I would agree, some articles are ding dong but majority of them are interesting as hell, wouldn't you quite agree? I mean we would not be members of the website in the first place right? Lol

I definitely don't tell them it's a conspiracy site. At most they think it's a political site or something. I'm mainly here for the discussion that randomly pops up on the live feed and for things that have to do with space, technology, or news.

Why does it matter what others think of you??

I dont tell people i come on here but i dont tell people i go on a whole host of other sites too. NO not because they are porn or anything....i dont tell people every site i go on period. If i find something interesting yea i may inform them of the article/video/site etc.

I dont live at home with my parents, or have room mates etc. Ive lived on my tod since i was 17, im now 31. I dont have people looking over my shoulder wondering what im looking at so i dont have to explain myself to people within my home.

I cant remember telling anyone that i visit ATS but my friends and family know i enjoy reading and know i like conspiracies....i doubt anyone would even know what an ATS was to be honest lol

My family knows. Several of my family members and friends are also members believe it or not.

My job involves a lot of downtime, punctuated by short episodes of intense activity. But when I am in "standby" mode I am usually on the Internet about 18 hours a day collecting information and conducting various forms of market analysis. At the same time I usually have ATS and a few other boards I like going in another window. So on a typical day, I'm sitting in front of my computer for 18 hours looking at market statistics and news, reading geopolitical background, and then to keep myself sane I might have an e-book going or be doing some reading about something totally unrelated. (This is where ATS comes in and its why I'm always here). It's perhaps a little bit insane because I am flipping between all these "circuits" in rapid succession and watching multiple screens, and when it works well it is an amazing experiece on all levels. I bet a lot of you know that exhileration, of losing yourself totally in the flow of information and riding huge crests of intuition...letting your curiosity run wild...it is truly its own reward for me, to immerse myself like that.

However I know my family members resent this on many levels and it has caused a lot of problems. In one sense there is nothing they can say, because I support everyone through my work and everyone respects that. They better, anyway. I think they do. But at the same time there is frustration that I spend too much time on the internet and it comes out in akward ways. The problem got a lot worse once smartphones and tablet computing get thrown in the mix...now I can be literally anywhere and be simultaneously logged on. This drives my woman crazy! Well, I try to keep it in check. I fail a lot.

It's a brave new world, people.

No problem, I was just really curious about other members here on ATS, because family and friends play an important role. Don't be hard on yourself that your family is hard on you, in the end, everything happens for a reason, people will see the light one day, sometimes people will eventually realize on their own, and sometimes people will never learn.

Thank you , Peace~

I know not of these friends and family that you speak of. These these concepts are foreign to me.

My partner knows I use this site and yes he calls me a tin foil hat wearing crazy lady BUT he also admits that there is a LOT of interesting stuff on here. He likes how excited I get when something really interests me, something to do with the sparkle in my eyes or something

I have a couple of friends that know but alas, they think conspiracy theories are stupid (despite me pointing out that there is so much more to this site).
Only one person I know of is actually a member here and he hasn't been on since he signed up 2 months ago, instead he frequents GLP (I know
but I tried to help him, folks)

I showed my dad this website because he's the only person who will have a conversation with me about these topics, we can talk for hours about these things. Other people just go 'yeah yeah' and have no interest.

What do you think you have joined here . Its hardly the IRA.

Don't let it take over your life you risk sounding boring and or weird at social events.

People don't like to know the truth. Just smile
And pretend everything is ok.

That way you are more likely to get another girlfriend.

If you find a woman that generally likes conspiracy discussion and doesn't have stubble send her my way.

hahaha, yeah I know, well it is actually interesting stuff, I remember I went to my friends house and we all just sat down smoked some hookah and talked about all of these conspiracies for hours, and everyone thought I was like a nut but in the end all they did was listen.

Today's society is so much about the partying, sex, drugs, alcohol, w.e. it has literally consumed the population to the point where they don't give a rats ass anymore about the world.

