It really, really pisses me off when you get idiots on this site wishing for the destruction of other countries, taking pleasure in the death and suffering of innocent people.

It's really starting to drive me away from this site.

-- Not only is it verging on racism but it proves to me just how idiotic and uncaring some people really are. Since when was this site about fuelling war and fear and hatred?

Let's take an example: On one thread discussing Iran, I noticed there were one or two Iranian members trying to have a debate - yet other (shall we say slightly retarded members) started hooting and howling about how the bombing of Iran can only be a good thing and that they wished Iran would be bombed before Christmas and other such mindless, pathetic drivel.

Is that what we have been reduced to now?

Would it therefore be okay for someone to take delight in the collapse of the twin towers? Because that's the equivalent - would it be okay to laugh about the people who jumped out of the windows onto the streets of New York because they were overcome with heat and smoke and fumes? Or shall we have a giggle at the firemen who were crushed under tons of rubble? Or what about
those...
those innocent New Yorkers who were smashed into bits by the planes that came crashing through their office walls? Hilarious?

No.

People- you really need to sort your heads out.

Just because this is an American site does not mean give you an excuse to be pro-war. I'm sick of it. Can we not have a debate about things without resorting to 'OMG I hope that country gets nuked'

It makes me think that this site has been over-run by angst-ridden juvenile trolls who have emerged from a rather backward gene pool.

I don't think so Slayer - I'm vehemently anti-war, I get sickened by some of the comments here and I'm beginning to think that this site is going downhill fast.

Since when is it okay to disrespect your fellow humans? A lot of members here talk about their enemies as though they are dogs and animals, forgetting that even in war - respecting your enemy is what keeps you human.

Slayer, what the heck kind of comment was that?

I think he is asking a reasonable thing, although unfortunately it will fall on mostly deaf ears. For me there is an exception however. I would take some form of twisted delight in seeing the people responsible for the insane suffering of war-ravaged countries everywhere, die horrible, painful, suffering deaths. Only because they deserve it. Other than that, I have no blood lust for anyone.

First off, IMO...

This should be in RANT.

Second, You love to come out and take a swing at the US/West when they cause atrocities [which is understandable and should be discussed] yet, I don't recall seeing you post your opinions against atrocities carried out by others say by, [Iran, Syria and yes, even Qaddafi] to mention just a few.

So yes, I say you've been very one sided in your approach from my observations

That is all.

Thanks. I agree.

I think my point is: Can we not discuss and debate war without feeling the need to indulge in such hatred?

Ya well we have to lead by example...if this is juvenile hall then there has to be someone to lead by example!

Of course there is always going to be the trolls and thats just fine...makes the rest look good...the people here who are really interested or concerned about this rolling ball we live on!

Well i'm not sure what you mean here. I've mentioned and debated how corrupt ever country is - whether that be Indian child trading, Chinese death trucks, Muslim suicide bombers, The Taliban executing girls for getting an education, eastern European porn rings and human trafficking, Mexican drug gangs, UK bank owners, Iranian clerics.

How is this one sided?

Mr Lizard, I feel your annoyance. It's a part of what led me to take a break from posting or doing much of anything on the sites for most of this past week. It's just too much sometimes...the voyeurism and near fetish with watching and all but giving scores for death and destruction elsewhere.

On the other hand tho...I personally believe we're seeing the culmination of a couple decades of progressively violent movies, video games and society in general. No No...That isn't to blame...BUT.... How many tens of thousands of simulated rapes, tortures and murders can one person see from childhood to adulthood before the suffering and plight of others really mean little more than another form of personal amusement to partake in and enjoy?

Many on this site have never heard a shot fired in anger or seen a death outside of natural causes or inside the controlled environment of a medical facility. How can anyone expect those folks to understand what they are rooting for is downright evil?

I know it's HORRIBLE to put it that way...but your whole point in OP is pretty horrible too..... It'd be terrible as well, if it weren't largely true.

Most of the "nuke those idiots back into the stone age" mentality idiots are neo-conservatives with a lust for power and domination over others. It is the same people who need a 44magnum to feel strong and who say "go to hell black man"(oh I was itching here to use a different word), "go to hell you lazy welfare receipent--I want all my billions in swizterland", "take a bath OWS hippie".........

Do you see the point OP? It is a right wing conspiracy for sure. House of Lords and Republicans are the same thing. They want war, money, world government, suppression of technology, oppose minimum wage laws, oppose social security and healthcare, pro bankers, pro big business, pro-depopulation, anti-enviroment, etc

Put the blame were it deserves brother.

In every country in the world there is good people and evil people....everyone knows that. So....I am wondering why anyone would want or delight in destroying....good people. That attitude is wrong, wrong, wrong....and those members who promote and delight in violence....need to check themselves....and have an attitude change.

When the people believe that imperialism is natural and sectarian culture takes root, it leads to such ignorant muppets who are so vicarious in their bloodthirsty thoughts that they lose the compassionate thoughts of most people. We really should not take notice of these people but as that is perhaps impossible, the only cure for them is re-education and I don't think some are so open to that.

Aside from not only wanting our troops home, because the freedom of other countries does not justify American Blood, I could care less about other countries. Especially the ME.
Let it burn to the ground, kill each other or what have you.

Do I take delight in the suffering of people? Not really.

Do I think it is life when a person or people make poor choices and are left to suffer the consequences? Yes.
That is the way it needs to be.

Really? That's what you got by his OP?

I actually see his point... we all see it on here, when It's our country we defend it and when it's another country we're not so bothered... but some of the hate and some of the "Yeaaahhhh blow them off the map, nuke the lot of 'em" comments are kinda sick man.

Yeah well seems to me that a lot of people were taking delight at the sheer thought of burning Wall Street to the ground and beating down police officers so what do we get to pick and choose what topic it matters on?

Nope there is evil that exists in the rest of the world and people calling for the destruction of others so yeah i agree with Slayer here.

It is indeed Pot calling the kettle.

thank you for this thread - enough is enough - right?

OK - just so this is more than just an endorsement post - I'll add - things do seem to go through phases here at ATS - and I know it will all simmer down before it builds up again. I've had enough of war - real war, imaginary war, proposed war - talk of war - strategy, philosophy - all of it

but, that's on me - so, I don't get involved - I don't even read it

this seems like something other than a rant to me. That tells you something - doesn't it? Because here it is - in Rants...

there really is no point to this thread - calling for peace and respect is meaningless to war mongers

just glad to see you here - representing

S&F

No it is not "pot calling the kettle". At least not within the same context. Wall Street is responsible for capitalist globalisation where people who open up a small hardware store in amsterdam get shut down by home depot opening near by.

Or all the american business going to asia to maximise profits by saving on labor costs which puts americans out of work permanently.

How is this identical to some moron calling for the destruction of iran by nukes?
