Just turned on the computer and saw the NZ quake. Watching the news now, and it doesn't look good.
MOORFNZ I hope you and your family are all ok. Prayers are with all in Chch.
There is alot of damage, a church reportedly been demolished. More liquification than the last quake being reported.

There is real terror in the streets as one can expect. People screaming, sirens blairing and Mothers trying to reach their kids in school - I myself heard a huge bang type explosion in the North Island this morning but don't know what that was.
Emergency treatment centres set up for injured - so many many injuries. Please Pray for them!

So far the aftershocks are confined to the Banks Peninsula.

Early days yet, but it is possible this is a seperate earthquake to the Darfield (Greendale Fault) Sept 2010 7.1Mw, that may have been triggered by that one, rather than an Aftershock.

Reporting that City have now run out of Ambulances - Police using their cars to ferry injured. On the scene witnesses reporting that this was much more violent than the 7.2 in Sept.

Horrific, just horrific. In tears as I watch our city's cathedral crumble and this time we have reports of multiple fatalities.

I am still shaking - I was on my own in the house with the dogs and it was like someone had plonked a tidal wave under the house and I rode it for a good 5-10 seconds. That came after the first wobbles increasing to a large shaking for about 5 seconds.

It's all so surreal. It's all so awful.

Thankful that hubby was quickly evacuated from his office in town and is now home.

My heart goes out to everyone in Christchurch right now. I'm sorry you all had to experience this type of quake twice in less than year's time. It's horrible.

Ongoing aftershocks in Chch. Wondering if the Chch is connected to the Fiji quake yesterday. There must surely be reverberations around the planet from these recent big quakes.
