Well it wasn't in the Kirkwood R-7 School district in 1970, which was considered one of the very best in St. Louis.

They do teach it in American schools, though the whole thing is usually boiled down to a paragraph or 2. I remember learning about it in 6th grade or so...

No, I did not misunderstand you. Your post is clearly typical leftist hatred of America. And you and others get stars for it. .How completely disgusting. May I remind you that the raid on the Osama compound came on a Marxist President's watch.

I hardly consider Obama Marxist. I'm not a Democrat supporter or a leftist - I consider myself more of a centrist - but I think we should keep things in perspective.

I don't know, the US seems very interested in maintaining its interests overseas, even to the point of war. The more I think about it, the more the US looks like a vaguely imperialist nation.

Just because you don't consider him Marxist does not mean you are correct. More denial from the left camp. He even talks about Frank Marshall Davis in his book. FMD was CPUSA member, an avowed communist. With comments like "spread the wealth", how can you deny the Marxist influence?

What I will agree to is that this "Imperialism" is not the vision of our Founding Fathers, who had non-interventionist ideals. But then, communism is a relatively new phenomenon.

I went to a small public school in Northern Michigan in the mid-80's, but I imagine textbooks and materials used will vary from school to school.

Leftists have been very busy presenting information designed to destroy the morale and sovereignty of the US. Bill Ayers himself is a radical leftist teaching in the University.

Look at the pattern of uprisings and revolts now in the Mideast and N Africa. Ayers and Code Pink were seen prior to this in Egypt. What do you think they were doing there?

I'm Chinese and I can tell something from Chinese prospective. We learnt this history extensively in every primary school. We call 8 country alliance invade Beijing. Forgive my English as that's not my native language as you know. Those 8 country include USA broke into forbidden city, robbed all kinds of jewellery and antique. Burned down whole emperor garden "Yuan Ming Garden". The Great British museum has a bunch of Chinese antiques. Most of them were robbed in that time. Boxer is Chinese internal problem. But that's not the excuse of invasion, robbing and killing. The invasion was an extreme shame to the emperor of Qing dynasty and also angered Chinese in deep way. That indirectly triggered the revolution movement and eventually the Communist party won the domestic war.

That's what we were taught in history class and almost 100% people in China know and believe that. Now you know why Chinese hates westerner in general, especially British. Not much so to America cause that was the war led by British and France. Whenever the westerner lecturing China the democracy, freedom and human right, guess what? reminds Chinese this history. That's why this lecturing never worked and will never work. Hope westerner understand average Chinese feeling on this history and not to pretend as God.

I'm trying not to introduce hatred and look forward. But ignoring this history in western text book is a big shame in my opinion. Thanks OP to bring this up.

-Do nothing in order to do anything.

I apologise but i think you did misinterpret what I was saying again, as I clearly stated I am not a supporter of communism and the subsequent atrocities committed under its watch if you read what I said. I was simply writing on the nature of this thread which talks about america, if by all means the thread was about attempted communist hegemony and the manipulation of history in such countries then that is what I would have detailed upon, however I was addressing claims of US imperialism with further factual evidence, however i shall refrain from using the term imperialism from now on as it clearly angers you, and that is not my intention i assure you and I applaud you for standing your ground and highlighting the problems caused by other nations.

On that point, surely if I am to not ignore the genocide and hegemony by communist nations (which you stress me to do so) in the past as to better understand your point of view - which I am - then you should not ignore the similar acts by the US and its partners. Unfortunately the world is not black and white; the US has caused a lot of problems in the past and I also accept so have communist dictatorships. I am stressing you to look at this not from a political slant but from a humanist one - one cannot condemn the acts of a nation without condemning the equal acts of a similar nation, regardless if they are 'communist' or 'capitalist'. You seem to ignore what I say and cherry pick anything that may be perceived as 'anti-american' (or should i say anti-american government) to further your argument that I am a radical leftist determined to bring down america.

I apologise that I am coming across like this, as i previously stated I am trying to highlight atrocities caused by western nations which are rarely advertised in the public eye (in the West) as opposed to the communist ones which we all know of due to history/mass media and such. I am in no way a supporter of the past communist dictatorships, however I am a supporter of universal human rights and I believe any nation that infringes on these should be held accountable, be it communist or western. As for Obama being a marxist, I'm not so sure this is completely true - maybe a little socialist but a complete marxist would never attain presidency due to their distaste for corporate elites which are prevalent in america. Also as I said but you mustn't of seen - I do not support Obama. Sorry If i've offended you in any way, hope this helps at what i was trying to get across.

