Its mad...in 31 years the population has nearly doubled.

That's strange... It told me that 79.5 billion had lived.... Teh popalashun iz blow up fast. We skroozd!

That is pretty cool, I was the:4,344,891,078th person born, hard to believe we are up to 7 billion!

Now how do they know this for sure?

number 2, 480,000,000

but other projections say that the world will have reached 7Billion + in 2020,
now thats quite a discrepancy as its now 2011 and there is already 7 billion humans...
even with all the bloodshed in Africa/middle east,
and tsunamis in Japan and Indonesia

at this rate we will be at 8 billion humans by 2020

Considering that number is down by nearly 4 billion from when I visited it, I would have to say they don't.

Weirdness but interesting ;-) It gives me something like this...

In the entire history of the world, as far back as the first Homo sapiens 76,236,290,588 people were born before you.

In North America there were 727,151,015 born before you.

Which makes me numbers 76,236,290,589 and 727,151,016 respectively.

Or if we do the numerology thing in triplets (because you can't have two middle numbers);

76,236,290,589
76 = 7+6 = 13 = 1+3 = 4
(236)+(290) = 2+3+6 = 11 = 1+1 = (2) + 2+9+0 = 11 = 1+1 = 2 -> (2)+(2) = 4
589 = 5+8+9 = 22 = 2+2 = 4

727,151,016
727 = 7+2+7 = 16 = 1+6 = 7
151 = 1+5+1 = 7
016 = 0+1+6 = 7

So I guess I reduce to 777 or the numbers on the flag of the AWB in Suid Afrika. I wonder if that makes me their leader now? LOL! Anyone know what 444 means?

EDIT: Shame it isn't accurate LOL again

Cheers - Dave

I am the:

When you were born, you were the:
4,340,688,675th
person alive on Earth
78,866,372,093rd
person to have lived since history began

I then did my child who is almost a year old and got:

When you were born, you were the:
6,925,851,875th
person alive on Earth
83,088,628,183rd
person to have lived since history began

so just under 100,000,000 people were born in th epast year

When you were born, you were the:
5,215,613,772nd
person alive on Earth
80,234,937,729th
person to have lived since history began

This is what they say they did to calculate and reach these numbers:

"Both numbers have been calculated using UN Population Division figures. The first is an estimate of how many people were alive on your date of birth. It is one possible value based on global population figures and estimates of growth rates over time. Data before 1950 is less accurate than figures after that date. The second number includes calculations based on the methodology of scholar Carl Haub, who estimated how many people had been alive since 50,000 B.C. His calculation has been amended by the UN to include additional points in time."

A lot of estimations so it is definitely not spot on, but a good estimate. Fun and interesting at least.

Can anyone figure out who was 6,666,666,666????

What year that would be?
According to the calculation
it would be someone born in 2007!

Do we have the anti-christ living among us?

They absolutely do not know any of this for certain but I guess these are the best estimates we've got for the time being.

Aug 4, 2007
When you were born, you were the:
6,666,685,077th

Sometime either on the 3rd or 4th of August 2007.
More likely on the 4th.

OK sorry for getting carried away, but some of these stats just hit you in the face.

740,417 of the 10 million species since I was born have become extinct. Harsh, so many

Thanks for the additional stats - I think they all matter, whether it's human numbers or animal species, they all give us a better idea of just what's going on in the world. The number of people dying/being born in a single lifetime is particularly insane.

They may be estimates but they're better than any random numbers I can come up with

Whats really funny is that it is the number on the georgia guide stones.

But the population jump really has to do with the development of better medicines and the rise of the industrial revolution. Because up to that point birth and death rates were about even. Then people were still having large families but the death rate dropped. After awhile we reached the post industrial age in the west which is cause our population growth to begin to be really slow, or in some places like germany to actually be negative(if you don't account for imigration). So the countries who are still in the mid to late development stage have dropping death rates, but are still transitioning from the mentality of having lage families.

Sorry if my spelling is pretty bad and if I don't make very much sense I haven't really slept in the last forty-eight hours.

So my question is when do they start counting?

How do they arrive at the total number of people that have ever lived?
Is it based on the biblical account of creation, evolution, ancient Sumerian texts, Atlantean populations?

In an evolutionary context, I wonder who was the last monkey that didn't make the cut? It would suck to be that guy!
He was probably made fun of and harrassed after that!

Poor Monkey!

Hi Hawking

On 15 April 1959 there were (according to the UN stats) something like 2.89 Billion Terran-humans on good ole Terra (=planet Earth, that 3rd rock from Sol...) - that number since then has a little more than doubled to-day to approx. 6.91 Billion (and counting....counting....counting....).

When the great Mozart was alive (c. 1756 - 1791) Terra had approximately 980 Million terran-humans crawling over her.... and when Aristotle was teaching and walking around c. 330 BCE there were an estimated 220 Million Terran Humans alive & stuck by gravity here.

Seems like population increase since 1800 has been, well...EXPONENTIAL !!

3,960,130,896 people were alive when you were born
4,957,454,610 people were born since you
1,918,306,405 people have died since you were born

As a result, the population today is 6,999,279,102

I find this extremely interesting from the point of view that there have been almost half as many deaths since I was born as the population when I was born. Wow. 2 billion people have died in 37 yrs. 54 054 054 people per year are dieing in my lifetime thus far. That's like 1.4% of the original population dieing each year. and... there has been growth of 133 985 259 per year or 3.3% of the original population at my birth growing each year.

Easy to see why we are doubling our population on this world.

BUT...to all you folks that say that we need to curb population, BAH! We need to curb our material driven lives. This planet could host far more people than we have now, without hunger or exposure. If we learned to accept a symbiotic balance with this planet we could easily support ourselves. Instead of keeping up with the Jones' when it comes to SUV's, LCD TV's, iPod's, computers etc... let's keep up to them in the written word, growing food to support ourselves and our families individually, the challenge of fine art, music etc. Civilization somehow became synonymous with technology. For shame on the species that destroys the planet and it's fellow species like we do. Anyone that argues for population decrease has been disinformed by TPBT.

...and yes I do realize I am typing on my computer while saying this. Part of the solution is at first waking up to realize there needs to be one!
