i wasnt trying to argue that.

just when the little people lie to the feds they are prosecuted but considering this is a congressman

i have no doubts that happened.

I'm familiar with it. It's prime directive is:

"Do what what keepeth thou from wilting" shall be the loophole of the law.

A: All but ONE

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

If Wiener doesn't resign, maybe his party can use it as a promotional tool:

"Run as a Democrat, get a free pass."

And make passes for free, apparently.

what your missing is cheating on his wife being an elected official

setting himself up to be blackmailed to name another.

and lying and trying to make others scapegoats.

being an elected leader they are and always held to highers standards than us little people.

I am not missing anything. Who did he cheat on his wife with? Be specific.
Find me a politician that does not have blackmailable dirt or greedily deep pockets and offshore bank accounts.
Lying about his personal life. I do not care.
Yes, much higher standards. Not stupid standards.

If you want to let some other politician steal from your kids and poison your family while you sniff around a Wiener, go for it. My priorities lie elsewhere.

I could really care less what our rep's do on their own time. Thier job performance is all that I am concerned with.

By the way, is Weiner a cigar aficionado?

If a person lacks integrity in their private life, they will lack it in their public life. I, for one, do not want a man who is clearly unable to make sound decisions to be casting votes in Congress. The kind of person you are in private in the kind of person you really ARE.

It makes him a security risk, if he's having to live a lie. Consider a congressman on an intelligence committee. A foreign govt. could use the evidence to blackmail him.

DId Weiner serve on important committees?

Now you are obviously deflecting.
This thread is about Weiner-gate, not what any other politician has done.

You might want to read this account before digging yourself in any deeper ...

One woman's account

He was trying to get me to talk about myself sexually, and I said, straight up, I’m not an open book. I was real blunt. He would ask me weird things, like “Did you miss me?” I didn’t understand that–how could I miss someone I hadn’t met and didn’t know? What is there to miss about me if you don’t even know me?

and

Talking to him was sometimes a turn-off because he was so open and just so full of himself, as if he were looking, searching for something. I don’t know if he loved telling me his personal business. I didn’t want him to say more, didn’t want to hear stories about sex with famous people. But I guess he needed to express himself.

All of this still makes me really nervous. I live in a small town. I don’t want this and all the anxiety that comes with it. I was worried that all of my personal messages and photos were going to come out, and so I came forward. I just hope to be left in peace.

Creepy. After I read it, made me want to - at the very least - put some of that hand sanitizer on my mouse and keyboard ...

well my standards are that our elected leaders should have character

and the problem with this nation and its people and its leaders is fundamental lack of it.

and those people who have no problems with this do have stupid standards.

Nah, you didn't violate any rules. The only reason Democratic "sex scandals", tend to get less extended-coverage is because they tend to be heterosexual scandals; so there's a lot less to sensationalize.

Gotta give the Governator some credit, at least he tried to buck the Republican trend and go against the grain with his female housekeeper.

Hmmm. Let's see. Nope; I've never claimed to be the victim of a crime in order to cover up the fact that I had phone sex and "pic 4 pic" with people I'm not married to.

I'd like to see ALL of Congress cleaned up. We aren't all saints. But his attempt to lie his way out of an embarrasing (but not illegal) situation shows him for the coward he is.

This country won't be fixed by the cowards in office.

Well Mark Foley is a Representative for Florida right now.

The Crime: Sending sexually laced, gramatically challenged instant messages and e-mails to teenaged boys in the Congressional page program for more than 10 years.

The Hypocrisy: (Foley was) Chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children.
One of the foremost opponents of child pornography in the Senate.

It's no longer than the amount of fingers and toes I have but that's not the point.

I do not believe that you have one finger or toe then because I still see no list. I even looked into it myself. I could not find one. I found a teacher and two cops that had done some pornos but that is hardly a private affair.

Would you think that a anyone holding an authoritative government position (teacher, cop, firefighter) would be able to hold onto their position if their situation was identical to Weiner's? Regardless of the fact that actual photos were sent, the matter that there was a lie involved about the entire situation would constitute a pink slip on the basis of conduct unbecoming.

Yes. John Ensign, David Vitter, Bill Clinton.

If someone like you or me screwed up and did exactly what he did, we'd be filing for unemployment! But because he's a politician, it's apparently OK for him to keep his job.

I have no clue where you work but my job would never fire me for flirting outside my marriage. Your job sounds whoefully unconstitutional.

You are correct;and we should hold our pols to a higher standard.
We are bashing and making fun of the law firm of: " Wiener;Spitzer and Wrangle partially because they're all disgraced NY Dems:

(and honestly "Congressman Wiener" has a conveniently funny last name. "Frankly" begging for abuse. oops! No not "Bawney :I'm running a male prostitution ring out of my georgetown townhouse"Frank"). ..)
jeez I can't swing a cat in this thread with touching on some slime mold with a tie that I wouldn't beseen having lunch with.

You are defending his atrocious (lascivious)conduct precisely because he's a Dem.

Maybe ...

Truthfully Centurion1211 I don't think we CAN agree on that. I do not care what my politician does for sexual recreation, as long as it is legal. I am not his moral guide nor is he mine. I am a religions person in that I hold a theology and yet I do not accept it as a given - morality or religion is necessary or even desirable for wise and prudent governorship.

yeah some people do forget fast.

abcnews.go.com...

This interview is troubling not only because he is lying, listen and watch the last few minutes, he is so arrogant and he knows he is guilty, yet he chastises the reporter all the way through the interview.

That bothers me.

We set our standards so low now days and that's exactly what we get.

I can't forget whats none of my business in the first place. Like I tried to say...if it is illegal, then I want to know. A guy cheating on his wife is a momentary lapse. If we hold our representatives to that high a standard then you may as well line them up and get rid of almost every single one of them because if they say they were never indiscreet or fooled around they are lying through their teeth.