Why can't you people understand that you are just tools for the NWO? It doesn't even matter what kind of political party gets voted in the 4 year elections.
Although your present government is a leftist one it tries to do it's best at keeping your Gladio Cold War machine alive and fed by inciting, revolutions, wars, psychological operations, economic collapse, THE WHOLE SPECTRUM OF WARFARE invented by mankind, that only an alien invasion is missing to complete this set
and it has no precedent in human history and this is taking place ALL THE WAY across the Atlantic and even further. Nowhere near America. If that isn't Imperialism I don't know what is!

Seems to you may have been fed a "biased" version of events at school too..

Yes, the Chinese had concerns over foreign practices in their country, but this was largely a deflective practice by the Empress to blame all troubles on the foreigner, of which only some were to blame..

It was the Empress who sided with the Boxers (who rejected anything Western and wanted isolationism) and formally declared War on all 8 of the Alliance powers, then laid siege to the Legation Quarter, the embassies and thousands of Western civilians and Chinese Christians were being attacked and killed before foreign troops even showed up.

Oh right, now Im a tool of the NWO because I oppose communism. I have posted here and in other threads that Western bankers have supported both the Bolshevik revolution and Hitler, so ummm no Im not for the NWO.
Let it be said that TPTB have the power to both raise a nation to power and to knock it down as well, which is what the Soros machine is in process of doing now. Consider that the Rothschilds were behind Weishaupt and the formation of the Illuminati while they were yet building their massive financial status running couriers in the Napoleonic wars and this was the direct opposition to the founding of a sovereign America.

Why doesn't anyone remember the US invasion of China?

Well it wasn't just the USA, we were part of a global alliance. Thousands of people died in battle, it was pretty sick.

I wonder why this isn't taught in American History ? US War vs China?
Oh yeah, because that's not what we call it. We call it something else. The Boxer Rebellion

And look at how arrogant we westerners really are. The Chinese dared fight back against our imperialism and we called them "Rebels". What kind of twisted double-speak backwards logic is that?? We were Invaders...

The Eight Nation Alliance was made up of :: USA, UK, Russia, Germany, Italy, Japan, France, and Austria-Hungary.
Year : 1898 -1901

Status : Ignored In American Public Schools and when mentioned, downplayed and smoke-screened with lies or half-truths.

Dead : Over 40,000 at least.

Why did the Chinese take arms? To oppose foreign Imperialism.

The uprising took place in response to foreign "spheres of influence" in China, with grievances ranging from opium traders, political invasion, economic manipulation, to missionary evangelism. In China, popular sentiment remained resistant to foreign influences, and anger rose over the "unequal treaties" (不平等條約), which the weak Qing state could not resist.

Look at this photograph, it's quite rare and impressive.

It shows soldiers standing side by side of the Alliance. [atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/7faef86648a5.jpg[/atsimg]

Left to right: Britain, United States, Russia, British India, Germany, France, Austria-Hungary, Italy, Japan.

Ever seen anything like that before?

Check this "famous" but actually totally forgotten painting depicting the US Army at battle in Beijing.
[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/477081b45ab0.jpg[/atsimg]

Print(reprodution) of the origional "I'll Try Sir," U.S. Army in Action historical painting, depicting the United States Army during the 14 August 1900 Allied Relief Expedition assault on the outer walls of Peking in China during the Boxer Rebellion.

Further information about this event.

During the fiercely opposed relief expedition to Peking in the Boxer Rebellion in 1900, when two companies of the U.S. Army's 14th Infantry Regiment were pinned by heavy fire from the east wall of the Tartar City and the Fox Tower between abutments of the Chinese City Wall near Tung Pien Gate, volunteers were called for to attempt the first perilous ascent of the wall. Trumpeter Calvin P. Titus of E Company immediately stepped forward saying, "I'll try, sir!" Using jagged holes in the stone wall, he succeeded in reaching the top. He was followed by the rest of his company, who climbed unarmed, and hauled up their rifles and ammunition belts by a rope made of rifle slings. As the troops ascended the wall artillery fire from Reilly's battery set fire to the Fox Tower. In the face of continued heavy Chinese fire, the colors broke out in the August breeze as the sign that U.S. Army troops had achieved a major step in the relief of the besieged Legations. For his courageous and daring deed in being the first to climb the wall, Trumpeter Titus was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.

