Should we blame Bush again?

And the Republican party in general, yes.

The damage done to this country economically and politically during the Bush regime is of such magnitude that it can't be undone in a short period of time. Especially with the rest of the GOP doing everything they can to "make Obama a one-term President" and to hell with the country in the meantime.

Obama has not been as effective as he should have been, or could have been, but yes, the fundamental problem is due to the policies implemented during the Bush regime.

Painful to hear, but true.

I sure hope you don't think all that Stimuli has made things better.
Get real man, just because you throw money at something doesn't mean you fix it, many times it makes things worse.

The blame Bush cutoff point has come and gone, the real issue now is wondering how long it's going to take to fix Obama's crap.

Why do people always blame a President for the unemployment rate? What the hell did any President have to do with employment? A business makes a decision to hire or not hire. A business makes the decision to lay off or not lay off. They do not call the President to see what the recommendation is.

Funny how everyone yells for "less government" but demands to know FROM THE PRESIDENT where the jobs are. Stupid, really.

Obama himself was shouting about all those shovel ready projects that would have created many jobs.
Later, he said "they wer'nt so "shovel ready"

"Here's My New Job !"

Those numbers are manipulated anyway I haven't had the chance to check it out thoroughly yet but cycleshaddow.com has the supposed real numbers on everything. I've heard that they're probably keeping to sets of books one to show the media and the public the other has the real rate. Including the underemployed it's probably around 20%. But its not just up in Washington, in Florida our "jobs" governor gave the o.k. for Comcast to have a Spanish language customer service call-center and applauded a whole 300 jobs. What happened to either the 1 or 2 button on the phone to designate which language you prefer. So the dirty little secret is both parties are doing it!

While I agree that passing blame around doesn't improve the situation, it is, none the less, a fact that Obama inherited a god-awful mess when he came into office, a mess produced by and during the bush regime. A god-awful mess in the largest economy in the world. It took Bush 8 concentrated years to ruin it, it's going to take anybody at least that long to recover from Bush's damage. (By "Bush" I mean the entire W administration, not just the man.)

Whether the steps that have been taken that have managed to get past the Republican obstructionism have been effective or not is certainly arguable.

One of the biggest mistakes Obama has made in my opinion is the degree to which he gives up actions and policies in which he believes in vain attempts to get some kind... any kind... of cooperation from the "Make Obama a one-term President" GOP. Whether Obama's policies would have worked if implemented as he intended is again arguable, but the degree to which he gives up the boat to the GOP has resulted in the crap recovery we are currently experiencing.

ETA:

Here's an analogy that might help... Think of the US economy as a house. A nice house on a nice suburban street, and the Presidential administration is the town manager.

Now. When the Bush administration was managing the town, they tore up the streets, tore out the fire suppression system, sold the fire trucks, set the house on fire and left, but left some of their gang members around.

So now the house is on fire, the streets are torn up, there's no water and no fire trucks and the left over gang members are shooting at anybody that walks by. And you are blaming the new town manager for not being able to put the fire out in 5 minutes.

the real reason that the manipulated jobless claims are rising

its called Scare Tactic 101,

see Øbama is in the initial phase of demanding another $1.2 Trillion of Deficit spending...
this is just after the Nov-Dec showdown for some $1.5Trillion which brought the Congress to the fringe-edge

Øbama is implying that the new deficit spending is needed to keep the feeble 'recovery' intact...

its all smoke & mirrors...
the employment numbers were improving;
as he & the staff were in the initial re-election campaign start-up phase

hey... even the unemployment numbers were retreating to the 8.5% level (even as 20% are permanently unemployable, what with the new "skeleton crew" workforce model that the Corporate Elites deem as the New Paradigm-for-Profits management model)

The job number manipulation is being done at the White House.

They are not counting people who have given up and dropped out of the workforce.

There is one guy I wouldnt mind without a Job.

OBAMA

Remember the myth of Obama creating more Private sector Jobs in Obamas first 8 months, then Bush in all his 8 years?

www.abovetopsecret.com...

So many lies in this administration, makes Bush look an absolute Genius, which is a VERY hard thing to do.

