Is it possible asteroids could be redirected to use as weapons? The perfect deniable weapon?

A country operating on the cheap would find it easier to send the Nuclear Reactor'd Snap10a satellite parked 4,000 miles over your head into a country.

The nuclear reactor'd satellite went into meltdown as they lost control of it, hence why it's parked 4,000 miles over you.

It has been creating another artificial radiation belt over the planet having its own effects on Earth and assets in Space.

A nuclear reactor in meltdown would survive re-entry and who knows what would happen as she came screaming in towards some country.

Ain't no guards up there protecting it. Who knows.....maybe some country's already been messing around with it.

Whatever it is it needs to be large enough and resilient enough to come through the atmosphere and still be 10m, or am I missing the point? Even an asteroid would burn up a bit on entry so the argument still holds.

All I'm saying is it's size when it is altered out in space will be greater than the initial 10m we were talking about. It could still be done, it's just a consideration.

I don't know why you've got an attitude mate.

That's a great idea, send a defunct satellite into a dive that lands on a target, hadn't thought of that!

The weapons they've got now make nuclear bombs look like little fire crackers. Which is why poor little countries went and got chemical weapons.

They might die....but they'd get a good bunch of your people if you tried to come and take them. April 2012 all countries are supposed to give up their chemical weapons.

They won't. They KNOW there are countries with very advanced weapon systems beyond nuclear bombs who are willing to use it on them.

Have been....using it on them. God no longer controls the weather on this planet...for example.

The wars have hardly been ineffective, they have been purposely protracted to allow for the building of permanent military bases which provide a launch platform into Iran/Pakistan and also give the US strategic positioning closer to China and Russia's borders from the south. They have also successfully stemmed the flow of some of China's imported oil. Since, 9/11 the opium trade is now stronger than ever in Afghanistan so the CIA drug money is now safe again in that region. They discovered huge untapped quantities of lithium in Afghanistan also, not to mention being able to interfere with Russia's proposed natural gas pipeline there. Added to this, they have deposed a dictator that had launched on Tel Aviv, Israel back in 1991. Again, going to war is profitable, the military get to use up stores of weapons, thereby having to order replacements whilst promoting the weapons used for arms exports as having been 'proven in combat' indeed, raises the desire to purchase such hardware. You won't find the military industrial complex complaining about this one bit. Finally, after flattening a large urban area, the building contracts are awarded and yet more profit for rebuilding what you have just destroyed.

Just an example of a few aspects of these 'unsuccessful' wars of late...

There are good reasons why the United States spends the equivalent of the cost of building a Pentagon every day on conducting operations in Afghanistan alone, hunting tribesmen with small arms is not one of those reasons.

I'm afraid that your comparison example is not a good one as going to war with a nation earns the US a lot more money than redirecting an asteroid to impact said nation.

I believe that it is possible to redirect cosmic objects to do what you said, though the result would probably mean that the US would have to fork out money for international aid to the targeted country. Not something the private corporations would view as good business. Building contracts might contribute, but would not account for anywhere near the cost of redirecting the asteroid in the first place.

I started this thread a while back.. Then I saw this article and thought strange timing with YU55..

"Humanity does indeed have the technical skills to move space rocks around"

This article seems to be making it clear if an asteroid does hit it will not have been steered.. I question that.. it's almost like Bush's 'let's not tolerate outrageous conspiracy theories' post 9/11

Curious me thinks...

Also their argument you would have to wait every 200-300 years to use the weapon is false.. especially if you control the NEO data - JPL NASA

and you wouldn't have to wait for one to come along..you could go out and fetch one! and the list of the actual amount of NEO's that pass us.. which NASA releases only when they have passed, reveal ammunition stock would be plentiful.

How does controlling data control the objects the data is about?

and you wouldn't have to wait for one to come along..you could go out and fetch one!

Which involves even greater orbital changes than the methods described in the article. You did read the article, didn't you?

and the list of the actual amount of NEO's that pass us.. which NASA releases only when they have passed, reveal ammunition stock would be plentiful.

And this I know you know is false, because it has been explained to you many, many times on all of your obsessive threads. Asteroids are discovered not only by NASA, but professional and amateur astronomers, who report the discoveries to the IAU. The IAU then notifies all the astronomers in the world (who can afford a modest subscription fee) and it is these astronomers who make the confirming observations and calculate the orbit. All of the data contained in the JPL was contributed by ordinary people all over the world through the IAU. It is actually one of the most open and transparent processes on Earth. They even let whackos who hate NASA play with their toy orbital plotter!

The timing is strange for this one.. So if YU55 does hit we cannot consider that it has been steered..

Just think western economies are on the brink of collapse, how could you reset the clock and start a new Ponzi scheme..

How many people would be in the loop? Or would even the leaders be led to believe that it was a naturally occurring asteroid.. Perhaps they would be flattered into thinking they had been chosen to be part of the New World that would emerge..

I say APEC in Hawaii is the ARK of the New World Order..

The PACWAVE 11 test will be used to cover the movements into bunkers.. and since YU55 will hit the Atlantic they will be at the optimum distance to survive it..

And if it doesn't hit, will you start a thread apologizing not only for your unnecessary fear mongering, but your personal attacks and slanders?

How would smashing an asteroid into the Earth make anything better for anyone? There would be a need for massive reconstruction efforts, which already cash strapped governments, corporations and individuals can ill afford. There would be large numbers of refugees to be provided for, stretching the resources of charities and NGO's. How would that benefit your imagined powerful elite? Please explain, step by step, how they could take advantage of this physical and societal shambles to better their lives. Remember, as it is, they're flying around in their private jets from Monaco to the Cayman islands, where Beyonce and Eric Clapton will be performing at their daughter's "Sweet Sixteen." Oh, and they're smoking Cuban cigars in flight. How will smashing an asteroid into the planet make them even more comfortable?

Personal attacks.. I don't remember those.

The global economy is on the brink of collapse, it's a sinking ship.

I disagree with the plan to depopulate the world. But if YU55 hits I want it out there that this was planned.

They do not view the world as we see it.. For them it's a possession. When they see their control slipping they will go to extreme measures to assert control.. Example how 9/11 was used to start false wars, by creating fear.

The problem is nobody is buying the Iran threat, the tools of control have to be reset.. Post YU55 it will be much easier to set-up a central power system.

On the bright side it is likely debt will be cancelled for the transfer to the new currency as we all know these deficits can never be eradicated..
