I heard about this on Fox news. I had been watching the GOP debate on CNN and then switched to Fox and they were talking about this. Cloward-Piven strategy of overloading the system. Someone on the show said they can do an en-masse trial.

We have a lot of the same things happing here in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Something tells me we are going to see a lot of these cases all over the nation.
It’s got to be somewhat of a drain on the economy and very counterproductive to say the least.

Occupy Cincinnati sues city over citations

Occupy Cincinnati protesters took their fight to federal court Monday when they accused the police and city officials of violating their free speech rights.

We have a national debt of 16 trillion in actual dollars with projections into the fantasy world of 50-100 trillion on regular compounding interest rates....and a few thousand protesters running thru the courts on petty charges is a concern? There won't be a system left much longer given the first fact..the latter one is trivial by comparison.

I know some people absolutely hate the Occupy movement as hard as others absolutely hate the Tea Party movement...but we're all Americans in the end. Really, it's all the same country and we're all in the same E-ticket attraction heading for a catastrophic accident. Perhaps working to change the movement into something more to each person's liking would be preferable to simply ridiculing it and accepting that train wreck as unavoidable and inevitable. The alternative is what again? Voting Ron Paul...or Cain...or Obama? Hmm.. Okie Dokie.... As if what has failed for the last few decades will suddenly work like magic and the sun will break out to bring sunshine to the world of hurt we're in. I'd love to know how that works in the real world we're all living in.

I was mainly speaking of our local economy here in Cincinnati. We are tapped out as it is. I’m not against the OWS movement (If you had checked out my other threads before going off on your rant, you wouldn't have jumped to that conclusion), but I do feel that it could be more defined on what it wants. I had planned on going down there myself and offering my support last Saturday, but I have been sick with the flu.

It appears that all the protesters are asking for trials and not dismissal. They could plead out and be done with it. Someone said that it would only be on their record for like 6 mos. But that is not what they want. They want to throw themselves upon the rock, hoping to break it.

also I bet the attorneys are Soros connected.

Take a look at this picture.

Sorry it is not up to date.

Pay attention to the healthcare and social services graph.

We pay more for healthcare and social services than any other sector of the economy and we get less return.

So your scratching your head? OK bear with me for a minute.

You know why america is broke?

You are, at least in my state..

A jury trial can be had for any misdemeanor or felony.

You can go to jury trial over a DUI which is a misdemeanor.

I know for a fact because I had a buddy that did..

What do you not understand? Soros is a declared target of this group and nothing else matters, I care not who likes it or don't like it, this is the way it is and that is that.

Quit seriously please with the lame arsed excuses trying to connect a billionaire to #OWS/OE/OT as the global movement wants no help from billionaires. It is getting old and is flat out wrong so stop with spreading intentional disinformation.

This movement has eclipsed The GOP, Dems, Tea Party COMBINED! This is why Russell Simmons who wanted to pledge money but was told no sale.

I have to agree... I have yet to see any OWS fanatic declare support for ANYTHING that Soros is peddling... Egalitarian is the word most often used, as I have seen.. Certainly not something an egocentric, self-rightous billionare would want.

I wonder how the OWSers will like sitting in a cell in Rikers Island for a few months before they get a trial. Surely no one is going to bail out 800 people.

What is likely to happen is that many people, those who were arrested for minor violations, will receive a few fines and be let off, maybe a few will receive community service (cleaning up the park maybe?).

Honestly, to say that you want to tie up the courts and make things more difficult on yourself when you can simply pay the fine and go home is one of the dumbest moves you can make. If you live in NYC then you will end up paying a few fines for something, it's inevitable.

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

That don't mean squat. All national Unions have thrown a vast majority of support for this group.

Billionaires and The 1% does maintain a business relationship with Unions but once meetings are over they rarely speak to one another until the next meeting.

Sorry try again!

Well maybe I could send you my address and you and the unions can send me my money back.

I hold no more merit to unions than I hold to multi-national corporations who only answer to stockholders. Do not try to categorize me, as I hold no allegiences to any group other than my clan. (although, I realize you might have been using "you" in the allegorical sense)

My point was simply that just because the ideas surfaced by the OWS movement may not be in line with "conservative" values, that does not make them liberal. The political spectrum is not two dimensional.

About 95% of the 780 arrested at the Brooklyn Bridge have since been released. As long as you aren't violent to a cop and it's your first arrest they will do something called a "Released On Own Recognizance" which means simply that you are detained, inputed, booked, charged, pic'd and printed and are released. Average time takes about 6 hours for low volume.

No but it does piss me off when I see YOU holding hands with them.

Allegorically speaking of course.

That's interesting there are around 16 million union members in this country now on the average they are paying $35 a month of couse that is a low ball estimate with would equal 6.7 billion dollars a year in due collections and didn't i read that all unions support OWS?

Hmmm and a good chunk of that falls into the pockets of Democratic congressman i have yet to ever see a Republican get union money.

Been so long since i was union don't right know what the average due is anymore feel free to correct that amount.

I'm not sure your 6 hour estimate really applies to NYC, but I do know what you're talking about. I've had a friend get arrested on a Friday, it was a holiday weekend, he wasn't out until Tuesday lol

It's alot. I haven't done the actual math because I would have to join the socialist party and the labor unions and climb the ranks to do so.
