The harder they cut the more they'll push us into a double dip and the higher the risk us peasants will give them a kickin. indeed, interesting times

If you can still afford to live im sure the cuts are splendid but i can't already so the next four years for me are going to be pretty testing and im not sure im going to come out of it too well.

These types of austerity measures are being implemented all through Europe for a reason. Expensive Failure!

Funny, we have a president who thinks he can do better and wants a crack at it.

It doesn't work. It is unsustainable. Govt.s are incapable of generating the necessary profits and revenue to maintain such bloated bureaucracies and programs.

Someone please share this brilliant bit with the White House.

These measures had never been talked about before the GLOBAL financial crisis, which i believe began in your country. Lets not let greedy capitalist bankers get away with it and clame it on socialism.

regarding offshore scumbags, i would table a motion to bar any parliamentarian from holding office if it is found that they hold offshore accounts period. trouble is the house would be empty save for a few janitors with visas!
regards fakedirt

Now that is a brilliant idea. Maybe a petition can be raised to demand it. Apart from tax evasion/avoidance what other possible reason can there be for an offshore bank account, business or trust?

Jexmo, I am sorry to hear about your predicament and I sincerely hope the longer term stays good for you.

I stated my opinion and since it was on topic, I'm entitled to that opinion - I agree with the cuts. I would justify exactly why, but since they are partial to my own predicament I would naturally express bias toward the private sector in which I work, and apart from being off topic it's not really conducive to the thread.

The're not finished though are they. And this is only about a 2 year rise in retirement age. They increased the retirement age in the UK and no one bats an eyelid.

If France was going through what we are , there would be revolution

This isn't the first time the French have protested, and France is, in all intents and purposes, the same as every other Western country whose citizens don't really take to the streets.

All their protesting has been in vain, and I'm pretty sure that they're not ''only'' protesting about the raise in pension age.

As in Greece, they are just voicing their discontentment at everything, and one particular policy triggered the demonstrations.

there are no other reasons for offshore accounts. pure and simple greed. sadly the hmrc already has an overwhelming workload. no mention of the large company offshorers and the £6bn tax avoidance rubberstamped by the powers for vodafone after its implied threat to move operations offshore. instead they will target individuals and all us bottom feeders. i also stand by the comments i gave my learned friends earlier regarding tax avoidance and parliamentary tenureship.

The riots are going to be ridiculous. I genuinely fear for the future of the country. Perhaps this is the start of the NWO that i don't necassarily believe in. There is going to be uproar, absolute uproar and i for one will be in the thick of it.

Im gunning for Cameron.

Thanks U.S bankers.

Im getting a bit bored of people who are well of telling me this is a good thing. Well it is for you isn't it, it doesn't matter if you lose your job!! Are they going to deny jobseekers allowance for all those who lose their jobs as well because he obviously hasn't taken into account the fact we will all have to sign on have they. Im not annoyed

Riots? What riots?

There is very little sympathy for government workers or unions in the the UK right now. Wide spread, vocal discontent is unlikely. We are NOT France, just ask any Englishman.

The cuts had to happen. Who is really happy about paying welfare for for the middle class? Who is really happy about spending money on quangos? Who can possibly argue that the civil service isn't over staffed?

I'm no Tory, but even I realize that the money has to come from somewhere.

Is working until you drop a move forward?
I suggest not.
With fewer jobs surely we would want people to retire earlier.
And then people would be able to enjoy the later years of their lives, unfortunately they can't afford to due to the pittance they have earned.

Due to the serial inept mismanagement of this country by successive governments which have comprised nothing but self-serving and self-advancing career politicians whose only agenda has been personal or party gain regardless of he best interests of this country and it's citizens.

We need to abolish the party system and implement urgent and radical electoral and parliamentary reform handing control and power to the electorate.

If not we will soon be back to the days of the workhouse.

I am an Englishman and this is my opinion so i dont have to ask anybody else. This affects me badly and so will affect others badly. This isn't just public sector workers that this affects, if you think that then you are naive and small minded. 500,000 people losing their jobs means that those 500,000 people wont be spending their wages anymore because they won't have that money. So that means where they get their cut will be affected, where they shop etc. This will affect a lot of people. Are you forgetting riots over the Royal Bank of Scotlands misgivings, that was small time compared to this.

Ever since osbourne (red lipped twat) took 11.5 billion from the public sector and only 2.5 from the bankers who caused this debarcle, it's been plain to see this is political ideology and not what's best for Britan. At least there is one bit of good news from today, Thatcher has been taken into hospital and hopefully wont live too much longer. I'm hoping when their queen dies, the other tory drones will cease their evil plans...

I have never felt unsafe.

The waste in government is shocking, it's time they had to make do like the rest of us in the private sector.

I'm finding it difficult to find much sympathy. Everyone has known for ages that these cuts were coming, where is the personal responsibility?

I have savings, do you know why? Because I absolutely know that I cannot count on the government to take care of me in the event of job loss.

We all blame the bankers ( may they burn in hell
, the government, the councils ect;

WE ARE THEM!

We let this happen.

So now we should all pay.

That is a very good point

It's a point of how do we stop them from shafting us all the time.

Another thing how was we supposed to stop brown from popping up the banks

Thanks

I'm sensing some class issues in this thread.

Labour were at the helm at the start of the banking crisis (which some would argue was a long time coming due to relaxed regulation) and failed to take the steps to 'punish' the bankers.

For the record I also wish to see an end to the current 3 party state we have in the UK. All main parties exist in a world far removed from the one in which I live!
