Its going to take some doing to get some of these countries to take sides. Tell me why the UK, Canada and France would want to join SK and why would Russia want to join with NK? And China, anyone can guess what they would or would not do. Can you explain to us why you see it as you stated?

Ummm what am i missing? Has WW3 broekn out? Who is taking sides and why?

US is a tradiaitonal ally of SK and hence the reason they conduct joint military exercises. China is a traditional ally of NK as both are communist countries. Thats about it.

Im not saying that they would necessarily participate in the war, but if they did, the UK is allied with SK if im not mistaken, and france and canada, if they got involved would involve themselves with the democratic country. Russia has been known to be allied with the north, and has been funding North Korea for years (en.wikipedia.org...) China is North Koreas biggest ally (Read: www.cfr.org...)

China and NK are close allies. Us and SK are close allies. The other countries, as stated, are allies with either china or the US.

There is a lot of fear-mongering and war-monerging on ATS because a LOT of folks on here are mentally disturbed and actually want WW3 to break out. Some are just unhappy in their current lives and hope something drastic like WW3 will happen. Others have spent tons of $$$$ on prepping for WW3 so they are hoping for some big event so that they dont look like idiots for having wasted their money. Others are teenage kids who think it would be "cool for this to happen.

Either way, when nothing comes of the current war games there will be a LOT of ATS'ers who are unhappy and will turn their focus to another potential catastrophic event to look forward to. Until then, theres always 2012!!!

Not looking good, but it could be strictly precautionary. I hope everything works out over there. I really don't want this to escalate out of control. =/

I do find it realistic for Japan to get involved since they absolutely hate NK. That combined with the their current gripe with China over the disputed island.

Ok here is a thought, North Korea has done all it needs to bolster Dear Leader jr's coronation.
The populous of NK have NO outside information, so soon it will appear that junior has successfully repelled the mighty US.

Now they (the North) know that if we go in and damage what little they have and risk an uprising by the people and military, they, at best are dead.

I think nothing more thane a few fireworks for the propaganda cameras will happen.

Any thoughts?

I haven't seen anyone cheer for war on here. I don't think anyone wants war because they're bored or sad. I do think people get tired of bullies and want it to stop. This is a current news story that can have a major effect on a huge part of the world. People are sharing news about it on a site that hosts a forum for such discussion. Why don't you go read another forum?

That absolutely sucks. I don't think I would have stayed on that island if I was a resident after last week. At the least I would have moved my wife and kid.

If this is true it should hit the news rather quickly. Incidentally, I am monitoring the MBN news feed that someone posted and they went to commercial right before this headline posted. Does anyone hear speak Korean that can translate for us?
