I didn't neccessarily say it was smart or for the right reasons. I can't see inside the person's face so I don't know their reasons.

It's still brave though and, to be honest, even if the person isn't attention seeking I imagine we would see the same responses.

Regarding keeping things to themselves ... no ones forcing you to watch ITV, any more than people force you to watch pornography, or any other TV program. I can at least see this having some used to persons that grow up a similar way.