I know crazy right? I was never taught about the US invasion of China as a kid. They told us about the Spanish-American War and then skipped right to WorldWar1. Well, this is what happened right after the S-A War.

And what did the Global Alliance of Imperialists do to the Chinese patriots who dared to stand up in the face of tyranny? They executed them.
This is the least graphic photo I could find.
[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/cf683a87a139.png[/atsimg]

You should see the photo where the Japanese were beheading them. It's on the Wikipedia page, but I will not post the photo here at ATS because it's graphic. Here is the link. DISCRETION ADVISED! Graphic, View at own Risk

There is far worse than this. Far more graphic.

Why do so few people actually know anything about this event?

Here is why friends. Because we have been lied to and tricked and mislead about our own history for ages. Certain things are covered up or ignored while other things are focused on far more than they should be.

The Boxer Rebellion is an example of the NWO invading a resistant nation for imperialistic and profit based reasons. But aha! This Global Order of Imperialist Nations were already in action over 110 years ago. Surprise surprise.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. This is nothing compared to what has been hidden or ignored.

I remember when the US Army teamed up with Russia and the rest of the gang to invade China. Do you?

If you didn't know about this, shouldn't you be angry with your leaders for trying to manipulate your perception of American military history? (Or if you are from one of the other alliance nations - what about your history lessons?)

I don't know if this is taught in grade school in Europe or Japan, but I sure as hell know here in the USA it is largely ignored, downplayed, and lied about consistently when it is brought up.

I could go on forever about the coverup of history and what has been hidden from us. I suggest everyone read the wiki article and do google searches on the subject if they want to learn more about our Real History.

Maybe it's time the 8 nation alliance comes clean and apologizes formally and publicly to the Chinese people for what we did 110 years ago? I think that would be a honorable thing to do, personally.

Enjoy the reading friends. I will add more if I see anything significant that should be pointed out.

Sorry are you implying people are unaware of this war ? You would have to be an absolute moron of the highest order not to know about this !!

What on earth do you think Hong Kong is ? What do you think the tea wars..oh forget it.

I can NOT BELIEVE that people do not know about this, its like finding out about the Nazis and creating a thread on it alerting everyone to the overlooked part of history which we should all know about.

It just shows how incredibly ignorant Americans are - no offense but SERIOUSLY ???!!

Have you ever heard about the Tokagowa period and Meiji restoration are for Japan ?

Do you know about the RAPE of Nanjing ?

Communism was only the pretext for Gladio in Europe.
After communism ended American bases and troops remained protecting the world from thin air and a vague threat of some supposed terrorists that later, what a surprise, started becoming real terrorism after the Iraq invasion. I know it's Patriotic of you to view this war machine as your protector and your safety against the hardships of the cruel cruel world...so excuse me if I call you NWO ok?

Communism has NOT Ended!!!!!!! It's alive and well in the USA today. It just parades under different names. Even the CPUSA says on its website that Socialism is just an intermediary step to communism.

And for the record the POTUS is NOT my President. I did not vote for him or any of his cronies. Summers and Geithner were in the Clinton admin too. Someone posted elsewhere a great vid from Alex Jones about the whole Summers/Geithner/Paulson Wall Street raping of American financial institutions and the public treasury. But then maybe its that kind of thing that fools people into thinking it's all about Capitalism. If anything it's just the abuse of Capitalism. Beyond the shadow of a doubt they made out like bandits. But the deeper implication is it is making America more vulnerable to communist takeover. Call it the NWO if you like.

Your post is insightful, but its sad that we hold onto such deep resentments for so long.

The Germans caused WW2 and were the primary aggressors in WW1, yet they carry on as any other Western country now, and little anger is directed towards them. As we all know, the ordinary citizen is not to blame for what their governments do.

Why the anger all this time later directed at the USA? While i can understand that they still push their weight around a lot, i think we are soon going to see quite the opposite, and a rising China doing much the same. The South-Eastern Asian countries are already starting to feel significant pressure from China as they assert their new found power and are beginning to project it to what they feel are their regions of interest.

We have made a lot of "mistakes" for sure. We employed Osama while fighting a proxy war against Russian communist domination. Osama turned against us. We supported Saddam while he was opposing Iranian buildup and aggression. Then we turned around and took him out. We supported Mubarak because he was moderately friendly to Israel and he stole all the money and now the revolution kicks him out as a "western puppet". Wanna guess what's going up in place of the Mubarak regime??? I'd guess a heady combination of Socialist regimes and muslim extremism, and they blamed it all on the West.
