You are looking at this in not quite the right way.
firstly let me say I am not a big believer of alignments causing predictable disasters, but the energies involved in these alignments I do believe in.
it is because when objects are in an orbit or in rotation, regardless of the height and depth to each, the rotational energy's or torsion field is the same. Now I am no scientist but these torsion fields are real.....Google and research. You say asteroids pass allow the time etc,
seeing as most asteroids are not in an orbit and are just passing by,they have no real rotational energy to add to the equation.

torsion field is nothing more than psuedoscience, with no factual science proven behind it. It was mainly brought to light by Hoagland, who is not a very credible source.

If you have a credible source with hard scientific facts on torsion fields i would be more than happy to read them.

I personally think that L.A./Hollywood is the greatest theater, that place IMO is filled with the unholy and they will pray for help at the slightest harm. Interesting.... my husband had a nose bleed yesterday for no reason, we have been married for 10 years and that was the first time. Do you believe that the signs are all around you? Last night the Science Channel was running, "When the Earth Erupts". It was show after show on the Pacific Rim. And on Wed is their Monster/Mega quake shows. This morning, I can't recall what channel was running a series on Nostradamus.

I do believe we can't predict an earth quake but we can slow down and observe the signs. There has to be a reason why cats & dogs run away prior to a quake- they know....

Also the pacific was termed the Pacific theater in WW2. Japan was hit, maybe another EQ in Pacific could be coming.

I am not sure whether this is significant but it seems there are quakes popping up more frequently now than just a while ago.

Why, we have the Ramapo Fault here among others.

Here's a newer study of the area - we also have Indian Point nuclear power plant that could be affected.

I am not saying for one minute though that I think a major quake is going to happen in the next few days, but one larger one will happen some day in the future and it will not be good. That and you have to take into consideration that the ground here in the Northeast is a different sort of rock than on the Westcoast. The ground here shakes much stronger. In addition, NYC is built on top of fill and underground tunnels. We here would sub stain great damage is even a 5.0 hit the city.

Elenin might be rather small (as were the other planetary bodies you mentioned), but no one has any idea about Elenin's density.

I never said I knew it had a density like that.
I said no one knows, and it MIGHT have a higher density then your average comet passing by.
Thus possibly affecting earth more and making any comparison to other comets of the same size irrelevant.

I really dislike historial comparisons like that when we in fact doesn't know that much about Elenin's nature.
Just saying "it's a small comet, and nothing happened when other small comets passed by at that distance" is to me ignorance.

I play poker and to me acting like it's a fact that nothing will happen and that Elenin doesn't have any significant effect on earth is equivalent to trying a bluff in poker.
The facts known may be on your side when you state that, but as long as you don't have ALL the fact it's like a bluff.
Your cards are strong so you go all in stating that, but you only see 3 of your opponents cards and can't be 100% sure to win this hand, so you try a bluff.

I like to call bluffs - I call it denying ignorance.
Stop acting like you know it all when you don't have all the facts.
Keep your minds open to other possibilities...

I posted this comment on a splinter thread to this one regarding the translation of the original text. The info given is great (though I am a sceptic around good old Nostro), but the thoughts on a terrorist attack ring a little awry, in my own opinion. Let me explain. I am a teacher by trade, Classical Civilisations, a bit of English Language and meditation, and the first two subjects are what made me question the translation of "Theatre". I do not mean that it is an incorrect translation, as in lexis used, but in the meaning of the word. The "Theatre" we all know of today, did not truly exist until the end of the 16th century, just after Nostro's death. Actors (or players as they were termed) only stopped touring village greens and town centres to stay/use theatres at this time. In fact it is claimed that the first, true theatre as we now know it was Shakespeares "Globe". The previous, closest thing to a modern theatre was a Greek style Ampitheatre.
So what could the meaning be? Wiki says (and yes, not 100% reliable):

"The word comes originally from the Greek Theatron, meaning roughly, 'a place to behold'. In American English, the word 'theater' can mean either a place where films are shown (this is also called a cinema) or a place where live stage plays are performed. In British English, 'theatre' means a place where live plays are performed."

We cool. I do believe there was another major quake predicted after that coinciding with an alleged Elenin alignment which did not come to pass. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. We shall see.
