The MONEY diagram. Perspective. Now this is why people are angry.

Now I can't link the image as it's HUGE, but it pretty much puts everything into perspective - with a list of military spending, salaries, the amount of money required if say everyone was to earn a middle class wage and other amazingly disgusting facts and physical imagery of our monetary system.

All sources are cited.

Perspective - And people wonder why the poor are rioting, protesting and complaining.

Just look at the cost of ONE B2 bomber and then look at how many people that ONE bomber could feed.

$10 dollars a year from every single US citizen and you could wipe out world hunger - but sadly a lot of Americans don't care for interfering in other countries problems unless it benefits them.

I genuinely feel awed by the diagram. And saddened

Sad isn't it?

I think it was Michael Moore (sorry) who said in one of his books, what if the US as a policy move, stated they would supply the entire world with clean drinking water.

Then did.

how many of those people would still sign on to blow themselves up? how many people would still hate us for our freedoms?

We've spent enough money in wars to have provided food, shelter, water, and medicine to everyone on this earth, equally. Instead, we've hoarded resources and caused instability to gain profits.

It's pretty sickening really.

And I'm not a socialist.

I guess you mean 10 more dollars on top of what they already give, because Americans are already extremely charitable. We're talking 300 billion a year from a population of 300 million, that's a pretty darned impressive thousand dollars per every man, woman and child in the country. The problem isn't that we're not giving enough, the problem is that many of the countries that need our money and aid the worst are not willing to accept it. One example is Somalia, where al-Qaida militants block aid and aid workers from coming in and even go so far as to claim that there is no famine or drought taking place!

You're not going to change the minds of terrorists with charity. You're dealing with people that have been raised from birth to hate others, you extend an olive branch to them and they will happily put a bullet between your eyes. We can and should continue our charitable contributions to other countries, but clearly that's not going to solve terrorism because if it could, then it would have been solved a long time ago.
