Yeah, everybody run out and buy an American flag, (made in China) and fly it upside down in order to signal our distress. That will surely make a big impact on our current predicament. How about I just hang a Tea Bagger upside down instead, it'll probably do more good.

Why? That would disrespect the real and true America that many men and women have given their lives for. The "America" we live in now is jut a shadow of that America and isn't represented by the same values the flag stands for. How about instead of hanging a flag upside down we vote with some common sense and a purpose in the next election.

Perhaps we should fly 2 flags, One hanging up in support of our military and america as a country, the second hanging upside down representing amreicas distressed government and people?

ATS has been doing this for at least 6 months, probably longer. Check the icon for US Political Madness forum.
RESPECT is a verb...an action. It is important to always show proper respect for the United States Flag. PROTOCOL defines HOW we demonstrate our respect for the flag. Much of this is spelled out for us in the FLAG CODE. Among these rules and guidelines:
The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.

support our military?
wtf does that even mean anymore?
I 'support' the troops.
Baloney. They're agents of the evil elite and just because some of them do not know that does not make them any better.
They are needlessly squandering my tax dollars in another sovereign land. When they die, they are not heros just dead agent bullet-catchers who are actually good people at heart, but unfortunately cannot break the propaganda they have been raised with.
I like the flag idea however that time has already come and passed.
I will be building a large middle finger out of plywood for my front yard.

the government is putting America into distress, what is happening will affect American lives and not for the better, therefore the flag deserves to display Americas distress

No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations.
The flag should never be used for advertising purposes in any manner whatsoever. It should not be embroidered on such articles as cushions or handkerchiefs and the like, printed or otherwise impressed on paper napkins or boxes or anything that is designed for temporary use and discard.
