6.1 Mag EQ in New Zealand

According to the USGS, a 6.1 has hit near New Zealand

Is it all kicking off now?

It's gonna have to be a heck of a lot bigger than a 6.1 to get me all excited.
On a serious note, I hope no one is hurt or affected.

bearing in mind the Iceland situation, it seems to have been picking up in recent weeks. I always see eQ's reported on here now

The Kermadecs are quite a distance from New Zealands North Island and big quakes are common here. Mainland NZ usually not affected by them.

s'allright it's the Kermadec Islands due north of North Island New Zeand - quite shallow , but hopefully O.K. ?

6.1 is pretty big, Not enough for a rapture though.

It's 5.50 Eastern Time in the U.S...They were scheduled to begin at 6 P.M...I'm about to get out of the house in next few minutes. Watch for any strange animal behavior. Good luck everyone

6pm local in each time zone. Meaning they would have started in NZ at about 1am EST.

Current Quake is 500 mile off shore

ITs pretty much in the middle on know where from what i am led to believe so i would not worry to much,

Also with all this doom and gloom people are kinda getting a bit edgy, Just remember quakes happen every day, and that 6 pointers are pretty common in many regions,

But as always if you are in a quake zone take precautions to keep yourself safe, Plates are releasing a little stress as per this time of year when we see many of the larger quakes.

*hint: it's less than one percent

thats 9 x 5+ Mag EQ so far today

the 6.1 in Kermadec is not all that unusual for that area.It's always active.
