My family knows. Several of my family members and friends are also members believe it or not.
My job involves a lot of downtime, punctuated by short episodes of intense activity. But when I am in "standby" mode I am usually on the Internet
about 18 hours a day collecting information and conducting various forms of market analysis. At the same time I usually have ATS and a few other
boards I like going in another window. So on a typical day, I'm sitting in front of my computer for 18 hours looking at market statistics and news,
reading geopolitical background, and then to keep myself sane I might have an e-book going or be doing some reading about something totally unrelated.
(This is where ATS comes in and its why I'm always here). It's perhaps a little bit insane because I am flipping between all these "circuits" in
rapid succession and watching multiple screens, and when it works well it is an amazing experiece on all levels. I bet a lot of you know that
exhileration, of losing yourself totally in the flow of information and riding huge crests of intuition...letting your curiosity run wild...it is
truly its own reward for me, to immerse myself like that.
However I know my family members resent this on many levels and it has caused a lot of problems. In one sense there is nothing they can say, because I
support everyone through my work and everyone respects that. They better, anyway. I think they do. But at the same time there is frustration that I
spend too much time on the internet and it comes out in akward ways. The problem got a lot worse once smartphones and tablet computing get thrown in
the mix...now I can be literally anywhere and be simultaneously logged on. This drives my woman crazy! Well, I try to keep it in check. I fail a
lot.
It's a brave new world, people.
