If you want, here is a cleaned up version (sharper edges etc).

Hi There! I really need some help with something, as I don't have photoshop and well, just don't know how to do it - but I was hoping that someone here with the capability, and knowhow, could take the ATS lettering portion, and render it in green (to go with the avatar) where, outside of the ATS (in green) lettering, it would be completely transparent all around..

I would REALLY appreciate it (and so would others I think) - thanks.

Yes, the grasshopper is caught in a venus flytrap facing the very jaws of death with an apparent serene, knowing smile, unconcerned.

And as I size it (the ATS Logo) down to label size, I need it to have the higher resolution, which I think this logo-pic (quoted) has.

Just the ATS, nothing else, no caption, abovetopsecret.com, no border, in a nice green, with a completely transparent background (including inside the A and the S). I could then place it on the avatar wherever it's the most aesthetically pleasing, and then that would rock ie: I'd be very happy. That's my wish anyway..

Hey, you don't get if you don't ask, right?

Best Regards,

NAM

Photoshop is great. If you're rich.

Use Gimp... Does the same thing. And it's free. If you aren't locked into PS and it's GUI hasn't been infused in your mental pathways, learn gimp and be free.

Or Pixlr. It's online, so no need to install, and emulates photoshop very well. I use it when I need to do graphic work on someone else's computer.

Ok, thanks, I'll download and start learning that, but in the meantime if there's anyone who can do what I'm asking really easily, then I'm still open to a special gift..

Hmmm, I use GIMP fairly regularly.
I've been playing around with the logo, got green letters, but doing it transparent eludes me.

Maybe someone can help me too?

Never mind, you wanted transparent everything else, not the letters.

I still need help myself.

1. Make a selection from color of letters you wanted to create.
2. Create a new layer and fill with the color you want.
3. Delete the layers below (your original logo in this case)
4. Save as a transparent PNG

Edit: to avoid confusion, update step one from saying just "select"

Man someone beat me to it. But I did the words, too.

Ahh, and I didn't see the 'no words' part. But there they are anyway. I was bored.

JPGs aren't transparent. You can still resize a png though.

If it is jpg then it will have a white square background and not transparent. You have save it as a png if you want to maintain its transparency or gif

Thanks everyone, I've got just what I need, and it turns out that transparent doesn't look as good as green on black. Now just a matter of proper sizing and positioning, and I'm good to go! Thanks again for your help, I appreciate it!

Sorry, but I was thinking 'semi-transparent'
I am going to have to figure that one out

Got it!

Green on green, with transparent surroundings doesn't work as good as the green on black I have now, imo, so it's all good. Thanks people, you were very quick to help out and I appreciate it.

As for the avatar, I like not only his apparent knowing, equanimous smile, but the way his antenna protrude beyond the venus flytrap's jaws of certain death!

It can have a number of layers of meaning, a few of which are rather amuzing..

Best Regards,

NAM

P.S. The signature of the Milky Way represents OTOH, a domain of absolute freedom that is so vast it's beyond anyone's psychological "control" or possible manipulation.
