So you want to implement a socialist/communist doctrine of forcing people to have a certain amount of kids? And exactly what is your evidence that the world is overpopulated and "we are a threat to the world"?... Why, because some leftwing source told you so?

How about this. instead of trying to sequester atmospheric CO2, which is proven to increase the productiona and harvest of ALL green biomass on Earth, how about we allow atmospheric CO2 to keep increasing, which in turn will make the Earth GREENER, like it has been doing for the last few decades?

This is the main thing right here. We are a social species so people tend to move towards the more populated areas (Use New York or LA as an example). We could spread the population so thin that you wouldnt see another person for hours or even days, but being the social species we are, most of us tend not to want to live in the woods by ourselves.

With that said, what troubles me the most about some of these posts is how quickly people are ready to jump on the bandwagon without looking at other solutions. Even if over population was a problem (which its not), there are other solutions to it such as colonising Mars, our Moon, or other near by planets. At some point this species needs to seriously consider the fact that this planet will not be here forever and that at any given moment our entire species could be wiped out instantly. The universe is a very hostile place and so to ensure our survival eventually (sooner rather than later) serious steps need to be taken. This may seem Sci-fi to some people, but it is indeed reality.

As to your mention of Ron Paul what people need to understand is that freedom and liberty is the sign of an intelligent civilisation. Tyranny however is the norm for our species and has been throughout our entire history. To those that cant seem to figure out why people like Ron Paul so much its because there is no alternative. He is founding father material. Not one other person on that stage will end these pointless, illegal and undeclared wars day one. Nobody else is going to secure our borders. And nobody else is going to move our country and this world back towards true freedom and liberty. I think though that most people honestly fear true freedom and liberty because with it comes great responsibility. There will be no bail outs for you or the banks. And I think thats what people fear the most. That you actually can fail without a Government to hand you everything.

We have two paths to choose. And for those who are into the Bible and the good books heres your sign. Tyranny or freedom. Hitler or Washington. Look around you at America. Over population is not a problem nor will it ever be. The war mongers will see to that. However, as much as we spend on war, could be spent to bring water in to arid lands, which are all over the US, and other countries. Desalinization and pipes to pump water into the desert. What a great way to create jobs too. Another poster says it is the system that is the problem. True...Greed over shadows any positive plan, or idea or invention that could be good to solve our problems, so the system won't allow anything that is not profitable monetarily. Until we can dismiss with that paradigm, then most of our problems will not be solved. But if you think about it, we are the system, and can effect change.
No, I think this world was created for us, to sustain us. Not the other way around, and over population is not even an issue no matter how you look at it.

there could be all variations on how to thin the density. You can have smaller cities, villages all the way down to living in a self sustaining way in the wilderness. I'm sure there has to be some optimum size for a "city" to be self sustaining with near zero or zero impact on the environment. I see pollution and population density as going hand in hand as far as being very serious problems today. Any of the current cadre of political "leaders" will just plod us down the path to ruin. I see Paul as a potential saviour of sorts that is as long as they don't assassinate him. In that case all hope is lost. Appropriate that this election comes in 2012 don't you think?

Should you discover there is gold under your backyard, would you complain about it that its too much of wealth, or will you try to find ways to tap such wealth? I am sure all do know what the answer will be.

Similarly too, with 7 billion people on Earth, fully capable of supporting tens of times that number. Human capital is resource for every nation. It's only how one plans to ensure everyone is provided for, with the bounties of our planet that had not run out of resources, nor humanity's ingenuity to improve upon learnt knowledge for advancement in all sectors.

We need not even look to the stars yet, for 70% of our planet's surface still remains UNDISCOVERED and UNTAPPED - our oceans. With our current technology, we can harvest such wealth from the seas and seabeds if we only try.

Africa alone has the resouces to provide for the world for millenia, but selfishly kept by a few corrupted leaders there, hurting and harming our fellow human brothers and sisters there. Education is the only answer for them, and UN had failed miserable to level up the education to that of the western world.

Instead of centralised planning of education for the precious young of africa, they are kept in unproductive farms separated from each other by hundreds of miles, making education difficult for the kids due to lack of transportation. As they do not improve, so too will their society be forever left behind, kept dumb and stupid by their corrupt leaders, and wasting further resources including human capital that could have helped it progress and evolve.

When you hear cries of 'over-population', you will only be hearing the failure and ineptitude of such persons making those cries, if not absolute unconscionable selfish intentions of hoarding and not sharing wealth.

All I can say is Al Gore sure did a good job at propaganda. Stop breathing too much CO2. Stop breeding, humans are a parasite. A bunch of lies couched in half digested truth made so many people believe.

Just a comment, but of all my friends, most all of them have had two children, and of that one third have had only one, only my sister has had five. I had two, and they might be likely to not have any, and I believe that is a concious effort.
