow McDavid....it created a Dynamic within the game.....and in the Officials minds....however I think Kasian believes he is only a Heavyweight and I believe he can no longer can cover the bet as an Enforcer in the NHL.....yes he will go with the Big Boys but he doesnt know wen to also go after the Middleweights and little guys.....hes following the Big Man Heavyweight "Code" and that prevents him from policing smaller Players....its an escape and an out or an excuse.....Tkchuk and Kassian are on the same level not Heavyweights just middleweight pests....and Kevin McLellend proved that all Championship[ Teams need Middleweights who can fight up and down in weight classes like Fast Guided Missiles.......not just act like Heavyweight Nuclear Bombs.

The Officials are going to screw you ALL NIGHT LONG....they are making it clear...si ignore them or you will get caught up in their bullspit.

The Reffs know what they are doing....2 missed calls against your Number One defenseman is trying to screw with the games end result...

I dont mind mistakes and bad calls...but when I see Momentum being defined by a Zebra who CAN FEEL THAT MOMENTUM AND KNOWS WHAT IT MANS and isnt even playing in the game I get a bad taste in my mouth....its no good man no good.