His new Campaign slogan, which is his oldest Campaign slogan, that hes been using perpetually, since he never STOPPED campaigning...................should be

"No Jobs for America"

The DNC may actually try to hide Michelle Obama from now on.

They did the same thing to Hillary back in 1992.

Jay Leno called it Operation Hide Hillary.

the Numbers of Jobless Claims are soo skewed its unreal.

In reality if you know anything about Maths Stats and Finance read between the lines look at the pop of USA compared to those paying IRS, and also looking at "official" figures, and compare with doomsday over the top figures by some commentators it appears and I feel comfortable this is about 5% plus/minus about 20% one in 5 of Americans are not in work, or living of savings, parents homeless or not seeking work anymore or relying on charity begging.

A rule of thumb if they say Government 9% double it and add 2% for something approaching reality.

Kind Regards,

Did you notice that the number is just under 400,000?

Try not to fall out of your chair when that number is mysteriously and quietly -revised- upward
to well up over the psychological 400,000 barrier.

Love it.

Why let the little fact that the vast, vast, vast majority of outsourcing has occurred in non NAFTA members get in the way of a good NAFTA bash.

Yes, there is an economic BOOM in China.

Mexico is still a mess.

A large number of Mexicans consider Mexico to be a failed state with all of the violence
on the border.

And what exactly would China have to do with NAFTA?

I am starting to strongly believe that most Americans have no idea about the benefits they receive from NAFTA vs the costs.

NAFTA has been a very good thing.

It has kept necessary resource and commodity prices artificially low.

US/China trade agreements, on the other hand, are pretty much a single flow establishment...and believe it or not, it is the US that is profiting. Just not the middle or lower income brackets.

Blaming Bush won't work. The American people want solutions NOT excuses.

You are making yourself look like a fool.
Where is Obama blaming Bush? Anywhere? Nope. He is not. You are just ranting.
Meanwhile, the REPUBLICANS were still blaming Clinton in November 2008.

Do your math and see if you can figure out why what you are upset about (SOMETHING NOT HAPPENING AT ALL ANYWHERE) and reality do not add up.
People like you always sound like you are mad that you enjoyed blaming Clinton during all 8 years of Bush but Obama is not playing your game and blaming Bush like you want him to. He is not coming down to that level so people like pretend that he is.
Imagine if you had something legit to complain about...
like the job numbers and not some fake excuse that only you seem to have heard.

Apparently some of these folks have no idea of the concept of time or they thought Obama was a superhero and that is why they voted against him. I am not sure why people think he was supposed to just fix everything on day one or his election was going to undue the damage done.
I think if these people had a home burn down and it took a while to rebuild it, after a few weeks they would stop blaming their loss of their house on the fire and apparently start blaming themselves for living in the flammable house they have yet to rebuild for the fire that burned it down to begin with?

Obama did not fix everything in 3 years so we cannot acknowledge past problems, look at them critically, or god forbid assign blame. If Obama wants to stop blaming Bush it is probably best for him but I think anyone with an ounce of critical thought understands where there are still things we can blame Nixon, Reagan, Clinton for. Presidents do things that last, at least they did until Obama got elected. Then these folks decided each president is a brand new man.

I sure hope when the next Republican is in office he does not even try to blame the person before him even a day. They set their new unrealistic standards and I think we both know they will only last while a Democrat is in office.

Obama is not blaming Bush because James Carville told him it isn't working.
People do what works.
---
Obamas supporters are forced to keep throwing the - inherited - word out there over and over
because the economy is a disaster.

Their argument is that yes the economy is a disaster and Obama didn't fix it.

But he was handed such a mess from President George W. Bush nobody could fix it.
Don't you watch the Sunday talk shows???

Have you noticed Chris Matthews has already turned on Obama?

If NAFTA was/is a success why have so many Mexicans continued to pour across
our border?

The solution is to fix Mexico.
That's easier said than done. It's a war down there.

Mexicans would be pouring across the border regardless of NAFTA.

Happens every time there are two neighbouring nations with large standard of living disparities.

Case and point:
Illegal Mexican immigration has outpaced legal immigration since 1990.

NAFTA was signed in 1994.

In fact the use of illegal Mexican workers has been documented as far back as 1850, which is a whole 2 years after the Mexican-American War ended.
