Hey.. You can't get on IRC.
Because IRC is on the Internet!

Internet is not just the web, you know..

clearly i said find a way to get on IRC. Won't be easy , but it is possible .

BBSnet is a small IRC (Internet Relay Chat) network, without a lot of the policies and rules found on the larger networks. It was created for BBS (Bulletin Board Systems) operators to allow their users to chat with other BBS users across the world.

BBSnet is an open minded and open policys network. The rules are simple and few. You are welcome to idle without being kicked. Anyone with a static IP can join, even if you run Windows. BBSnet allows people all over the world to chat with each other, usually only at the cost of a local phone call.

bbsnet.thebbs.org...

Irc Is text based protocol . It won't be to hard to get back online , and turn irc into a giant BBS system. With artificial temporary ip's set up.

I would get back to what I was doing before the internet existed. Life was better IMO. I'm spending too much time on the net and I can't help myself, like an addiction. Doesn't mean I want to. I used to write, paint, read and sometimes get bored. I would meet friends in real life and it would be exciting meeting them because we had not heard from each other in a while. [I also hate telephones]. I think I would start existing in the real world again and appreciate going into a bookshop looking for interesting books and be amazed by specialised magazines. Whilst a lot of good stuff would be lost [like instant answers to questions], in general I'd probably happy if we could get back to the days you had to entertain yourself. made you somehow more creative.

According to Michael Persinger we'd all reconnect to the earth's magnetic field to create a giant consciousness. He says that the modern electronics and communications block the transaction.

So it seems no matter what we do we're connecting to something.

I'd probably and very reluctantly get the hoover and the polish out and get dressed before lunchtime. Then maybe sit out the back and skywatch while pondering what to plant in the garden this year.

I guess I would need to set up a Dial-up BBS again.
Like in the old times...

Ah yes.... I remember those.. in fact it was through those that we created our Medieval Guild. The advantage to the old BBS systems was that they were LOCAL and you could actually meet with all those online.

Now imagine the BBS with the speed of the modern web

My BBS was a part of the world-wide FidoNet.
Once or twice per day, it dialed up to the regional hub, and synchronised the NetMail and Discussion-groups.

Books certainly. Try to find a society with ATS-like mentality
In advance it would be cool to change phone numbers with some of you.. don't know how people would react though if I asked

The Internet can't be shut down zorgon, there is no on off switch. Even if parts of it were disabled it would always be up somewhere else. Unless you know a way to shut down all the servers in the world you can rest easy.

You doesn't have IP's on Dial-Up BBS's.
IRC is on internet.
You can't resolve an internet DNS name, unless you are on the internet.

1.6 - How can I get to BBSnet?
You have three ways to reach BBSnet in order to chat.
a) IRC Client - Point your IRC Client to irc.DAL.net 7000 - this will randomly choose a server within BBSnet for you to use.
b) Java Client - chat quickly and easily from your own web browser.
c) Telnet Client - telnet to BBSnet by typing telnet telnet.BBS.net - login as BBSnet and choose your nick. NOTE: when using the telnet client, you cannot change servers.

My first reaction would be to run up and down the street bare ass naked hooten and hollerin with joy.

I would certainly not have to worry about a video popping up of me on youtube either.
Sounds like a win-win situation as far as I am concerned.

I would sit back and watch all the you tube and google videos I downloaded onto the LAN.

Catch up on some classic console gaming with the emulators.

And watch the big city burning bright on the horizon.

I'd concentrate on finding rugs that would tie a room together.

Good question!
Personally id cry! The internet is amazing. And I use it for everything, and many mock the uses of the web, which is sad as I bet you all have an ebay account or have spent a few days reaming through youtube videos collectively.
But like 90% of you posting on this thread are bloody arrogant. Claiming they'd pick up a book, or carry on with there lives just as normal! Then I glance across to see they have over 7000 posts and some much more! and may have been a member for a much shorter time than myself, and that is what answers the question! Not your own pipe dreaming minds

I'd be really annoyed at first. Then pick up a book.
