IRIS lists nine (9) active quakes in the past 24 hours.

Mag 4.9 at Svalbard Region

Mag 5.1 at Southern Xingshiang China

Mag 5.1 at Sumba Region, Indonesia

Mag 4.5 at Seram Indonesia

Mag 5.2 at the Solomon Islands

Mag 4.5 at the Kuril Islands

Mag 4.3 in Northern Alaska (very near HAARP)

Mag 4.5 off the coast of Oregon

Mag 5.2 off the west coast of Mexico

Is it my imagination or are they not only get larger in number, but in magnitude?

And of course a sharp spike in HAARP emmissions today...

Remember, there is no coincidence.

Looking at the depth, this one seems rather shallow as opposed to most quakes in the NMSZ.

SUNSPOT WATCH: Sunspot 375 is growing in size and complexity, and could soon become a source of Earth-directed M-class solar flares. The spot stretches about five Earth diameters from side to side, so it's easy to see. But never look directly at the sun. Use safe solar projection methods instead.

A light earthquake shook portions of Western Kentucky early Friday, authorities said.

The 4.5 magnitude quake occurred shortly before 7:30 a.m. CDT, with its epicenter one mile south of Blandville in Ballard County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Ray Bowman, spokesman for the Kentucky Division of Emergency Management, said he had no reports of injuries. The quake apparently was felt most in portions of Western Kentucky and southern Illinois hugging the Mississippi River. In Carlisle County in Western Kentucky, the quake cracked sidewalks, broke windows and knocked pictures off walls, said Donna Laird, the countys emergency management director. Telephone service was disrupted in the towns of Arlington and Berkeley, she said. Laird said she had no reports of power outages.

Actually its not odd at all... The New Madrid has the potential of being the most destructive seismic zone in North America. It totally destroyed 2 towns in 1811-1812 and made the Mississippi River run backwards.

It is long overdue for another quake.

Something very unusual is going on. Not just with Earth but with the entire solar system as well.

It has to do with the cycle which is coming to an end in 2012...Then it starts all over again.

Hope we are all still here.

Indeed... a 6.7 rates as a major earthquake...

There is something going on...

HAARP emmissions are spooling up... I wonder if they have a transmission profile they are fitting or ??

Apparently, for about a year, we have had a temporarily captured astroid doing a little "lotus dance" around us. Just a few days it ago it busted a move and escaped earth orbit.

Maybe it was massive enough that when it left our close-earth region it caused some tetonic reactions???

I include the link to the asteroid tracking animation below...

DR, how long has it been since they've done this much on a weekend?

And IRIS is showing *no* quakes in the last 24 hrs...

Hey guys, been gone for the last couple of days so havent had the chance to check seismic data or HAARP magnetometer, so am behind a couple of days (when I came back, I think someone had been in my house...)

Banshee,

You are correct, HAARP usually is not very active on weekends (I honestly think the operators at Elmendorf AFB get the weekend off). This is also obvious on holidays/3 day weekends. I dont know offhand how long ago it has been since it was very active on the weekend (would have to go back through this thread, as that is about how long I have been checking it daily).

As far as the IRIS seismic record, well... just due to the activity at HAARP I would expect a good burst of activity in the next 48-72 hours.

It certainly does make one ask questions about what is happening on the weekend to make them break this cycle though.

Maybe pending military action? There are rumors that HAARP was used to modify the weathre patterns in Bosnia when NATO began bombing.

Valhal, I looked at the animation you posted. It is very interesting, and it makes me wonder why this wasnt better publicized by NASA, as that is proof of just how easily the Earth interacts with orbital bodies. I dont have any information about size or mass of this body, but I would suspect it is at least large enough to do serious damage to any nearby population center on impact.

As for the potential seismic implications you mentioned, I think you are talking about the tidal vectoring theory of seismic activity. That is a very interesting theory, and has a reliability of about 50% (which is at least as good as any other seismic modeling theories so far).

In answer to your question however, I kind of doubt that it is the cause of the recent seismic activity planetwide. If it is something small enough to get yanked off its trajectory by Earth, it likely doesnt have enough mass to seriously affect earth through tidal forces. The tidal vectoring theory indicates tidal forces exerted by the sun and other planets, considerably larger than this body.
