I thought we'd told you guys.

Facebook, Twitter, the CIA, FBI, NSA, Homeland Security and some guy named Bobby bought ATS a few years back. We actually only hold 2% of the company.

So we aren't associated with the, we are them

When was this

We have been talking and speculating about these types of facilities and capabilities for a long time on ATS.

I am only surprised that they are finally admitting some of it.

But I assure you, if they are telling us this much, they know far more than this. If this is unclassified, what is still classified?

They have probably been recording everyone's private life through microphones, cell phones, web cameras, etc etc for years now. Just imagine that.

You think oh I can go outside away from these technologies and have some privacy, but are you so sure? How advanced really are spy satellites these days? Can they look through your walls even with infrared or other spectrum when you are in your bedroom?

If we were in Las Vegas, I would be betting Yes...

That's the tricky part... If they did open up about it, go figure out what they are NOT opening up...

Most of us already knew sites like FB and Twitter were being watched. It's nice to see them admit it. But most people will not care, or will not even hear about it.

We also know sites like ATS is watched very closely. They are among us now, as members and possibly Mods. They are waiting and watching for the next Jared Loughner and contributing on the forums as trolls and shills.

I have nothing to hide. They know I am not a threat.

Dude, they are not "watching" through these websites. Most of these websites are THEIR fronts for data mining, disinformation, psyops and COINTELPRO activities on the 'net. I mean, Mark Zuckerberg has I'm-a-CIA-stooge written all over his forehead in neon letters.

Let us take this as a great opportunity to help them learn what each of us may have to share.

We can give them ideas that may change their mind, or open them up to new and better possibilities.

Voice your ideas so that we might improve the lot of mankind, if even there is the smallest chance that it may be true.

that thought crossed my mind as well, what better way to monitor than to create a site like ATS and pretend they are on our side ?!

Well the iconography of "Anon" does indeed show a faceless "Suit". With a tie even.

A black suit.
An Invisible Man in Black....

Good hypothesis.

No need to create ATS.

You can just allow the public to create it through their own efforts and time.

And then just monitor it, since you can monitor everything anyways.

Why do folks think stuff like this is a problem lets look at it with some logic!

Millions of giga bytes off data would be collected they DON'T have millions of staff to sit and look through every post made on Facebook & Twitter automated systems may be looking for key words and phrase that could mean you are plotting something. If you are talking to your uncle Fred about his pet dog that wouldn't be flagged up.

I live in the UK which has the highest density of cctv cameras in the world does it bother me NO, why well lets have a look at a scenario.

I am walking along a street with a few friends an operator may watch us because we are a group but as we walk along and they see we are no threat nothing happens we won't even know if we were watched.

A few minutes later another group come along and they start to cause problems ie intimidating other members of the public etc so the operator informs the police so what's the problem with that?

If you look at how much data is posted daily on the net via YouTube Facebook etc the only time an actual human would be looking at what you posted would be because it looks a threat!!!

I don't give a to** about claims like this WHY because I have nothing to worry about!

I agree that they utilize a keyword system to flag important things, but also keep in mind the automated computers could also be building complete dossiers on everyone and storing the information for further use in case they need to look you up for whatever reasons.

But you do have something to worry about...the future.

What if normal things become illegal in the future? What if smoking cigs or having a drink becomes highly illegal? It would be hard to sneak one in...

What if silly things like picking your nose becomes a crime? What if just talking to people for more than a minute becomes highly suspicious and near criminal? What if asking questions is a crime?

All of this surveillance is fine and dandy in a perfect world where everyone is a good guy with good intentions, but in that world you don't even need the spy-net because everyone is good anyways and there's no reason to be suspicious of anyone.

Sadly we don't live in that Utopia, and there are bad people in the world. What if they become powerful government officials? What if the spy is the bad guy?

Saying "I have nothing to hide, nothing to worry about" is clearly a 'thought-terminating-cliche', and your brain is using it as a method of coping with something that is so complicated and omnipresent that we are helpless to do anything about it.

A thought-terminating cliché is a commonly used phrase, sometimes passing as folk wisdom, used to quell cognitive dissonance. Though the phrase in and of itself may be valid in certain contexts, its application as a means of dismissing dissention or justifying fallacious logic is what makes it thought-terminating.
