Octavarium is a good choice...since it's like 24 minutes long that should ensure a slow lingering death.

At first thought, it was this:

After further consideration though, without a doubt, it has to be this:

There is no pain, you are receding.....

For me it's simple...

Katatonia "Gateways of Bereavement"

lyrics:

I stand as I cry
Mourning in the silent rain
Death will light my burden
Endless is my sorrow
Gateways so dark
All these years of dying
Gone are dreams of velvet voices
I am you, we were one
Vast are fields I walk
Where sorrow never dies
The sky unites with the blackened rain
Summon with my tears
Now descend on winterwings
My withering soul..
Let me die,
Gateways of Bereavement
A temple of guilt
Falling deep
Embraced in grief
My withering soul
Let me die
Farewell life and all I died for
Now my time is over on Earth
Another journey has begun
Alone I died, not praying for mercy
Nor praying for salvation
A lonely journey in a darkened dream
Time has come to spread my wings
Slow....
descending from the silent sky
Death comes to take me away
And from the gateways you hear my cry...
... I love you ...

Love the Chameleons. I have all their albums on my Ipod.

And here I thought was the only one who heard of them! Cheers.

AC/DC HIGHWAY TO HELL

if im going down in the lift...or, THERE IS A LIGHT THAT NEVER GOES OUT

If im lucky enough to go to that great penthouse in the sky..or maybe just...

NORMAN GREENBAUM - SPIRIT IN THE SKY for both directions !!

This one would do it for me.

When I was a boy,
I thought it just came to you
But I never could tell what's mine
So it didn't matter anyway

My only pride and joy
Was this racket down here
Banging on an old guitar
And singin' what I had to say

I always thought our house was haunted
Cuz nobody said "boo" to me
I never did get what I wanted
But now I get what I need

It's been a slow turning
From the inside out
A slow turning
But you come about

A slow learning
But you learn to sway-ah-hay-hay-hay
A slow turning, baby
Not fade away, not fade away, not fade away

Now I'm in my car
Ooh, I got the radio on
Now I'm yellin' at the kids in the back
Cuz they're banging like Charlie Watts

You think you've come so far
In this one horse town
Then she's laughing that crazy laugh
Cuz you haven't left the parkin' lot

Time is short and here's the damn thing about it
You're gonna die, gonna die for sure
**And you can learn to LIVE with love or without it
But there ain't no cure

It's just a slow turning
From the inside out
A slow turning
But you come about, ya

A slow turning, baby
But you learn to sway-ah-hay-hay-hay
A slow turning
Not fade away, not fade away, not fade away
Not fade away, not fade away

A slow turning, a slow turning,
a slow turning, a slow turning

My song would definitely have to be Infinite Arms by Band of Horses.

They are one of my all time favorite bands. This song is beyond tender and reminds me of love, loss, desperation, beauty, nature and life. So beautiful.

These mended bones
The storms approach
Ever so slowly
Out on the sea
There's an animal below me
Lack of control
Others came before me
Others to come, to come
When my thoughts drift to you