Ill send you the second woman that comes my way, I would have to keep the first =D

Great question, Unvarnished, and I'll share a funny story related to such. Shortly after I created my first thread here on ATS, which I think was something about UFO's I saw flying over NYC, I called my sister who lives in another state to describe what I was seeing. While I'm talking to her, she says, "wait, let me google UFOs over NY and see if anything comes up". She then says "here's something" and starts reading to me the thread I had just written (which showed up in the google search). Well, I have a somewhat distinctive writing style and after she reads it out loud, there's a momentary pause while it finally registers on her and she screams "hey, wait a minute - are you timidgal?". Anyway, it was pretty funny at the time and although I have no idea whether she's ever gone back and read anything else I've written, I never told anyone else because it wouldn't be worth the debate that would surely ensue. Bottom line is that my family and friends scrutinize me enough as it is and I like being able to express myself here on the boards without having to continue the discussion with a judgemental family member or friend. Thanks for the great question and the chuckle!

Only one of my friends know, and he's a 'believer', whereas I'm an open-minded skeptic. He isn't on ATS.

No-one else knows other than a few references I've made on facebook on occasion or a link I've posted. TBH the vast majority of people know about the stuff on ATS but simply don't care as there's nothing they can do about it, or don't believe it.

I made the decision to post some of the conspiracy articles like ones discussed here on my facebook page and have since been hemorrhaging friends to be honest. I don't care though. I cannot sit around reading potent stuff without sharing and I really do believe that if one person just starts googling the structure of power in our world, it's a good thing. But there's lots of ridicule. It's a mixture of piss-taking, pity and flat out annoyance. (the first two steps to the truth right? ridicule, aggression and then taking as common knowledge..) I've noticed who are shills, and who are just awkward fascists. And I have also learnt that I should not take heed of my ego when I feel belittled.
All in all, no regrets.
edit on 6-7-2011 by looming because: i said ridicule 3 times, brought it down to twice

My family knows I'm a member. My dad has always been the "conspiracy master" around here so one of his kids was bound to follow in his footsteps. He's just not a member because he doesn't speak English that well.

We can always be heard arguing about secret government experiments and paranormal stuff. Here's a picture for illustration purposes:

Sure a few know and I do get heckled from the nephew in-law , but he still thinks the local hockey team is the greatest since sliced bread ( not ) . Their ignorance is my bliss as it were , less head aches from their mundane chores of watching re-runs .

Haha timidgal that's great! Another fellow New Yorker out there, New York itself has a bunch of crazy conspiracies! ATS is one of the very few sites on the planet where people can express themselves compared to the media frenzy that's all over the place. By any chance how did those UFOs look like? I just posted up another thread on "Reply to Arecibo Message" you should definitely check it out!

Hey there, Unvarnished. Sorry I didn't see this until now but the UFO pix kind of got lost with the start of the meltdown in Japan. No worries and I continue to see weird things in the sky over NY lol. If anything spectacular is seen, I'll post it. In the meantime, I'll definitely check out the other thread you pointed out. Take care!

My best friend knows....and she is very supportive ....however...we agree to disagree about some of the subject matter discussed on this website.

Very recently,,,I went to my local drug store to do an errand....(the deli section)....and there was an attractive well groomed man sitting at one of the tables having a cup of coffee. I noticed that he was holding very tightly a bunch of papers. As I was getting ready to leave he got up ...and said out loud to no one in particular..."well...I have finished my coffee..now I am going to go home and read this new information about Reptilians." I couldn't resist and I said "Reptilians?" he then said that he knew they were real and that he was studying about them....and then I asked if he ever read ATS? He said that he did. He then said that now everywhere he goes hes looks at everyone thinking they may not be who they say they are. We walked together about a block and then parted ways.

Since this chance meeting....I have thought...was it really just a coincidence...or was that man a plant...at a store where I frequent?
